Thank you so much for these videos. I haven't been to Church in 3 years and started following your channel about 9 months ago. Back in February I bought your Don't Miss This 2020 Journal and a Book of Mormon Journal Edition. I had built up the courage to leave a very bad marriage situation, and then the Pandemic hit, along with a very strict quarantine since my husband is in the military. These videos keep me going, I'm blessed with a strong mind and know that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
Golden Paw Life Adventures thank you for sharing your story. Please know you’re not alone. Sending love and prayers to you to feel the peace that comes from Christ as you navigate a very difficult time. I know the Book of Mormon can bring peace. There are resources available to help you walk the path you are needing to walk. Here are a couple resources: www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/1999/10/a-conversation-on-spouse-abuse?lang=eng and www.churchofjesuschrist.org/get-help/abuse. And you can always reach out to me for more resources.
You are a Hero. So happy for you that your life is your own now with Christ leading you and caring for you. I am also new to these pod casts and type of scripture study. I love Emily's scriptures I wish I knew where she go them from. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you are safe and secure.
Favorite quote from Mother Theresa......."If you want to change the world, go home and love your family". Always love monday mornings waking up to your videos!!
Post General Conference even on Easter Sunday my not-a-member-yet husband said we should sit in the chapel in the garden (which he built for me) and then I read the new proclamation followed by my half memorised The Living Christ. Then the mosquitoes started to bite! but still it was one of my experienced miracles promised by the prophet President Russell M Nelson.
Thank you for the reminder that King Benjamin’s words were written and sent out to those who couldn’t hear him. It brought back a tender memory - and with that, a lesson for me. My husband, who was in the U.S. Air Force, and I were stationed in Panama from 1983-1986. During that time, we had no satellite transmission of conference in that country. Conference weekend was just a regular weekend. We had our usual 3 hours of church on Sunday. General Conference came in the mail, in the Ensign, in May. As I pondered that memory, I thought of others for whom General Conference is “far away” - either physically or spiritually. I can be better about sharing the messages of conference with those people. This can include inviting a sister I minister to to watch conference. Or I can share my favorite quotes on social media. Messages of General Conference can still be “sent out” to those who “can’t hear”. Thanks again for giving me this spiritual lesson today.
It’s almost like you knew what the prophet was going to do for General Conference, you talk about hearten, and the President Nelson talks about Hearken, Hear, and Heed and then he gives us a new Proclamation. Love watching your videos and listening to your podcast, would love for you to have an institute podcast that we could listen in on.
Thank you for this weeks video. I loved the part where you suggested that “prosper you” or “prosper in the land” is code for having an increase measure of the Holy Spirit. I had never thought of it that way and it makes so much more sense to me now.
Love ❤️ the letter from Morher Teresa that hit my heart ❤️ today Love ❤️ & God bless you both with strengthening us especially during this crazy time Talofa & Alofa’s from Puyallup a Washington 🙏❤️💪🏽🤗
I love the honest ideas and comments about family scripture study. Wow, I sure wish I had these family scripture study ideas when my kids were young. Often our scripture study was in the car on the way somewhere because there was a "captive audience." I read while hubby drove. I guess we did the best we could. I am glad my kids have these great resources and ideas for my grand kids. Thanks!
My proclamation for my Family is I Believe in Christ and He Believes in Me. I feel His presence, I know he thinks I can do all things through faith in Him.
I love what David says; here is my heart, strengthen , purify it. Yes that is what we do when we repent and give our heart to Jesus every day as we use the Attonement in our lives!
