Comfortably Numb / Happiest Days of our Lives / Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 & 3. Roger Waters opening night of “This is Not a Drill” July 6,2022 PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh PA - from the 3rd row lower bowl
I believe it’s the maturity level of the audience. I saw this show and the audience was dead quiet during this song. It was refreshing to know an arena full of people could be this courteous to each other.
Much like Us + Them and The Wall, he’ll probably make a movie and release the soundtrack for it seperately, so we will eventually get that live recording in all its glory.
This opening song had the greatest sound quality I have ever heard or ever will hear in my entire life. The entire set was amazing but something about the sound quality of this track with the lightning made my arm hairs stand when I saw it in person.
im 13 and loooove pink floyd and roger waters and saw this concert last night, it was my first concert and oh my god it was so cool. i literally cried bc i was so overcome with emotion
Congratulations, all the other concerts of the bands that you ever might see, will stand in the shadow of this one concert that you have seen forever. 😎
I did not cry when I was in my teen years, but at 53 I do at some points. The quad female vocals at the start of Great Gig get to me for some reason. But only Waters for me.
Absolutely! Rogers is the songwriter and lyrics of PF. You see that element big time in his solo music. David is the voice and guitar of PF, you can also hear that in his solo music as well. I like them both, some albums better than others. Both solo shows are fantastic and they play PF just fine!
Absolutely.... love Roger and David so much and thank them for all the journeys they did w me growing up. Thank u 4 30 years of the greatest music i will ever listen to
My mom and I are going soon I can't wait😭😭😭😭 Update: Most amazing concert of my life😍 No words can describe the feeling of being there. Absolutely jaw dropping and breathtaking
Hahaha right on! Glad you had a great time🤘😎yup, saw him for my 4th time here in Austin, TX last week! So good! Check out his Instagram and the clip from Austin and you’ll see me, my wife and 2 1/2 year old daughter rockin out with her lollipop🤣👍🍭
I do too but this opening is fucking dreadful! His ego has finally turned the corner. Shitty film and background vocals are worst I've heard from Floyd camp yet. Wake up, suckers!
Wow, what an amazing version of Comfortably Numb. Subdue the music, and even the lyrics were partially subdues, which resulted in the lyrics being so very powerful, just like they were when The Wall was first released.
Juat saw this in Miami w my 20 year old son. What a moment for me that i will never forget. I love Pink Floyd and Roger Waters so much and this intro was perfect. The sound system, the shrooms kicking in, i was 1 with my moment. I couldnt stop from crying tears of joy for being able to experience what i was experiencing at that moment. Thank u father for the gift of my amazing life to be able to have shared such an amazing moment w my first born and the kid that saved my life.
Thank´you Roger for make this arrange to Comfortably Numb, its a miracle¡¡. I´m a person who grew with the song, I´m 51 years old, after all my way this versión finally at the end of my life makes me feel comfortably numb, And then one day you find ten years have got behind you, no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun, and now the child is grow, but the dream not gone......I´ll be waiting for you at oct 14 in Mexico City¡¡
Oh. My. God. I seem to be having trouble picking my jaw up off the floor. I sincerely hope I can see Roger in Denver, Colorado. His music is medicine for me.
Comfortably Numb on a whole new level!! I was blown away by this version after all the years of seeing them live.Very chilling and emotional with the sound effects and images.I was sitting just two rows away from the stage.
I saw it last week and I know what you mean. Comfortably numb was almost scary. Made me really think about the song’s relevance to today. What an experience it all was.
Just saw him in MN and also saw the US and THEM show a few years back. To fans who have not seen this show, please GO! Brought me to tears 😭. So awesome!
To take one of Pink Floyds most famous songs and reimagine it as a guitar solo-less intro to a show is in my mind pure musical genius on Rogers behalf - I wish I was there
One of my greatest concert moments was singing Comfortably Numb with 50,000 Floyd fans at Schaeffer Stadium in '89. Gotta see this when he gets back to the UK!!!!
