long before kurt were backpackers otw around the world. you stay in poor countries with nothing to do there, there is no tourism nothing to explore. ok you do a 30 min video but the rest of the day..... that the point i didnt start my travel tour. i go to soutamerica i explore the jungle via the amazonas river with a boat tour and have a nice ride ok. to explore it per feet is too dangerous, so i can visit a local town and can go to the only bar there exist and have a drink an maybe i can talk a few words with locals the other option is to visit the inca ruins in the ands but nothing else. thats all done in a few days. this is all overhyped as hell and you need a lot of money to do that.
@jimjustice581, I'm sorry for whatever conditions prevent you from traveling. Some are able-bodied but the time/financials are not there so effectively they likewise do even as you are! I really enjoy the fact of how Kurt may not even speak the language but still manages to communicate and make friends. I think part of that is just how genuine he is in his interactions with people.♥

That kind of stuff is surprisingly common amongst non-westerners. Years ago I worked with a bunch of Ethiopian guys on an afternoon/evening shift, and they brought chat (khat) to work one night, and I gave it a try. Felt like caffeine on steroids, like when you have a couple too many cups of coffee and get the jitters. I don’t know how Kurt takes the stuff in the amounts he does-I presume coca and betel nut have the same kind of affects as chat/khat.

Tuk tuks are okay but you need to know what an appropriate local price is. Problem with tuk tuks is it's open air so you're breathing all the tail pipe emissions. Best to take after midnight if you want the experience.

You can live there a month on 1 weeks paycheck. Work 3 or 4 months and go party the rest of the year. Fully furnished apartments around $280 a month. In some places you can still eat out 3x a day on a $5 bill. It's so cheap in the Land of Smiles.
Why not….. family responsibilities and a small business to run. And I do good to afford to live where I do. Here in the North East USA, 2 bedroom apt rent = $2200 a month. And a 3 bedroom house starts at $350,000.
Watching kurt for so long it's a different but pleasant feeling watching him get noticed. Feel like I'm watching a seed sprout into a beautiful flower.
I've watched tons of travel videos on Thailand because I am going there to visit in November, but Kurt's videos always seem to be more entertaining then the others.

I spend my winters in Thailand. I just arrived back in the US 24 hours ago after being there for just under 4 months this winter. I love Thailand from north to south and into Issan to the Cambodian border. Good to see you there Kurt. You are right about the people. They among the finest in the world, kind, generous and friendly. As for foot massages when the day is hot it is a perfect way to spend an hour out of the sun. For me I got one almost everyday! I'll be back again in December later this year. Enjoy the journey Kurt. Still awesome! Great new video. But.. Careful the cameraman, Kurt. Going “ third person” production creates that “ fourth wall” as its called. Might lose the successful first person, intimate, private tag-along tension that formed with the slower dialog, of earlier videos, those careful words and thoughts, that cautious, deliberate, up close, methodic, isolated feeling or pace of “the lone traveler” … that brought your unique success.
