Come Follow Me - Alma 36-38 (part 2): "Keep All These Things Sacred" 

Sacred things, servants, stones... Brightness, light, compass. All physical things prepared by God that manifest spiritual tools to show is the way home to our Father promised land... It is not the physical things that get us home but our attitude of belief and gratitude (faith) in the hand of our Lord and savior and he manifests himself in these physical things. (Cross reference 1 nephi 17:13... Many years ago while sitting in an institute class that I had taken for social reasons that an institute teacher brought this verse alive for me. It was the first time I had been enlightened with how the scriptures were truly applicable to me.... Thus began my search for understanding that has never ceased. This discussion bore yet another witness of that same truth I received over 25 years ago. ). Thank you so much for the time you put into these presentations. My husband and I thoroughly are uplifted and edified by the insights you share. You are a light in the darkness and your preparation assists the Lord in his efforts to lead me home to Him.

Thank you so much for these excellent videos. I like how considerate you are of the Come Follow me study guide and how well you illustrate and illuminate points throughout your lessons. My calling is in primary so I had not been to a gospel doctrine class in ages. Your vids have been such a blessing to my renewed efforts to read my scriptures daily. As well, I feel like I am improving on my study and also how I share the gospel. Please keep going! We are all so blessed with your charity.

This week I had a real epiphany on faith and what it truly means. Brother Halverson, I just can’t get over how you can make things so clear. You are such a powerful instrument in the Lord’s hands. In this video, you mention Alma 37:40, and I have never seen faith like this before. Alma 37:40 states, “And it did work for them according to their faith in God...” and 2 Ne 5:6 states, “And all those who would go with me were those who believed in the warnings and the revelations of God.” It was not faith in the Liahona that moved Lehi and his family to obedience. It was faith that God could move those spindles and give them the direction they were looking for. It wasn’t faith in Alma or Nephi, or any of the prophets as the men they were. It was faith in God that He called those men and gives them revelation. “I have faith in God so, I can trust the Liahona. I have faith in God, so I’ll trust the scriptures. I have faith in God, so I will trust Nephi as a prophet. (Or in our day, I have faith in God, so I will trust President Russell M. Nelson and his teachings and admonitions.)” It’s so interesting I have been a member all my life and I feel I’ve been confusing the “why” of choosing to obey. It’s not the prophet, scriptures, etc. in and of themselves, which I believe are good. It’s the fact that I trust God, and He trusts these men, who then speak and write the teachings. This really made me rethink the way I look at faith and I LOVE it!!! ♥

The statement "that's just God working by means" and the beautiful way you explained Alma 37:7 was such an eye opener. For me it will be a way to be a missionary and overcome lack of knowledge that God wants me to share with his sons and daughters. Thank you so much....

For each Come, Follow Me lesson I'm now listening to you (just subscribed), Book of Mormon Central, ànd Don't Miss This. Each has given me different gems but the fact that you did a video for each of these chapters and took time with EACH verse has given me many discoveries. I've been tormented for days for a pattern of behavior I keep falling back on, and I loved what you said about faith in Christian helping us to avoid the sin altogether rather than just relying on repentance after the deed is done (around 37:25),
