Solid AP rounds were already similar in performance to APHE ones so having an already thin ‘hollow’ dart with like 5g TNT won’t change anything for the good but rather makes the dart more brittle and way less effective at penetrating, especially when fighting with ERA.
Ironically, a sorta APHEFSDS did exist, it was a 280mm round fitted onto one of the German railway guns; however this was never intended to penetrate armour, rather just increase the range of the gun. also there was a proposal for a similar sort of round for the German 37mm, but this was never made. But, for 280mm, it still would penetrate most armour no issues. I forgot the exact name but the german translation last I remembered is "arrow shell" EDIT: the name is the Peenemunde Arrow Shell.
What did exist is 3BM26 which is a Tandem APFSDS round. 2 different Tungsten cores, reducing the Tungsten used in total by 60% while retaining the same penetration as a full Tungsten rod
We had so many people saying gameplay would suffer if APHE was made historically accurate as it would give less 1 shot kills. Why aren't those same people demanding for APHEFSDS?
@@romanvarcolac2238 You are missing the point. APHE as it is currently in game does not exist either. APHEFDS is of course a joke, but if game would go for "History? Just give shotting rounds." in mind, then why not have APFSDS which acts like depicted in the video?
I'm not demanding for aphefsds, i'm demanding for a rework of the kill conditions, it's r*tarded that u often have to hit tanks twice from the fkin side with nonexplosive rounds to get the kill...
now make APHEFSDSHEATHECBC (Armor Piercing High Explosive Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot High Explosive Anti Tank High Explosive Capped Ballistic Capped) rounds
If I had to guess on how to make this shell closer to an actual APHE round, the fuse would need a delay of 0.3333-recurring and a min armour threshold to fuse it, say about 30mm. Oh, and reduced armour pen and reduced filler (or not, still funny either way 😆) Maybe that would be an interesting experiment to try, truly realise the meme lol
If i was to design a round like this ill have the filler behind the penetrator somewhere in the middle so it can still explode inside the vehicle once the penetrator does its job
Ive always wondered what APHEFSDS could do.. Now i kinda want to see 152MM APFSDS (Obj 292) with like a FV4005 amount of filler (unarmored vehicles will get dented)
@@o-hogameplay185 not reeaaaalllly, I will do my best to explain this, but it’s basically like a sort of gimped hollow point They typically consist of a tungsten hollow cylinder, with a aluminium/plastic insert in the middle. When this impacts the armour, the internal insert causes the tungsten to mushroom out in a way so that when it perforates the armour, the cone of spalling is much wider than if it were a solid AP round. As I said, think of it almost like a armour piercing hollow point.
Can you make custom belts for aircraft guns? Might be interesting to show the effect of the worst rounds we have in the game. Like German 30mm Incendiary shells or other shells that are incredible badly implemented, so everyone tries to avoid using them.
Because the penetrator erodes into almost nothing when you hit anything with heavy armour. Same goes for full caliber APHE, it realistically wouldn't go off most of the time. The shell breaks apart or the fuse gets damaged when it goes through heavy armour at an angle. If you want to blow something up, you shoot it with HE or HEAT. If you're shooting at a tank, just putting a hole in it is enough.

@@burningsinner1132 Star Streak isn’t meant to penetrate armor plates. In fact it has hardly any armor penetration. Each dart carries like 450g of explosive.
@@kimjanek646 Yet it sports enough penetration to get through light armored vehicle. Also, it's enough to go by. If 900g dart can fit 450g of explosives, so can 4kg one. Let 3/4 of it be the conventional dart and fill tail section with funny.
I don't think you could pack 5 kilos of HE in there. More like 200 grams instead of tracer and up. And I think the fuze should be twice as long. Otherwise, this just demonstrates how broken overpressure mechanic is in this game