Only someone as brilliant as RW could take an absolutely perfect song like Comfortably Numb and come up with a totally compelling alternative version. He is my god because some of the stuff he's created is, to me at least, beyond human capability and comprehension.
The opener was the show stopper. Blown away by this version of Comfortably Numb. I took my boss, a first timer, to the show. " never seen or heard anything like that in my life "he said. Also just the mix of young and old at the bar before hand. Some are teaching the children.....proper education..
Amazing version! The greatest genious of Pink Floyd! With something to say, worried about the world and not the bank account! Music is much more than sounds, it is also about meaning and true feelings!
Worried about his Bank account? Roger has over $30 BILLION ! This Is Not a Drill Tour was Planned to go thru USA in 2020 before the Election but was delayed due to Covid. He was trying to Tour Against Trump? Why sbud the Opinion of a RICH BRITISH musician matter in the USA politics, if THAT Changes your mind u are worse than sheep, more like Lemmings? The pied piper is calling u to join him? On a stairway to Heaven?
Saw the LA show. Amazing version, and I’m the biggest David Gilmour fan, but even without the solos it’s fabulous. Great songs can be done in many different versions. For some reason this pared down version was sadder and more desperate. Incredible show
My son went to this show in Pittsburgh. He says it was awesome. Epic. I'm so glad he got to see it. Some people did leave! Fools! Go Roger !! Hope you keep it up! He is amazing and spot on politically. He leans nowhere. Criticized EVERYONE-- as we all should!
@@HR-rt9nh must be your design. You're obviously misinformed. He criticizes both harshly. Always has. You've totally missed his message or just dont know what you're talking about . That's on YOU even if you're not your own thinking and repeat others who are misinformed or puppeteering you to spread THEIR agenda . Strattle your own nuts if you have them( metaphorically if you havent, mam)
@@ss67camaronut nope i am very comfortable with my knowledge of Pink Floyd history, Waters history, how he is at concerts having been to a couple of Pinks and several of waters shows. and I can say with out a doubt.... he is a leftist SOB. does not take away from his music... but his views are 100% left .
Roger's politics aren't overly important to me. His music, Pink Floyd's music, is far more important. Yes, he does have capitalist, socialist, and various other tendencies. But no one person or country is going to succeed in trying to scare him to be something else. Even if so-called free countries force censorship on a album cover.
@@dgk42 yes that was my point. 78 and still sounds and performs great , speaks his mind freely caring not if what he says doesn't conform to anyone else's agenda. He criticizes all . And says he doesn't care who disagrees, and that they are as free to leave as he is to speak his mind and doesn't apologize to anyone who disagrees. And all through music. Freakn AWESOME music too. Points out some truths about left, right, and middle that everyone should care about . The flying pig and anti fascist message and the presidential murder list are attempts to shock us away from any side and open our eyes to the death we cause while destroying our planet. RW is goin strong at 78 and I hope he keeps goin as long as he wants. Pink Floyds music lives in all of us . Its music that you truly feel and RW just wants us to think and reflect through the feels. 🤘😛♥️🏴☠️
Me too!! Going next wed. To Albany NY! Can't wait! So glad I got my tickets last year! First time ever seeing him ! My older brother had set up for Pink Floyd in Toronto and after the sound check David Gilmour walked past him and said ...It sounds pretty good eh mate ??!! My older brother was a good drummer and set up a lot of stages for lighting and sound! All across the country for a lot of famous artists. RIP BROTHER GARY LEWIS!
