My 3 year old APHA hangs his head real low. I was pumped when he finally showed his comfort. He was a horse that held uncomfortably high headed. I think it is a huge sign of comfort and feeling safe. I am getting him trained for Reining, Barrels and cows. His head being low let's you know they are feeling good.....

i absolutely love your training style. I would love for you to get a horse that is not traditionally bred for reining (NFQHA) and see what you could do with it. My mare is a great reiner (for me) and is a foundation mare. I was told she would not have talent. but she seeks the stop, really works her spins and can roll back on a dime and give you change.

@elizabethjenkins762
@elizabethjenkins762 4 года назад
@@mattmillsreining1 well why i suggested a NFQHA is because they are the foundation of the Aqha Breed. so really they are not a different breed persay... more a slightly different structure. A foundation bred horse would be a lot more like a reined cow horse. You have been my number one trainer i watch. I love how soft you are with your horses and how you are not always in your horses face, and allow them to make mistakes and learn at their own speed.

I really really love this channel. It seems like horse vlogs have been taken over by 15 year old girls. Which is cool for them but when did boys stop wanting to be cowboys? There is a huge vacuum for well made, well edited, horse content for guys, that’s actually entertaining. Long form as well. I could stand a longer video. Wish it was a full on tv show. It seems like so many events oriented around the horse forget to actually talk about their horses in a personal way. The day to day stuff. Actually forming a relationship with these animals. You never hear people talk about horse racing and actually talk about the horses. Just the odds and the money and the owners. Like any you person interested in horses is fantasizing about being an owner who doesn’t even get to ride the horse. You know your horses and you seem genuinely interested in every aspect. I think the more you show the more you’ll see how much people are craving this kind of stuff. Making the horses the star again and showing them in this beautiful facility. Thank you.

Once you got on Carmine, he was in his element. I don't see any spurs on Matt now. I wonder what his bit looks like. It used to be bits were so heavy and abusive. My father was so sensitive with his horses that he didn't like using the bit but he knew he'd have to if we're going to ride them. Your stalls are fabulous.

Matt i love how you handle a horse. To be specific how soft your hands are. I watched other people and i see the dead submissive look in the horse. You get the soft be asking and your horse are still alive! The judges should be putting you and your horses on top . Dont change what you know is right . Stay true to the horses, stay true to you. And if Taylor gets another show on tv he better get you back in it and show your real abilities. He short changed you . Lol i know it was for the good of the drama . Good luck at the next show, and i hope to see you show the next time your in Oklahoma.

The headset demo was good though what I don't like to see that I don't see with you but some other very top trainers, is the horse going full speed with a very low head but behind the bit - that is certainly not natural - it looks to me like they have some kind of spade bit or something and are very intimidated, they look as if they can't even really watch where they are going. Anyway, the headset on this perlino looks natural - it is low but his nose is relaxed especially in the no bit demo maybe an inch in front of the vertical which just looks relaxed and natural. Anyway, love meeting these 3 years olds -- must sure be fun to have so many nice ones - very interested to follow Blondie as loved her sister - those other palomino colts are just too pretty.

Thanks for watching. Unfortunately once we begin putting sliding plates on their hind feet we cannot put them together due to safety. However they do get turnout time next to each other.
