So I often get asked where do you get all your stock. Well now it is mostly other collectors downsizing or outright selling thier collections, unlike 10- 18 years ago when I just opened the store that doesn’t happen very often anymore. Back in the day I would get a decent collection once a month or so, and you could still find decent records at thrift stores and garage sales. Well back then I would pull all the more expensive stuff and sell it in the store and just put the other stuff into storage. Luckily for me, tastes have changed and some of that stuff that wasn’t worth putting out is stuff new collectors want when they are rebuilding their collections, or just starting out. Case in point, my last two copies of Tracey Chapman Debut album came out of boxes from the “Dungeon”. Back in the day thst record was not something that people asked me for so I just stuck it in storage. Now I cant keep it in stock. So I give you a quick peek down into the darkness and pull out a few boxes and see what we find.

Loving this video. I was doing a lot of selling like 10 years ago. I remember the days when Rumours was a bargain bin record you had to just take along with all the stuff in the collection that you actually wanted. I also remember when Tracy Chapman was worthless. I remember the guy I did most of my selling with had a copy out for like $5 in his indoor flea market booth. It was still unsold when he closed it down. I recently saw he sold a copy on eBay for like $60. I wonder if it was the same copy. Cool to see For Ladies Only. I was just playing that CD in the car yesterday. That's a great album few seem to know about. Maybe it will also be "reappraised" soon. Greatest gatefold ever.

I am always baffled how Steppewolf doesn’t get the props that other bands of the 60’s do. So my last Tracey Chapman I felt bad asking $50 (Canadian dollars) for a few months back. The people who bought it were tourists from Los Angeles and they thought it was cheap lol. They told me a really well known store in LA who shall remain nameless had it for $85 US Dollars. It’s crazy how that happens.

Come down to prudommes antiques in vineland. Ask for Ryan in the main house. Bottom basement he has around 20 000 records.

Sadly limited space. However with it being harder to find collections to buy these days I think I will be dipping into the Dungeon more and more

Times have changed. The bargain bins always had Thriller, Rumors, Shaun Cassidy, and Frampton comes alive. Not anymore. Tens of millions made of those titles and now get high prices

About two weeks ago, I passed up a clean copy of FM Rumours for $2. My dad had the album when it first came out on cassette and I’m honestly bored with it at this point. No doubt it’s a classic but was more excited to find YES Going for the One and UFO No Heavy Petting

There are a lot of “classic” albums that I have just about played out at this point.

I cant even explain how unloved vinyl was in the 90s. Pearl Jam was literally the ONLY band extolling the virtues of vinyl. With the recent resurgence, it makes it seem like a thousand years ago. Those were the glory days of collecting. But you felt like a luddite, and most people looked at you, like you were psycho. I lived in a tiny apartment at the time, so i couldnt buy everything i wanted. No complaints though, got some good stuff. Own 30,000 now

That is a huge collection. Congratulations. Mine is only somewhere between 2000-3000, but I have tried to downsize on several occasions. People really forget how worthless vinyl became to people once they switched over to CD.
