Those Combine soldiers must've lost contact with whatever was controlling them, having been so far gone from being used to orders and mind control that, upon the citadel's destruction, some regiments have completely lost their purpose, and have deteriorated in both body and willpower, just waiting for Overwatch Command to direct their next operation. Orders never came.
I think the visual story is that these dudes pretty much got the ever-living Jesus tortured out of them by the resistance or some extreme part of it. And pretty much all that's left is essentially a broken toy robot.
My little headcanon is that these “husk” combine soldiers have been isolated so that their mental faculties have deteriorated and have gone mad to some extent, killing some their fellow soldiers in the process
What makes this video effectively creepy for me is: >You can just barely make out what the Combine soldiers are saying >They all stop what they are doing to stare at the player and acknowledge him with a droning "contact identifieeeed" >Continue to stare at him as if waiting for proper engagement like a truly terrifying predator would. Could just be buggy tho per the end of the video
For those who are wondering where theses Husks originated from, they're from Entropy Zero 2. A Half Life 2 mod on steam that appears to be ported to Gmod with VJ Base.
This is likely worse than what the combine commonly does, the lack of combine technological equipment in the facility gives you the vibe that this is not their turf, but there are so many of them here caged up, desecrated, and droning mindlessly. It's like they were captured by some psychopathic group, a seperate one from the rebels who wanted to inflict pain unto combine soldiers the same way the combine did to innocents.
To me it sounded like the last one to be killed said “prepared for contact” like it knew what was going to happen and was affirming it was ready to die.
the little jail cells the combine bodies were in are all made of metal jail doors so they look like they just fell for the old Minecraft trap. also 10/10 video really good graphics 👍
Skip, the next phase of your evolution requires that you get some ragdolls to move. Like imagine if that shotgunner body before you see the husks had raised its head before falling back down or getting shot
Combine soldiers were made to be absolutely dependent on their tech. Without proper maintenance they’ll deteriorate physically and mentally. It’s the same reason why they could never truly join the rebellion either, they would inevitably die without their specialized resources.
huh this one feels different because most of the other gmod realism videos you make are full of action and dialogue while this video is like exploring yknow
Love these types of videos with a bit of spooky atmosphere. Wish I could make Husks AI better, but it's hard to work with VJ Base relationship system. Hope they didn't cause much pain with their buggy behavior.
I was looking for that. In entropy zero 2 you can make them your friends, would love for that feature to be added here. To answer your question, for the last scene about 12 takes were shot. They did cause a pain as they would just shoot each other or wonder to some dark corner in the room.
@@skipfighter Yeah, I tried to mimic their unique relationships by making them randomly fight eachother (like in their description), but it works not really good. I don't think that I'm going to update this addon, because I'm working on ZBase version and also on VJ Base remake, but who knows. Btw you can disable wandering at VJ Base settings.
The fact that I can easily ruin this scene by spawning in the gman slapping dr. Breen in the face with his brief case while he’s drinking Breen water is amazing. Great video btw👍
Everybody talks about the fast zombie when it comes to scary Half Life enemies but the Zombines are 10x more terrifying. Sure fast zombies are faster but they are relatively flimsy, you get used to their screeching as well meanwhile I'll never get used to have a zombine barreling towards me with those distorded ass roars and I always panic when it whips out a grenade.
Strange creepy concept. Never thought I'd see a combine so wasted away psychologically and physically that their eyes fade and their suits become dusty and dirty. Interesting and bizarre, scary even from a perspective of even feeling bad for them. Lost Alien souls, lost conquerors dazed and confused.
well that was uniquely unsettling felt like whatever's leftover of the original human's mind, the combine reprogramming, and whatever infection turned them into these things (if there is one) were all fighting for control over the host body
I kinda feel bad for the husks, its almost like all the incoherent and distorted words are them saying help, hell even the last combine husk said “why, please” its just a disturbing thought.
it sounds like they're trying to contact overwatch at points. I believe that the responder thingy to overwatch is broken, and overwatch has no clue what's going on down there, and why units have gone missing.
They're combine soldiers that have degraded due to reaching the end of their life cycle. As a result they can no longer function as they did before, similar to any other military equipment. Essentially discarded scrap left to expire.
Hey Skip I have a recommendation do one of CPLFreeman's animations the first person zombies one it would be a cool animation to see in Gmod without the animation
I wonder what the story for these poor fellas is. It's clear they're all.. damaged in some way, at minimum neurologically with how they're all.. spaced out and incredibly slow to act, like they're in some way lobotomized or something else horrifying
