Come Follow Me Enos - Words of Mormon (Mar. 23-29) 

I loved Emily's story about missing church for 6 months. I had a similar experience. My son almost died at 2 months old from pneumonia. He survived but I was not able to go to church for 3 months. Before this time, I remember wondering why I was even attending church. I had 3 preschoolers and I spent most of my time in the hall or mother's room. When I returned after 3 months I was struck by the overwhelming spiritual feeling I had when I entered the building. I was also struck by how I felt the spirit even in the hallways. This experience was such a testimony builder for me. There is such strength in meeting together!

I have a friend that leads another church. She said .”this could be a season of Sabbath. A chance for us to all slow down and concentrate on what is most important in our lives”

Watching this 4 years later... lol, "4 weeks." If you only knew what they had in store... the world took a left turn to crazy town. So glad we still have the gospel to guide us!

My ministering angels travelled a long way to give me the sacrament yesterday. A married couple. They really go the extra mile.

I love in Enos verse 12 that the Lord said to Enos "I will grant unto thee according to thy desires, because of thy faith." I think that's an amazing gift. and what did he say?? That the record would be preserved.... for us!!! He could have picked ANYTHING! Exalt my family...riches so I can serve...talents to be a more effective missionary....but no! We have the Book of Mormon!!

It’s so true that when you’re in idle that Satan will fill your mind and choices with wickedness but when you’re out and about staying busy the Lord will tend your mind with productive activities and personal revelations.

I have struggled with Come Follow Me since it started. Hubby and kids aren't that interested. Now we are doing church at home and I am overwhelmed. So much responsibility on my own. And After the kids are doing hours of homework each day they aren't interested in any more lessons or activities through come follow me. I really feel like our family is falling behind since church became more home centered. I know it is inspired and totally understand why we were asked to do it. Just hard when spouses and kids have no desire to do it at home. I am thankful for these videos and all the help that is out there.

Home has become more sacred since partaking of the sacrament at home.

I have my family dress in Sunday clothes to attend our home sacrament.

What Emily and David can do to make things better for the world? Don't (ever!) stop doing Come Follow Me! David, now that there are no baseball games you can continue your "Restoration on the Moon" (chuckle) classes! Love you guys. You have taught me so much and I have loved it as I learn.

I love these videos so much! The end reminded me of something Thomas S Monson said at the end of his life “I always want the Lord to know that if He needs an errand run, Tom Monson will run that errand for Him”

Emily...thank you for sharing your moments of returning back to church....cause here we are... with no date in sight of returning to “normal”. I am certain that that first Sunday back will be a very emotional time for everyone!!

Thank you for your help! Also, our youth have been preparing for this time. Let them teach! I hope families recognize the valuable resource of their youth as teachers in the home.

You guys are such a blessing!!! I'm normally a pretty shy person but from watching your channel for the past year I was completely comfortable doing church at my house yesterday with my family! I love how Emily has this crazy enthusiasm. "That is sooo goood" I have found myself saying that now in my house to my kids. "so good". This youtube channel is soooo goooood. Thanks for supporting us in the great slow down of 2020.

Watching in 2024 and this is bringing back memories. So much perspective. Hindsight is 20/20… 😂 I really did love that time so much. Sure, there was anxiety and challenges but it felt so sacred. So so sacred. Also, coming back to church was a little bit different I think than Emily’s experience. I felt a little sad when we had to wear masks and not sing. But at this point it just feels so good to go every week and have things be back to normal, with the shared experience of having been apart for so long.

Joseph Millett is my Great Grandfather (my paternal grandmother's father). Love that story so much!!

I love you both! Thank you for taking the time to do all that you do. Emily’s story about missing church reminds me of when the Houston Temple flooded during Harvey. Repairs took months and I missed it so much. The first time I walked in after it was reopened I wept. I couldn’t help but feel like I was finally home again.

I have to share because I think it's kind of funny. We live in a small ward in South Carolina. I homeschool my children, I'm the YW Pres, and my husband and I team teach the youth Sunday School Class. My husband is was the first counselor in the YM pres and is now a YM advisor. So... my poor kids have had us as their teachers for a while... in everything. When they were in primary I was the primary pres and my husband was my son's primary teacher. Seriously, my poor children. LOL! So... we're still those things. haha!

Thank you so much for sharing your testimony and thoughts and you're willingness to teach. I too missed church for a time. The sacrament hymn the first day I returned was, "I Stand All Amazed," which already had special meaning to me. I was so grateful that the those over the music chose that song, and I knew it was for me. The sacrament never tasted so sweet and my heart has never been so full.

