Are you aware of Aristotle's basic theory of tragedy vs. comedy? In a comedy, the main actor, up to a point, deserves the unfortunate things that happen to them. In a tragedy the character does not deserve the unfortunate things that happen to them. I don't think this inherently conflicts with your theory of tragedy and comedy. For example a comedic character can have a flaw, and totally deserve all the things that happen to them because of that flaw but learn from these things and overcome them. As far as tragedy goes, the character can have a flaw, not overcome it and succumb to it, but the audience can still be left with the sense that their fate is still undeserved/unjust or not right. For example Anikan's flaw being fear, was manipulated into committing the atrocities he committed. However, I still felt bad for him as a character because he did not deserve to have his flaw exploited so horribly.
