damn, i just got more motivated to get into painting and body work. i upgraded from a 30 gal to a 60 gal 18cfm at 90psi so i can continue with my 65. nice set up and info.

Nice set up bro..I have two air compressors exactly the same at 26 gallons..one of them the motor messed up so I am trying to connect that tank without taking bad motor out. Do I just run a tee from my working compressor to the non working one? I am just scared to blow up lol if it makes sense.

To be honest I have a new set up and this video is old. If I get a chance today I’ll make a new video and up load it. But theoretically speaking, you should be able to plug the old one except one hole and run a line from your working compressor to the old one for additional storage. Hope that helps

Nice setup. When I got the notification that you had posted a video I thought no way are you working on the 72 in the garage- it is freezing out!

Consider using 3/8" hose lines, especially if you are running a long hose. The 1/4" you have will be too restrictive.

Looks good , I built a air dryer onto my compressor , it's the best thing I have ever done to it , my air is bone dry with it now , for painting it's amazing , been using it for probably close to a year now and get no water out of my hoses
@dkiv20

how did you build it inside?

+BKChevelle 1972 promise its better than any dryer you could ever buy , I have a water separator right before my paint gun set up and it never get any moisture in it
@dkiv20
@dkiv20 8 лет назад
+MrFireman164 so did you mount it to the wall and run the air line to it?
@MrFireman164
@MrFireman164 8 лет назад
+BKChevelle 1972 I mounted it to the cage that holds the belts , but you could mount it anywhere

You should wire up the old compressor and run both motors/compressors. Then you'd have ~16 CFM.

Are you regulating pressure down at the compressor or the gun? You can avoid some of what you're complaining about by running full pressure (whatever your compressor can output or whatever you feel safe running in your lines) to the gun and then putting a regulator right on the gun. I have a 3hp/29gal and a 7.5hp/60gallon compressor, and with most of my guns I get the same results with ether running (right now the big one is broken). Of course, I run 150psi out the compressor through a 1/2" line across the basement into a filter/dryer, desiccant drier and then a toilet paper filter, regulator set at 120psi, then 1/2" out to the garage where it finally goes down to 3/8" for the last section of hose and a regulator right on the gun. That gets me as much dry airflow right at the gun as possible no matter what compressor I'm using. I may plumb a spare 60gallon tank that I have into the system just to act as an extra drier and further buffer the air pressure.

*I have a small garage and mostly just needed a compressor for tire pressure and the occasional air tool. I had been surviving on a cheaper brand for years until it broke.The difference is night and day. The motor fills the tank quick, it’s bigger than my old one yet less noisy, the regulated and tank controls are actually precise. Plus, it already comes with a lengthy hose and about any attachments you need for inflation.*

all you had to do is get 3 lead hoses, scrap hoses, combine them with a T fitting, each end goes to each compressor, last end goes to spray gun, boom, no need to do anything special

keep an eye out for a 2 stage comp. pump you'll love the higher cfm ! you can just get the pump and add it to your 60 gal . in place of the single stage pump. good job with what you have now .. awsume !

Can you have a 30 gallon tank running and attach it to a 60 gal tank that doesn’t run? Will the 60 gal hold the extra air?
@dkiv20
@dkiv20 3 месяца назад
I would think so! It’s just a tank… the question I would have is if the motor is big enough to run 90 gallons continuously

Keep a eye out for a few more tanks,the more reserve the longer your compressor last and allows cooler air to the gun.

good video dog ..Im about to cop a new 80 gallon compressor and was gonna sell my 60 gallon craftsman for the same reason not enough cfm while spraying..thought about doin this with my old tank ..but 80 should be enough the extra 60 I don't think it'll be worth it not for the space it'll take up in the garage

thanks for the vid! did you really paint a full car with the 40 gal ? i assume you did it in parts right ? never heard of "tiger stripes" what does this look like, can't really find any examples online.

Gahl Yogu I painted my 72 impala with it, civic , etc... with it but if you thinking of painting cars go bigger with the compressor
@gahlyogu4570

yeah i have a 75 chevy stepside ...and 40 gal is def not going to cut it. Although, the plan is to paint in parts with a 60 gal ingersoll rand. I also found a shop that rents its painting booths to the public.

Get an Eaton www.eatoncompressor.com/bare-pumps/7-5hp-3-cylinder-2-stage-air-compressor-pump. The tanks are the most expensive parts, and you got 2 so you're good to upgrade.