I was inspired while listening to you talk about offering him our whole soul to recall the advice I have receive from Annie Hutchings, she is on youtube and shares a lot on instagram as well. She talks about what she calls a write and burn. You sit down and write out every thought that you have and every feeling that you are feeling, getting deep into the negative thoughts that you have suppressed, until you have filled at least three pages. If you don't have more to write, just sit for a minute and something will come. It is important to note that you need to write using the words "I feel" instead of "I am". This will help your brain to realize that you aren't the negative things that you think about yourself they are just feelings that come and need to be dealt with. After you have filled the pages, hold them out in your hands and visualize handing them over to Christ, allow him to take those thoughts from you. Then you either throw them in the garbage or into a fire, or whatever else you can think of. It seems so scary to offer our 'whole soul' to Christ, but when you have a physical exercise and visualization like this, it makes it actionable and helps you to realize that our savior will always be there to help you get through you sufferings. It is easy to hand him the fun and happy things, easy to pray about those and write those in our journal, but this is a way to make sure that we are offering our WHOLE soul. Thanks Annie, Dave, and Emily for helping me connect the dots and teaching me this powerful lesson.

Hungered=empty, weak, unsatisfied, starving, pain, anxious, craving. I know there are many times my soul hungers.

At home: More conversation and less teacher talk. Love and lots of structure.

Watching this in September. It was definitely NOT 2 weeks before we went back to church. 😊 But my ward met today for the first time since March as a whole for fast and testimony meeting and it was sweet and lovely and fulfilling.

I am already missing church. I only get to go 1 or 2 Sunday’s a month due to my job. I miss the sacrament. My husband has to work Sunday’s now due to this and so I don’t have anyone at home to administer it to my family.

What would you like your family life to be if you could design it for the long term? One very successful not- LDS family of 11 used to study form 9-12 everyday but Sunday and they graduated from BYU earlier than anyone had ever done (there may be a new record now, that was the 90's). Chores and devotionals before 9, lunch and playtime after. Assign a child to take charge of dinner and you just assist! Assign older kids to help tutor or play with the littles for 30 minutes so you can focus on another child. then trade! Be sure the kids know that you have some down time scheduled for you too!

Its funny that you mention people feeling overwhelmed because they are now everything (the teacher, primary president, YM/YW pres. ect) because that was exactly how I felt when the home centered church supported curriculum was first introduced at General Conference. You see I homeschool my children, I am their academic teacher ALL THE TIME. I also have callings where I work with the youth at activities. I also am a wellness coach so I council my children often. So when Come Follow Me for individuals and families came out I felt sooo overwhelmed. I was like, "Lord, you have already asked me to be my children's academic teacher, activities leader, and councilor! Now I am supposed to be their primary spiritual teacher too? Its too much. I can't do EVERYTHING by myself!" I am telling you this because I want to share what I felt after that pouring out of my soul. I was engulfed with peace. I was reminded that He never asked me to do anything by myself. He would always be with me, helping, guiding, and consoling. That was the answer to my prayer in 2018. Fast forward to present day. I have many friends who are now feeling those same feelings I felt back then. Because of that experience I can "mourn with those how mourn" and truly empathize with them. More importantly I can testify that they will not have to do this alone. That they, too, can turn to Christ and feel that same peace I felt all those months ago.

I recommend a book called Face to Face by S. Michael Wilcox. It will help you to see different facets to the process of prayer than you probably have.

We have an organ, but no one plays it.....think the last time was a few years ago when a sister missionary could play......it was so special. I love organ music, better than the piano.

sabbath will be different. Devotional, dress in church clothes. Only sabbath day activities. Will be great. Not overwhelmed at all, really loving to get back to our roots and focus on what really matters - Family and home gospel.

I have a degree in elementary education, but I have 2 teenage boys... any tips for getting teenagers more involved besides having them prepare talks or the lesson would be fabulous!

This is my first time listening. It was nice. Thank you. I giggled when you couldn't pronounce Amaleki's name because my husband and I disagreed on the pronunciation. Did you know at the end of the Book of Mormon (right after Moroni) there are all the names listed and the pronunciation of each?

I enjoy your presentations so much. I would suggest strongly to not wear black shirts, and for David to please unbutton the top button of his shirts, especially the Polo Shirts. It would look so much more friendly and fit your personalities. What you wear and what color you wear tells a lot and adds to your presentation immensely. Listen to inspired melodies and harmonies which are paired with divinely motivated texts, chosen by directors called of God and lovingly prepared, practiced and perfected over countless hours by gifted (or sometimes just willing and obedient) musicians called of God.
