Man, those opening lines alone captured me. “I quit drinking again, it’s been five days since Thursday, my heads caving in I’m so bored” I felt every word of that, down to the Thursday part. Been an alcoholic for a long while, last Thursday I made a lot of decisions I ain’t proud of, and I’ve been sober since. Anyways, beautiful song as always Carson. Thank you for sharing your gift of songwriting with us.
Dude, we don't need to know the backstory. The song stands on its own. Artists have direct connection to unexplained and immeasurable creative forces. Trust the Light that leads you. Beauty will save the world.
As a lyricist Carson is approaching the rarified heights of Townes Van Zant, Guy Clark and my personal favourite, Gram Parsons. Yes your that good, Carson.
You're a great songwriter. Simple words, but honest and moving. It takes years of working on your craft to get there. It's really a wonderful gift. Thank you for sharing these songs with us.
i have to say. when we are young sometimes we feel invisible. when you are adulting sometimes life smacks you around. there have been a few tunes that struck me just when i needed it. music is powerful and gives you a lift like a spotter at the gym helping regain your strength
Wow, love it. It brought a tear to my eye 😢. If this is truly autobiographical, much luck with your comeback season. I have been worried about you ever since you do not make videos with Josh anymore. Have you guys officially broken The Other Favorites up? If so, it is so sad. You made sooo much wonderful music together. Much Love and Many Blessings, 💗Debbie
The guitar sounds great as does the melody...and with the lyrics on top it is a song worthy of any songwriter...and worthy of the great setting of "The Other Favorites" album...Keep going, Carson.
There are so many amazing talents on youtube, Carson, but your voice makes you a stand out on top as far as Karen and I are concerned. Wishing you all the best. ~ Mark & Karen
i’ve really enjoyed seeing you grow into your own. we have a very similar voice range so growing up a few years behind you, my goal was to always have that simple, non dramatic voice you have that just sounds so lovely. i’m going to see josh turner in washington dc as part of the bygones in april, would absolutely love to see you there. but i know things happen and your journey is your own.
You have a gift Carson, glad you’re sharing it with all of us. I know you’ve said before that you’re not a religious person, so I hope you accept the prayers that are being lifted in your name. Whether this song is self reflecting , or just good writing, everybody can use a prayer now and again.
Very good songwriting Carson. Obviously comes from the heart. Love the chords and what sounds like a drop D. Burlington Bill (some new stuff on you tube) busking on the road and you tube!
