I am by no means talking down to you, criticizing, or anything like that. This community looks out for one another though. That being said.... Duuuuude youre gonna get a secondary bevel sharpening like that unless you re an extremely skilled sharpener (the apprenticeship for a togishi [sharpener/polisher] is twice as long as it takes to be a smith) i would recommend a 1"X30" belt sander and painters tape. That way you can keep a proper convex edge while keeping as much niku intact as possible. Plus, you can go from butter knife to a laser beam in 15 minutes. I resoect your abilitybto sharpen with stines though. I am terrible with them. Well done even if there is a secondary bevel.
No you're fine my friend. Honestly that's only the second time iv ever used a whetstone so please don't worry about it. I just needed SOMETHING to fix the edge of that sword and I found that old stone randomly in my house and was so excited I just had to go for it. I plan to try to get better sharpening with the stone. But I'll definitely keep that in mind. For now the stone is my only means for maintaining my blades.
