Hay Nadeem, I don’t think I understand your question. Video doesn’t specify CAN anywhere and there is nothing unique about the connection to the Powerlink operator. The video shows you how to connect to your computer using the RJ45 connection. The part numbers are in the description of the video. You will need a (1) KEB USB-to-serial adapter and, (2) an RJ45 adapter. Contact a local KEB rep to get these parts. Have a great day.

Safe answer is no, but how you want to connect isn’t 100% clear. We believe you are wondering about replacing the blue USB to Serial converter with a standard serial cable. That is not possible. USB to Serial Adapter requires an FTDI chipset to work with our drives/Combivis. We cannot guarantee any specific 3rd party cable will work and strongly recommend our USB to Serial Converter. Hope this helps. Thanks for the question.

Hello. Thanks for your question. Connecting to this drive without knowing the nameplate data depends on the operator used (p/n 00F5060-xxxx). Only the -2000 operator would work without an additional cable. Also while the FTDI chipset is required for the cable to work, there is no guarantee a generic cable will work properly. Recommendation would be to order the Combivis Starter Kit (CV58060-USBC). If you need more info please contact us via email or phone and talk with an application engineer.

Hello Javaid, Thank you for your question. You will need to clarify a few things in your comment: 1. If you use a USB to serial adaptor, it must have an FTDI chipset. For example, the USB to serial adaptors you would get from Office Max would not be made for industrial applications and most likely would not work. 2. A straight serial cable will not work. To connect to the drive using a serial operator, you would need to use a serial cable wired with pins 2-2, 3-3 and 5-7 (PC side-Drive side). 3. As mentioned above, you would need a serial operator as well. A better option is to use our new USB to serial converter part number CV58060-USBC. The USB converter can connect to the drive in multiple ways so gives more flexibility to cover all applications. We hope this helps clarify your needs to connect to a KEB VFD.
