Please share your story! I am seriously thinking of retiring in Gander. I'm even considering changing my savings account name to Retiring to Gander account for motivation.
Completely agree with your review. Everyone should see Come From Away. I have the soundtrack on endless repeat, and miss the bits that aren't in it, such as the barbecues. I want to see it again, maybe I need to go to London, though over 5,000 miles (8,700km) to see it might be a tad extreme.
Glad You Like the musical But as a fellow Canadian and Newfoundlander just a few things Newfoundland is not an island just off of Canada ...it is a island that is PART of Canada And we call it a Newfoundlander accent... not a Gander accent - I got what you meant though But again glad you gave if 5/5 islands
I just saw the show on tour here in Vancouver and every word Georgie says is absolutely true. One of the best nights of theatre I’ve ever had. I left feeling like I had been given a warm loving hug. Go see it if you have the chance.
Totally agree with you it's amazing saw it two weeks ago might have to watch it for a second time tomorrow night as were in London watching Joseph in the afternoon!
Hey Georgie , this musical is such an amazing story of the people back home in Newfoundland. I have seen it a few times now on this side of the Atlantic ( including at home in Newfoundland) . Im planing a trip to london this summer for the first time and can't wait to see it again.
I saw the show on Broadway in 2017 and absolutely loved it. I went in London about a month ago and bawled my eyes out. I'm taking my parents on Thursday as a treat and I'm really excited to see it again and for them to see it. Me and the Sky is such an incredible song. Have you seen Six? I would love to hear your thoughts on that.
Gander is a city in Newfoundland and Labrador which is a province in Canada (therefore it is part of Canada not off of Canada). The reason it has such a large airport is when planes used to fly overseas they would have to refuel so they'd stop in Gander to refuel. Then as technology advanced & planes could make it on longer haul flights without refueling the stopover was no longer needed. I agree this musical was done brilliantly. It truly showcases the kindness of the Canadian spirit.
So glad this came up in my suggestions! Have been looking for more musical theatre people to follow and you’re so cute and cheerful ❤️ Really want to see Come From Away 😭 it’s next on my list when I lift my ticket buying ban
I went to London for a week and I really wanted to see it. I went twice 😅 I was 2 when 9/11 happened so of course I don't remember a thing except what they're teaching us at school. But none of my teachers ever talked about the US air space's closing, or the planes which were diverted, or Gander. Come from away has to be one of the best musical I've ever seen and probably ever will 💛💙 It's just phenomenal, the actors are all just amazing (and Rachel Tucker is a goddess !) and I just loved the set design wih only chairs and tables, really clever and well done ! I hope it will stay forever in London, I really want to see it again 😍 I loved your review btw, totally agree with what you said😊
I am from Canada and my dad is from Gander (there is a military base nearby and his dad was posted there when he was a kid) so I did know about this, but even in the Maritimes in Canada we don't really learn about this side of 9/11.
That's what I've heard a few times over. After all, it was enough for the buses just to get the people to places. Imagine carting all that luggage? Besides, the planes weren't going anywhere.@@MondoMiami
