In this video I'm talking about why I moved to Thailand, why it's my favourite country, how it has changed over the past 15 years and why you need to come to Thailand now before it's too late! Newsletter: www.itsalexbentley.com

Your generation has it easy now days as world travelers. My first experience traveling through Southeast Asia, ( 4 months of exploration ), was back in 1981. The days before wifi & internet. “The Lonely Planet” was our traveling Bible. Back then Bali and Phuket were only visited by backpackers. Mass tourism has changed these once isolated places.
🙏Out of school, looking for my next place to work... saw some relevant job postings. I have been starting to learn some basic Central Thai, learning more of the culture.. it's been an inspiration I can't quite describe. I really hope to at least visit soon. Hearing other people's experiences like this is very helpful and insight, thank you!!
Well said brother. At the end it felt like you were talking directly to me lol. I have a lot here in America I have to get all automated and the. I’ll be there. Hope your the type to meet people and network :). Thanks for the content
You know what steals the most magic of all? The spread of English (like cancer). You used to have to actually EARN everything when traveling. Like my first visit to Beijing in 2002, my friend and I sat down to read the menus, no pictures back then of course, and the only dish I could recognize on the menu wasn't even a dish: I recognized ONE CHARACTER that meant "chicken". And... yeah. Later we found out how dangerous that is, as a "field" "chicken" in Chinese is frog actually lol. But we were staring and that night we ate at least, my lazy friend didn't recognize anything and if for him we'd have starved.
I think if you really want to have this feeling nowadays you need to go to places like Uganda. In Thailand depending on where you go you feel more like you are in Europe than anywhere. The amount of tourists is just insane.
great video, I honestly think digital nomads are kinda obnoxious cuz they just churn and turn the hottest locales (not all of course :) that comment about how hard it was to contact people hit home for me. I was in the Philippines in 2009 for work and remember staying up after getting done w work at 7am to go to a cafe to talk to people back home and the chat I used was blocked after all that 🙃
You young fellows talking about the early days... Good on you mate... I remember when all you had were Lonely Plant Guides, everyone had one in their hand... Cheers mate
