Nahh, I've been playing 40+ years. I don't look at myself negatively because of Taj's great talent at a young age. I love the fact that he's way better than I was at his age. And, more importantly, he's doing his part to keep guitar alive and well in this day and age of auto-tune and garbage music being written by some guy in Sweden.
Axess2084 ~Right on. I'm sure you understand I was just kidding. A mildly self-deprecating way of pointing out his awesomeness. Though I'm not actually a guitar player, I followed a similar path, starting private lessons on alto sax at 8 years old, being declared "a natural" and running through all the various school music ensembles. This culminated as 25+ years in the biz doing everything from theater pits and cruise ships to writing soundtracks and session work. Weary of the road and seeing a dwindling market, and a musical economy that resulted in the same $100-$150 per man per night, today, that was great money in 1975, and not so much now, I followed a second path in the early 90's and successfully transitioned into commercial advertising photography. Still a difficult hustle, but more conducive to raising the two daughters I had with wife number two. Both now raised, one just out of college, the other in her second year, I'll be 65 this summer. I certainly didn't get rich, will likely never fully "retire", though I can't really see why I would if I could - I'd probably quickly die of boredom. Howz that great Tom Petty line go? "I don't know, but I've been told / Ya never slow down, ya never grow old." I'm thankful my teacher-wife has retirement, so I am admittedly "subsidized". ;-) PS I couldn't agree more on the current sorry state of popular "music" - not that there isn't still great music being made. I do love today's production possibilities, though not so much when over-used. As far as the art of guitar goes, I'm definitely a closet connoisseur. I'm almost the same age. I started when I was 8, but I had small hands so I quit. I regret it, and I started learning one month ago. Gave it a second try, and I love it! I'm barely learning solos but if I learned 2 years ago I could've been way better

@@adencain8298 Yeh, that is what makes this solo performance so impressive. This kid is putting so much of himself into the performance and for someone so young there is an insane level of feeling and depth there. He hasn't been playing for that long either but has obviously worked damn hard to learn techniques and music theory to be able to express himself effortlessly. I have seen kids play technically very well many times but there is way more going on here.
I'll be 61 tomorrow. I totally relate to what you all are saying. I'm going to keep up on Taj's progress, too. I never tire of listening to him. His playing/music transcends me to a higher place.

Archie Macfarlane He’s not recreating Lil Pump, he has dreadlocks. Probably millions of people around the world have dreadlocks I highly doubt it’s to look like Lil Pump or anyone.
@Archie Macfarlane ... yeah, exactly like Burnt Spoon said, there are millions of people with dreadlocks, including Taj's mom and dad, so it's more likely that he drew the inspiration for the dreadlocks from his own parents :)

When you have played enough music, playing with closed eyes is not a big deal, I can swear it. You just perfectly knows your instruments. Yet the performance in itself is still amazing, BRAVO !!
This isn’t jaw-dropping just from a technical standpoint, that kid puts feeling into the solo, and I think that’s what actually makes the music. Please keep up this amazing stuff!

This person was trying to say that it's not very impressive from a technical standpoint. Because it wasn't. The only thing technically impressive about this is that he's 9 years old.

I've never met a 9 year old that is that disciplined much less has that much soul. it's the dreads man. I kno personally that the dreads have direct connection to the soul n spirit.🤘🤘✌

I was a teen when pink Floyd came out with this. It is the Only thing on Earth that gives me every possible human emotion all at one time. And I'm telling you Taj, you nailed it. When I say you took my breath away, I freaking mean.., that literally. I nearly couldn't breathe. I first got goose bumps with chills , they rushed from my feet to my face. Chills Growing stronger I just put my head back and listened and felt everything, doom, anguish, yearning , hope,passion,fear, life.(that's the point when I was loosing my breath,lol) Just so many that were in direct contrast to the next . This is the coolest thing I have ever seen. I have a 10 year old, I play guitar (pretty well) and neither I, nor my kids could play this blindfolded. This is SO gangster. This young man was born to do this. When a musician feels every nuance deep within his spirit, it shows and with this skilled kid, it’s SHOWS. I’ve been a musician for 46 years and have played guitar for about 36 and I still can’t rock that lead the way he does. And then there’s his character. Stellar. Bravissimo, young man. You’re going to make a mark in this world.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, a 9 year old, unburdened by adult life, has more feel than 90% of youtube numb solo'ers. Good work young sir, keep it up if you keep loving it.

I have been a Pink Floyd sycophant ever since I heard 'Arnold Lang' when I was 7 years old (the song had been out a few years already, BTW). David Gilmour has always represented one of the greatest guitarist ever. They were a big part of why I went into the music profession all these years ago. To see a 9 year old play that song... to see him put the emotion into it that it deserves. I wept a bit. Not just for a young talent and the joy he brings, but for the fact that now I think there may be a little bit of hope for the human race after all. Keep it up kid...
Just discovered this kid. He is opening for Buddy Guy's farewell tour so in August the 15 yr old and the 88 yr old! Hats off to Buddy and his excellent band whom I've seen many times to give Taj exposure.
Please Taj's parents : take steps to protect your son's hearing. It's not talked about often, but many professional musicians suffer significant hearing loss due to the career- long loudness of their own instruments and other musicians on stage or in the recording studio with them. Taj needs you to look out for him now. Make sure he still gets some childhood in while he starts what is hopefully a long and fruitful career.

Your tip is in order. Ear plugs out to do it. Lots isn't mentioned, because most ppl under 40 think they'll live forever. Then at 5 mins to midnight, all are up in arms, like with the roar about climate change, Lots of clamour to do something about all the pollution and degradation of our planet / environment. People!
I could go on and on re attention to risks, creating and maintaining balance. Wisdom follows pain, they say. Parasites are attracted to magnets, metals and electrical current. All auto immune diseases are caused by parasites. There are many. Some feed off our hormones and influence our thoughts/mood. Balanced diet and lifestyle.are important guards as are detox strategies. The air and water quality are as important as the walls that surround us. Parasites love darkness and dampness, yet some larvae requires daylight exposure. How much quality of life one can enjoy after age 50 is partly determined by choices made in the first couple of decades of one's life.

A growing emphasis on everyone's freedoms, little discipline and self restraint. No shortage of different sets of values; just no cohesion. C21st begins a stocktake of values, sorting through what is essential, non essential and what can be kept for fun, just for a laugh, hahaha.
most soloist dont look if you need to look then you are impeding your flow and feel and soul ....so when peopel say guitar blind folded its like saying im talking with my eyes closed....lol not a big deal.

@@macmuggo5459 No, he's a prodigy. A 9 year old cannot develop enough muscle memory to do this. People who are THIS good at such a young age can visualize music in a way that nobody else can.
Anybody can learn a song for a weak and play it without looking the only thing that makes it “impressive” is that he’s 9 but there’s no difference in his mind learning guitar than anyone else, people act like any young child who learned early is a prodigy, it’s so dumb you might aswell send his ass to play flight of the bumble bee on America’s got talent

Ive been learning for almost a year and i can play some easy solos and i can use barre chords in songs and thats it. It takes quite a bit. I taught myself how to play though so maybe if you have the right teacher you can learn faster.
