The presence of horses in the promised land is mentioned eight times in the Book of Mormon (1 Nephi 18:25 (churchofjesuschrist.org/scrip...) ; Enos 1:21 (churchofjesuschrist.org/scrip...) ; Alma 18:9-12 (churchofjesuschrist.org/scrip...) ; 20:6 (churchofjesuschrist.org/scrip...) ; 3 Nephi 3:22 (churchofjesuschrist.org/scrip...) ; 4:4 (churchofjesuschrist.org/scrip...) ; 6:1 (churchofjesuschrist.org/scrip...) ; Ether 9:19 (churchofjesuschrist.org/scrip...) ). Archaeological evidence for the presence of the horse in the pre-Columbian Americas is scant and inconclusive.
