Sin Eater is a Spider-Man villain. He was a police officer who was suffering from psychological issues and ended up murdering the police captain Jean DeWolff who was an ally of Spider-Man. The story of her death is one of the darker Spider-Man stories.

I can not recommend the Donny Cates' Venom run enough. Its an absolute achievement in understanding Eddie's character and his arcs (and arguably the Symbiote's too) throughout the years since his introduction; it even puts his character regressions into a different light too.

If you want to read this modern Venom, it's in the Venomnibus by Donny Cates. Collects the whole series and the major events "Absolute Carnage" and "King in Black." Both provide fantastic lore on the Symbiotes and introduces their creator Knull. He had a small cameo in Spider-man 2 PS5.

Sin eater is a villain who killed one of spider-man’s cop friends Jean Dewolff. It was pretty dark and it’s a pretty well known story in the spider-man comic lore

Sin Eater was the antagonist of the "Death of Jean DeWolff" story. A crossover between Spider-man and Daredevil about a serial killer in a ski mask killing people with a shotgun. Eddie reported that he found out the killer but reported a copycat by mistake while Spider-man discovered the true killer and ruined Eddie's reputation by proxy.

Toxin is the spawn of Carnage and was originally bonded to Patrick Mulligan, a police detective that Carnage was going to kill. Pat got his own miniseries as Toxin, but he wasn’t popular so Marvel had him killed offscreen by a Ghost Rider villain.

Believe me, if your only exposure to Venom is the movies or games, then you really don't know much about Venom because they have not adapted him well at all. Eddie Brock was never in the Daily Bugle and hadn't met Peter Parker before he was Venom, and he had just heard of him. Also in the comics it important to note that the symbiote (who is just called the symbiote and not Venom because Venom is the combination of Eddie Brock and the symbiote) was not evil or malevolent in any way and the only reason Peter got rid of it in the comics was because he found out it was alive and not just an advanced suit and because the symbiote had taken control of Peter's body on multiple occasions while he was asleep to fight crime because it thought it was helping Peter. It was never evil.

But it turns out he was wrong because his informant was actually a mental patient which wasn't Eddie's fault. Eddie turned his life around and rather than succumbing to his trauma and continuing to lie for personal gain he tells the truth in the hopes of helping people and to put away a dangerous serial killer. Only for circumstances to screw him despite his good intentions.

Actually, the Red Goblin is just Norman Osborn with the Carnage symbiote. He does briefly infect Harry Osborns son with the symbiote, yes, but the Red Goblin is Norman.

To add to the sineater comments, that image you saw of him was when he returned a few years ago. Originslly he was just a human with a shotgun. Hes somehow brought back from hell and now his shotgun removes the sins from others somehow. For exapmle for a few years norman osborn of all people was getting a redemption arc as his sins and negative traits were removed. It is also canon that sin eater, as a boy witnessed and an actual sin eating (basicalky a custom where you lay food out over a corpse and a person comes and eats the fruit. The fruit symbolizes the dead persons sins and the eating is the eater taking the sins into themself. Its a cleasning for heavan thing. Yes this is a real thing).The centipede thing was a pet of the villain who freed him, kindred.

It really is a great analysis about Venom and the problems that modern adaptations of the characters have had, including every single live-action adaptation of the character which has not done justice to Venom as a character.

Everyone did a good job describing Sin Eater, but a more recent thing that happened was that he went after a bunch of Marvel villains and killed them. If I recall every time he kills them and takes their sins he gets stronger. To the point he got super tall and strong sort of like Juggernaut from X-Men. I think he was lured somewhere to fight Spider-Man and Green Goblin. They had to collapse the building to stop him because he was so powerful. I think he’s the reason Norman hasn’t been green goblin for a little while

Something about Vemon/Eddie is he's incredibly goofy in the comics alot of the time. One time singing Rythem of The Night while swinging around with Spidey just to annoy him.

One thing they don't really touch on here is that it wasn't just Eddie that went through so much character development but Venom itself. While separated from Eddie it got passed around to some pretty shitty people like Mac Gargan and its already fragile mental state only got worse and it really just accepted being this monstrous entity. This all changes when Venom bonds with Flash and they become the hero Agent Venom. While they start off on pretty rocky footing, Flash and Venom become true partners and have an actual healthy relationship and his influence helps put Venom's mind in a better position so that when he does rejoin with Eddie they actually can do it in a (relatively) healthy manner. The Venom Symbiote explains it best in one of my favorite comic monologues: "Been to many worlds, but none of them this strange. Understood feelings before, but simple feelings - like colors, bold and bright. Happy. Sad. Angry. Then... met Spider-Man. Feelings got complicated. Learned guilt. Also the first time I felt fear. Felt agony. Learned feeling: Betrayal. Learned first words they called me. Monster. Parasite. Bad. Feels good to be a hero. Did bad things, too. Can't deny. Mac Gargan was bad. Thoughts like poison stingers. It was a thrill to kill. Knew it was bad. Didn't care. Gargan made it easy. Got to punish Gargan for what he did. He was evil and afraid. Lee Price was not afraid. I recommend Comicstorian for a lot of comic stories but specifically to see Agent Venom. He has done several Agent Venom stories and did a big super compilation of the stories into 1 video. It might be too long so at the very least I recommend seeing his origin story. Personally he’s my favorite version of Venom

