Roger Water's concerts intro through several songs from The Wall, including Comfortably Numb, The Happiest Days of our Lives and Another Brick in the Wall Parts 2 & 3. Filmed in ATL.
If you don't know the workings of David and Roger's mind heart and soul you'll never truly them. In 2011 Roger said he stayed as true to the Pink Floyd sound as possible during his wall tour but the original sound could never be recreated. They were never friends outside of PF, they were work mates, artistic geniuses who always had differences but compromised to create the sound that will live for eternity. Comfortably Numb being the one artistic difference that finished the Pink Floyd we all know and love.
Bullshit. Fought with his bandmates, he admitted he was wrong, married at least 4x, supports dictators and regardless of what he says is a flaming capitalist who thinks he's a socialist. Nothing special about him Great musician, creative genius but there are other's who have sacrificed so much more for the world.
unfortunately he's getting old, 79, gosh! Im glad I saw him many times before. Ill pass this time. It lacks much of the energy and the superior sound of his prior tours.
@@Sanguo3 i watched the entire concert on RU-vid. It's still a great show with all the effects but cmon he sounds bad compared to his previous tours, the back vocals jump right in to carry him. Its not his fault, he's 80, plus comfortably numb was butchered. Its time for him to retire to Venezuela
El paso del tiempo demuestra que es una obra maestra del culto de la música por siempre hermano del corazón Roger waters. Saludos de rino tuccini argentina
I found this rendition of comfortably numb to be softly amazing and beautiful in it’s own way. However, Roger is clearly doing this version to remove Gilmore out of one of the best works of music he’s ever done and that’s just really sad. Even David’s distinctive high vocal segments have been altered to a lower register. Unfortunately, the reality is that the guitar solos, 1 and 2, are the soul and emotion of Comfortably Numb and make the song a masterpiece of emotion. I love Roger and his mastery of songwriting and concepts that have meant so much to so many, but this particular decision on one of their most recognizable songs reeks of petty resentment that robbed the fans of the magic they wanted to experience at the show. It would be as if David played brain damage/eclipse and left the lyrics out just to spite Roger. Silly and unfortunate.
Don’t think so. The tone and overall meaning of the song was interpreted differently for sure. It’s very dark. I was shocked and amazed at the same time. I think it was handled VERY well. A new spin on PF’s most popular song.
Couldn't agree more with you Chris; so clear to me as well. There's no doubt whatsoever Roger's had an antagonist relationship with David, deserved or not. Certainly one of 3 of my favorite songs, this, Us and Them, Any Color you want -- all 3 have that same atmospheric. And yes as much as Roger authored these incredible pieces, David's musical genius imbued them with technicolor :)
Roger has always been quite egotistical about his writing and music. The Wall is perfect proof of that. (I love the band and Roger but this is just clear as day in my opinion.)
I think I quite like the new rendition of comfortably numb…it very haunting ….it’s his song and like Dylan’s work it’s over 40 years old and it’s been updated ??
Comfortably Numb without David Gilmour is a lot like an Oreo Cookie without the frosting in the middle. Besides, I couldn't bring myself to donate the price of a ticket to the cause of Waters's $300+ million fortune. Especially for what amounts to a *_Pink Floyd v. 0.25_* Show. Hard pass for me. As Gilmour and Mason have, understandably, hung their hats, I'd rather see Brit Floyd. At least they recognize the brilliance of the music as it was originally created and performed.
RW is so full of himself, probably believing all PF records (till final cut) should sound like this. Sorry bro, but DG can’t be missed here. A great gig in the sky remake
Не понимаю зачем Роджер испортил такой всемирный шедевр. Так нельзя делать. Должно быть наследие Пинк Флойд. Когда уйдете в мир иной потомки будут слушать первоначальный оригинал.
I have relistened to it a few times now, still don't know what to make of it. Definitely not as good as when I saw Gilmour play it in 88 and 94, but still mind blowing.