Seen the show in Vancouver about a month ago and it was incredible, when the thunder hits on this first part you can feel it in the bathroom according to my buddy
THANK YOU TOM FOR NOT TURNING OFF YOUR CELL PHONE!! I am 65 and will be going w my reunited SOULMATE (from the 70s) and my 25-yr old boys. THUS ... making this ... a WONDERFUL LIFE!! Thank you Roger!! 💞💗💖❤🔥💕💋💯💥💫🎼🎹🎸🎶🔥💎👑🕊✝🌷
Saw the show last night in Philadelphia. Walked right up the box office with a local bud, dropped $150. 50ydr line up, section 118. INCREDIBLE show! the graphics the musicians. this rendition is TopShelf. seeing RW again in DC in 2 wks. 🙏🏻 🐖 🐕 🐑 🎸 💗
What does Roger Waters think about war in Ukraine? Ukrainian people is suffering Russian agression!!! Russia ties to kill us ... Ukrainian old people, women, children. Unfortunately, the great musician is mistaken if he considers the Nazi authorities in Ukraine to be to blame. Nazis are not Ukrainians, a real psychopath and Nazi Putin! Where is that Roger Waters whose songs I always listened to with great pleasure? Where is the Roger Waters whose citizenship I have always admired?
Saw the show 2 days ago in columbus oh. This is the start of the best indoor concert I have ever seen. Parts were uncomfortable, but that is the brilliance of Mr Walter's. You think
man i watched this show in miami and it was awesome. first concert ever as well. what an experience and the ending with the emotional rendition of outside the wall was amazing. i think roger needs to put the wall on broadway
OMG! it’s GREAT to hear them actually really sing without pre recorded vocals! I’m not accusing them of using pre recorded vocals in the past, it’s just disappointing to hear so many bands using pre recorded vocals that it’s great to hear Pink Floyd singing live.
You sir have regained my respect.! After the Us and Them nonsense I was very reluctant to buy a ticket. I love this version of Comfortably Numb.. Very haunting
TBH i was sick of hearing Comfortably Numb in concert, usually the last encore, but this opening (like many others have said) was just out of this world, so loud, so clear, so poignant, i saw the show in Nashville, i could have gone home happy after that first song
For sure. I’m still going back & re-watching it. I went & saw The Who a month later & just couldn’t get as emotionally entwined. Definitely the best concert I’ve ever been to. 🕊
Music is a form of expression. The expression of emotions, ideas, opinions and sensibilities of the creator in sound and melody. Sincere expression of emotion is internally for the benefit ond agenda of the creator.......NOT FOR THE LISTENER. It may be directed towards a targeted audience but it is something the creator wishes to get off of his chest or out of his mind.....even if it's just simply musical notes and tone. If the attention of listeners is captured then that's the bonus ....... shared appreciation or a response either positive or negative is success, if that's the intention, to the artist or creator. A separation of politics from music is usually an opinion shared by people who are not artists and offended by what the artisan has created. Politics, religion.. whatever is fair game to the artist. Always has been....Always will be. The subject matter is an expression of the individual. Could you imagine the Vietnam War Era without songs like Chicago, Ohio by CSN & Y. Or Volunteers and Mexico by Jefferson Airplane. What about the absence of Southern Man by Neil Young. We would never had had the response by Lynard Skynard in Sweet Home Alabama. Imagine John Lennon never writing Imagine. The songs weren't written to guarantee the approval of the listener. They were written to express the emotions of the artist.
@@charlierobertson7784 RW must remember which versions of these songs made him a multimillionaire, and what fans paid big bucks to hear. These timeless classics were at sometimes unrecognizable.
Good to see positive comments. There has been too much negativity from the air guitar w⚓s. I've played, witnessed live and adored this track for years. So nice to hear it done differently.
A mi viejo se lo llevó el COVID... Y siempre le voy a dar gracias x hacerme escuchar pink Floyd .. Desde el cielo... Escucha este tema pa... A mí me hizo llorar estrañandote... Te quiero pa.. Gracias Roger
Great show. If it made you uncomfortable in parts, it was supposed to. Great art can sometimes make you feel uncomfortable. Roger Waters is one of rock's geniuses.
