Comedian Geoff Norcott defends Ricky Gervais over trans joke 

He wasn't mocking the weirdos who try to enter women's toilets as much as the weirdos who defend their justification for doing so.

It's an absolutely fantastic show. Me and the wife laughed our arses off! Proper comedy.

Ricky is a comedy genius. I watched him last night before going to the pub and I sat in the pub laughing out loud. Brilliant!

Ricky's standup on Netflix, was a tour de force, of great comedy. I loved it. It got a double thumbs up on Netflix from me. Bring back real comedy, and let the woke and snowflakes go broke.

He was spot on with his comedic take around this subject, good for him. The only thing I had a problem with was, after this ( the jokes) he said he respected trans rights, now as far as I'm aware, trans people are human beings and just like the rest of us they have human rights, they should not be given preferential treatment just because they say they should have it.

Not anti trans. Highlighting the comedy of the conversation between woman (and people questioning the potential erosion of women’s right due to trans ideology and proposed legislation) and extreme trans activists. These are actual words used regularly on Twitter and Ricky delivered it hilariously.

Ricky Gervais doesn't *_need_* "defending". He expressed his opinions of "trans", which are different from those of some "trans activists". What he did was perfectly valid. There *_is_* no problem.

It's insulting to women to think we all have one type of "female" mind yet we're condemned as hateful for merely pointing out it's our bodies that group us together not our minds. No-one is wishing trans people harm. There are plenty of trans activists threatening and even assaulting women though.

I recently rewatched Bernard Manning on RU-vid to check my memory. His comedy wasn't unkind. Racist by modern standards certainly, but so is my mum and she's one of the most decent people I ever met and has never mistreated anyone.

I was going to cancel my subscription to Netflix due to the inane subject material but will now keep it going to see if more 'humorous' content like this is aired

Ricky is actually being very inclusive. He makes fun of everything and everyone. Do the 'Trans Community' want to be left out?

It was the best comedy show I've seen in years. Anyone who takes offence at his humour must, in my opinion, be very unsure of themselves and not able to distinguish between a stage act and real life. The Northern comics of the 1970's, such as Bernard Manning, were brilliant as they joked about real life in the same way. Especially with TV, if you personally don't like it or are offended just switch off. Don't ever try to tell other people they should be offended just because you are. That makes you sound like a puritan or a 1950s religious minister, and who knows what they did behind closed doors! Lighten up and enjoy good comedy, free speech and everything that goes with it! Ricky gets my vote!

I'm not offended by trans etc as long as they don't bother me which includes telling me what pronouns I can/not use and changing anything in my lifestyle which includes sharing toilets/sport etc. A trans can feel like a woman but can never actually be a woman biologically.

These are spotlight events - the problems are in workplace and study arenas where individuals are being crucified for the odd misplaced word : no one dares speak for them