Thank you so much for all your insite! I love studying with you guys each week - you have really helped bring my gospel study to life! You are truly amazing! It really touched my heart - the concept of "facing your tent" to the temple. So I did a little search on it and found this quote. It is from President Wilford Woodruff in the dedicatory prayer on the Salt Lake Temple: "Heavenly Father, when thy people shall not have the opportunity of entering this holy house to offer their supplications unto thee and they are oppressed and in trouble, surrounded by difficulties or assailed by temptation, and shall turn their faces towards this thy holy house and ask thee for deliverance, for help, for thy power to be extended in their behalf, we beseech thee to look down from thy holy habitation in mercy and tender compassion upon them, and listen to their cries....Or when the children of thy people in years to come, shall be separated, through any cause, from this place, and their hearts shall turn in remembrance of thy promises to this holy Temple, and they shall cry unto thee from the depths of their affliction and sorrow to extend relief and deliverance to them we humbly entreat thee to turn thine ear in mercy to them; hearken to their cries, and grant unto them the blessings for which they ask." (James E. Talmage, "House of the Lord", p. 142)
I think it's so awesome that David is almost like a mindreader of what President Nelson said in General Conference - {resident Nelson talked bout "Hear, Hearken and Heed" and then gave us a proclamation - how awesome is that! I love you guys! keep doing what you do best! YOU ARE GREAT!
Emily, I loved looking up Garrett and learning if his story. And knowing why this was his favorite scripture. Heavenly Fathers loves all of us. He wants us to be the best we can be. You have been the sunshine to your own. Incredible that Dave told the story, and it lead into this story. This was a great lesson for me this week. I'm glad I found your 3 rules for Garrett when he loved into your home. My favorite scripture is also in this set. Mosiah 2:17. It is my life. Thank you for doing these lessons!
Isn't it interesting how we all.. the whole world.. are fighting a common enemy? We seem to be united in our need to combat a virus. We seem to have put aside our differences to keep each other safe from something so invasive and powerful. 💗
SO so good. I love Mondays because I start my week with you two, who I now consider my Monday besties! Thank you for bringing such wonderful insights into my scripture study and personal learning journey with the Book of Mormon.
I loved this so much! I especially appreciated you sharing your personal experiences with scripture study with your family. My husband and I have 6 kids ages 2-14 and we sometimes do two scripture studies (like you mentioned), and sometimes they are just short!
I love hearing members quote Saints from other church such as Mother Teresa and Agustine etc. Love the shoes. Great to hear of a change like this. I hope my son will come to read the Book of Mormon. I once wrapped a copy of it in his new martial arts outfit and told him there was a surprise in there that had people disappear and people get of of dire situations and many stories that he can use to help him in his life. I never heard another word about it but he is still not making wise choices but the hope in a mother's heart does not die but is strengthened through obedience to the Lord and sharing what we have and praying oh and praying and oh did I say praying on their behalf.
Minute 21!!!!! A proclamation!! How cool that you brought this up before knowing that indeed during this General Conference there actually was revealed to us a Proclamation!! Oh wow. And you recorded this video before conference. You guys are awesome. Thank you. 💞
Emily - I just listened to your book "Grace Where You Are". I cried and cried. Thank you so much for feeling and coming to this understanding to share with all of us. This has really impacted me in a big way. It's the understanding I've been praying for for a long time. I listened to it in one evening as I couldn't stop! I have shared it now with 4 friends already (listened 2 days ago) and am now listening to it again. And will again and again. I need constant reminders! This was so beautifully done, very inspired! I was so happy that you were the read to read it as well and thank you for that too! I have loved you and David since I found you in January this year. And I have told several friends as well that did not already hear about you two. You two are infectious! But glad it's not with Covid-19! May God continue to bless you both!
Mosiah 3:20 makes me think of the Worldwide Fast page that was created on Facebook after Pres. Nelson asked us to fast on April 10th. That group has over 500,000 members from all over the world and all different faiths, and some who don't have a religion. It's one of the most uplifting Facebook groups I've been a part of.
just listened to your part on the words of a prophet and you talked about a proclamation by King Benjamin and you didn't know because its before conference when you recorded this and WE ACTUALLY GOT A NEW PROCLAMATION IN CONFERENCE!!!!🤗🤗
Absolutely love love love this video! Actually, I love all of your videos❤️💙 each one has changed a different part of my life and understanding!! Hope you can keep having the inspiration and words to share what He wants us to learn! Love you ❤️💙
Just a tiny bit of disappointment when I discovered this was pre-recorded. I was really looking forward to you expounding on Conference which was amazing BTW! It's fun to hear and share insights and I always appreciate yours. Be safe David and Emily. I'm praying for you both from Washington Utah. (yes David I really am praying for you) :) love you both and am grateful for your work. ♥️
I would like to know more about where the notion of prosperity being an increase of the spirit comes from. It rings so true and I would like to be able to tether it to something.