I have no idea if you'd be interested in it, but my God dude the Marvel Secret Wars(2015) story is a work of art. Really shows Dr. Doom at some of his best, and is probably my favorite comic of the past 10 years. If you feel like checking it out, Comics Explained has a great video going over the whole thing.

As always this was a good video! How’s toy venom as a whole hasn’t been fully adapted to the big screen, we’ve only seen glimpses of him scattered in his past iterations.

I don't know if this is too late but as a Venom fan and reader of their comics I'd thought I give some clarifications and my thoughts as while Alex did a mostly good job with the video, there is some stuff he did get wrong. First thing I want to clarify due to the movie also popularizing this misconception is Eddie as Venom eating people, which has never been the case. Instead he would substitute chocolate for brains to keep the Venom symbiote satisfied. Now Eddie has eaten people but I want to get to that later when I talk about Toxin. The segment where he talks about leaving Eddie leaving his future wife to some muggers and lieing to get into his dream job come from a non canon comic by Zeb Wells called Dark Origin. It was created to cash in and make Eddie seem more like his counterpart from Spider-Man 3. Not only did it contradict with established canon at the time, which outright showed Eddie as a skilled journalist obsessed with the truth (like the Kroba incident) but Eddie's original backstory given in Lethal Protector to Peter was not given by Eddie himself but by the family maid penned by Venom's creator David. What is a bit odd is the run with Dylan outright used its two first arcs to firmly reestablish the Lethal Protector origin, so I'm not sure why DO is being used here. As what was Eddie's orginal back story basically Eddie tried everything to please his father but despite his straight As or excelling in sports to the point of getting multiple gold medals and trophies his father emotionally abused and neglected him due to blaming him for his wife's death. The only bright spot was his wife and his job at the Daily Globe but after the Sin Eater incident he lost both leading him to his downward sprial where he started he hating Spider-Man and wanted to kill himself. As for the Sin Eater it was revealed in Carnage Axis that Eddie had the right guy all along when he came back as a supervillain. Onto Toxin, Eddie somehow got a inkling of what Knull originally created them for and freaked out and started a crusade against all symbiotes killing Hybrid and Scream to start out with. (not realizing that some symbiotes can be good thanks to the Planet of the Symbiotes arc long story) You know that panel where Eddie had that gun? Well when he tried to eliminate Flash!Venom with it while Flash was fighting a villain called the Crime Master, the Crime Master captured Eddie and then forcibly bonded him Toxin to induct him into his "Savage Six". Toxin due to a demon called Blackheart killing his previous host Patrick was twisted into evil and unlike the Venom symbiote went full parasite and puppeteered his body, to the point of even forcing him to commit cannibalism fully for the first time. However thanks to Flash applying tons of fire to weaken it Eddie was able to force the Toxin symbiote to work with him leading to the scene Alex's video where they fight again and then team up. Thourgh the adventure fighting Carnage Eddie realizes that while the Venom symbiote did have a part to play in corrupting him, so did he courrpt it in turn and that he needs to take responsibility which leads us to....

His illustrations and storytelling are beyond incredible, and his four original series, Multiverse Tales, Vigilants, Mythal Lethal, and Starseed Psyche, are even better, I can't recommend them in particular enough!

The simbyote bonded with him both physically and mentally, any anger he had got turned into a means for the suit to stay attached to Eddie, and at the time which got taken of by Peter and it’s prone to feel resentment. Cant believe he skipped over the agent venom run, not only is it the best venom story period, its the point in the story where the symbiote is redeemed, like i get that this video is focued on eddie but he's only half of venom. Plus eddies character development is pretty half-baked until he gets the symbiote back from Flash (hes still written as a villain most of the time and only occasionally as an antihero until recently), it feels like Flash did all the hard work of redeeming venom and then eddie just gets to step over his corpse and be a good guy, since then theyve done a good job of making Eddie's journey to a hero feel more natural but it just feels weird to only barely mention flash at all

I think this creator needs to add indoctrination and indoctrinated into his vocabulary, taught isn't accurate enough.

TO BE FAIR the symbiote needed a chemical found in human brains so Venom ate people. Only late did he switch to chocolate when he learned it had the same chemical. Also i hope the Fantastic Four video your planning to react to is B- Mask's cause it's absolutely legendary and has some insane production quality for a retrospective.
