This was great! I would encourage to look into the sorceries topic. Particularly the root words and what they were translated from. Obviously I means the word sorcery from the Bible. But I believe it would apply here too. I have been loving your videos. I have watched so many this week. Jacob chapter 5 is my chapter. The Lord used that chapter to call me back and I received a calling from him I must fulfill. ❤ You did a great job on that series of videos. I needed a reminder of those feelings and messages the Lord spoke to me as I read chapter 5. Thank you 🙏 ❤🎉
We were talking about the same thing about Joseph Smith was told not to join any of the churches, this is why. Priestcraft Creeps in through the cracks. Even apostles and Christ spoke about it in the New Testament. This activity is still going strong today when it comes to peacecraft even sorcery.
Haha! Glad you enjoyed it, Haley! Though you're the type that Elder Holland described when he speaks at the MTC--so in tune that you'd probably feel the Spirit if I was just reading the phone book :) But thanks so much for your kindness and encouragement!
Thank you for teaching me to know the things of the Lord in a way that helps me change my life for the better. I appreciate the time and effort you put into every lesson!! Coming from South Africa I realize how important it is to stand firm in my beliefs so that I can try and influence others in a good way.
Thank you so much for your kind words. What a blessing to make a friend on the other side of the world--and in such a beautiful area! Thank you for letting me join you in your study!
Another GREAT lesson thank you!! V4 - not a lie... we’ll all be saved at the last day... well physically anyway... Isn’t this the same tactic the adversary used on Eve?? I learned this lesson on my mission - how do you explain this particular side of salvation is available to ALL whether you do acknowledge the name of Christ or not??!!! The other verses that stood out to me were 24 & 25... I always feel so sad reading about this and had to remind myself this was written 2500 years ago, not of our particular current state of affairs. So many are asking for their names to be taken off the records - often it is wives who just want to support their RM husbands, couples who were sealed in the Temple and had children born in the Covenant... Yet many who have been excommunicated come back strong - not all but some. Alma 1 is an absolute and thorough description of our day!!!
Beautifully said! The Book of Mormon was definitely written for our day, and yes, the adversary doesn't seem to have changed his tactics much over the millennia--probably because he hasn't had to. We keep falling for it! I'm grateful the scriptures have so many hints as to how to overcome him!
Brother Halverson, are you planning on doing another lesson on the Atonement for Easter this year? I really enjoyed the one you did last year. I'm really curious to learn the insights you learned from someone else about the Atonement that changed your life (You talked about that in this video). That would make a great Easter lesson! Hint hint...
Another wonderful lesson. Thank you so much. However, I would be leery of referencing the sins of genocide and/or human trafficking as “innocuous”.They may not have been applicable, but they certainly are not “innocuous.“ at least in my opinion.
He shared the idea that since the Lord experienced all that we've been through, then He knows both the good and the bad in each of us--empathy across both ends of the spectrum. And since any good we've done to others is good we've done to God (Mosiah 2:17; Matt. 25:40), then perhaps Gethsemane also allowed Him to feel all the good in people, and all that we did FOR HIM! In a way, that allows each of us to join the angel in "strengthening" Jesus during that ordeal. It also shows that humanity is redeemable--and worth redeeming! That there is good in us that is worth saving! I love pondering that possibility.
Both :) I was born and raised in the Church, but had to come to know these things for myself. Like Alma, who credited his testimony to his fasting and prayer, not just the experience with the angel, I am incredibly thankful for all my parents taught me, but my real "conversion" was a personal (and ongoing) experience between me and God. Thanks for asking!
@@Unshaken thanks you for your reply :) I was just curious because you mentioned Divinity School. I too was born into the church and had to find out for myself. In my family it was expected that I would be active. I said "no" and I went on my own discovery mission and am now extremely "Unshaken". Thanks for your videos :)
