From my personal collection (Tape #700, #959 and #1000). These short-lived bumpers were used by Comedy Central briefly preceding (and into) their early 2004 "Urban" rebrand. Stylistically, they are all reimagined and remixed versions of network IDs previously used from late 2000 to 2003 that segue into the channel's new gritty, graffiti-inspired look. The examples showcased here were recorded after Comedy Central programming between December 29, 2003 and February 14, 2004.

Interesting fact: the bumper at 1:28 was the first thing broadcast by Comedy Central in 2004 as it was recorded right at 12:00am, New Year's Day.

God I love these bumpers, the perfect blend of the 2000 era's poppiness and the 2004 era's grittiness. it's a crime that these weren't used longer into the Urban rebrand

I really love it when channels acknowledge their branding, especially when transitioning from one branding to the next like what CC did here, wish other channels would do stuff like this.

Love these bumpers! It's a shame they didn't last so long with how creative they are reimagining the 2000 era bumpers.

These bumpers were so funky and cool, but I knew that CC's "Urban" rebrand was officially debuted on Valentine Day 2004!
@TVsFenwick
@TVsFenwick Год назад
It wasn't, we have examples of those Urban Era elements all in use as early as February 4, 2004.

@@TVsFenwick So, it is really true that the Urban era was fully debuted on February 4, 2004, plus the transition bumpers were retired on February 14, 2004 (Valentine's Day)?
@TVsFenwick
@TVsFenwick Год назад
Our current earliest date for the launch of Urban is currently January 31 - February 4, 2004. We actually have evidence of these bumpers being used as late as 2007, but they appear to have been mostly phased out sometime in 2004.

Fun fact: Some of these bumpers are in higher quality on some of the Comedy Central DVDs. Like the Daily Show Indecision 2004 DVD set has the bumpers from 0:00, 0:39 and 1:28. and the Mind of Mencia Season 1 DVD set has the bumper from 1:08. Also, was there anything during the transition from the Scrapbook to the Comedymark era, because I know the website had a transitional logo (used during January 2011) using the 2000s building logo (in white) with the 2011 Comedymark logo (in either pink or lime) on the top right corner.

There's a promo somewhere on here for the "50 Greatest SNLs" marathon that aired from December 24-28 featuring more early glimpses of the Urban rebrand. Its rather interesting in hindsight seeing SNL paired with these graphics as they were rolling it out around the time their syndication rights for the show lapsed. (FTR, CC's last SNL episode was the 7pm airing of Sylvester Stallone/Jamiroquai on December 30.)

I have a copy of that promo on one of my tapes! I believe I'm still currently dating when the commercials are from but it's from mid-late December. Also, Comedy Central actually ran SNL as late as December 17, 2016! See ccarchive.fandom.com for more details.

I was just referring to CC's original run of SNL, before they surrendered the rights to the E! Network.
