Combating cachexia: New approaches 

Thank You for the bio-chemistry part of this video, very interesting. Unfortunately cancer is still not understood by many. Cancer is a pathogenic condition which causes an oxygen issue which disables the mitochondria, so the only way to create energy is by glycolysis which leads to fermentation and rising lactic acid production which causes a continual pH lowering effect which eventually causes the cell to die, which causes the inflammation.

You mentioned flu and muscle loss. There is a difference between post stravation and cachexia. It is the respond to feeding. In the former patient gains some weight. In the latter the regeneration capabilities are lost and patient does not restore weight. Sarcopenia is one of cancer manifestations and cachexia is its end state. The disease is driven by a virus and in order to protect itself ,from cachexia, organism grows a tumor.The depletion of stem cells, as cancer progresses , triggers a defense strategy by the organism namely tumor. The tumor produces protein which were formerly produced by the depleted stem cells. A complete cure is to interfere with disese driver namely virus. If the missing protein is identified it can be given like B12 in pernicious anemia. Without restoring the deficiency ,the disease causes sarcopenia which ends as cachexia and patient dies.