Great insights! You guys always make me think and I appreciate your efforts. Thank you. The first family scripture study would have PROBABLY been with Adam, who taught the gospel to his children. They were taught by angels, who were sent from God (Moses 5:58). A Book of Remembrance was kept, which was a record written by inspiration (Moses 6:5). Can you imagine what THOSE family scripture study sessions were like? And how cool would it be to have those records? But it's interesting to me that in spite of being taught by angels, many of Adam's children wouldn't believe in the coming of Jesus Christ.
So I just had a thought. In next year's DMT journal, could you please put a pocket in the back that we could tuck extra notes into? Thanks for all you do 💜
Hi! I am studying King Benjamin’s sermon. I love the idea of prosper meaning an abundance of the Holy Ghost. I am trying to find this in scripture. Can you please lead more the a source for this?? Thank you!
My son is 14 and he has no interest in the church. I desire him to partake of the fruit with all my heart. It's hard to listen to this. I know my Father in heaven loves my son with all his heart. I pray that my son can be converted.
Thank you so much for this video! Gosh, you guys are saving me during this social distancing craziness. What are the names of the two kinds of grace? I tried googling it and rewinding the video, but I can't make out what they are. I'd love to study more about them! Thanks!
I would love more info or a link to the meanings or explanations of the two kinds of grace you were talking about. I can't find anything, I think I don't have the spelling right, is it Latin?
Those shoes look like they belong to a giant. I found a picture of the note from Mother Teresa, printed it on a sticky note to put in my scriptures. "Be the sunshine of God's love to your own."
How far ahead do you pre-record? I'm just wondering because I'm sure at some point these will shift to recorded video conferences (because at the time of this comment, we've been instructed to not get together for weeks) and I'm curious when that will be. I also love how all of these lessons are lining up so well with current events.
Hi you two! I love your videos so much! I would love however to be able to have a still picture of your chalkboard! Would you be able to send it in your newsletter or something? I can't ever see it. Maybe I'm just not knowing some trick that everyone else knows????? Love you guys!!
Lynnette Bowman the chalkboard is basically what is in their book, “Don’t Miss This.” It’s a workbook that’s you can fill out throughout the year. Last year they did send the study sheets out in the newsletter. They do try to scoot out of the way of seeing the board at least once in the video so we can take screenshots and write stuff down. They don’t always remember though. 😄
I've heard from a few speakers that "prosper" is code for an increase in the spirit. Where does that interpretation come from? Does anyone have a source for that?
Marcia Mackie I dont know its source, but think about the scripture using the sacrament prayers as a cross reference, “keep my commandments that they may always have my spirit to be with them.” That is the renewal of the covenant of baptism.
This is a link to the Beginners' Book of Mormon. It is being written so that a 4 year old can understand and a 7 year old can read it. www.beginnersbookofmormon.com/EN-BegBOM/020-KingBenjaminsTower/020-KingBenjaminsTower1.html
Hi, I really love your videos. However, I was very upset with your Easter presentation. Regarding "the mess", surely everyone washed their feet on entering the house. This was the custom. Surely they would not have come to the table with dirty feet. Jesus washing the disciples feet was symbolic. It was setting an example of service. Regarding the donkey threw me. You didn't know anything about it! The donkey was a prized animal. A donkey had to trust its owner before it did anything for that owner. Once it did trust, the donkey would do anything within its limits for the owner with a minimum of training. The fact that Jesus was able to mount a colt who had never before been ridden was another miracle because the animal instantly trusted its rider and did not so much as balk much less buck. Riding a donkey was a sign of Royalty. Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey showed that He was a King of Peace. (A horse was an animal of war.) This fulfilled Zechariah's prophecy in Zechariah 9:9. Please see "Bible Tools" about what the Bible says about "Riding a Donkey as a Sign of Royalty." Learning about this makes me think of Mary, carrying the Messiah in her womb and riding a donkey. --Sandra
Lenn Burkitt thank you for the clarification. That was so kind of you to share your added knowledge. Isn’t this RU-vid community great?! Thank you for your additional insight. 🙏🏼😊💞
