May I ask Christians out there to pray for me and my fathers family. I’m going to be staying with them for a few months and they’re Mormons. This is my first time interacting with them since I started walking with Christ. We’ve had hard times in the past but I want so bad for them to see the love of the Lord in me. They’re very nice people but very lost. Please keep me in your prayers! Much love and gratitude!

If you get a chance stick to the meat. Who is Jesus? Lucifer’s brother or the eternal son of God? What is the Gospel? Death burial and Resurrection of Jesus is how we’re Saved by grace thru faith! Ephesians 2:8&9 2Nephi25:23 from Book of Mormon says that “we are saved by grace AFTER ALL THAT WE CAN DO”. once you have now established they have a different Gospel & a different Jesus, take them to Galatians 1 and show them how we’re not supposed to add ANYTHING to the Gospel. “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭11:14‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Joseph Smith was appeared to by an ANGEL OF LIGHT, angel Maroni, that gave him a different Gospel. Praying for you!

If I were Satan and I wanted to place a gigantic stumbling block to the expansion of the Gospel I could not come up with a better system than Dispensationalism. Thank God for men like Pastor Jeff, Dr. Kenneth Gentry, Doug Wilson, Hank Hanegraff, just to name a few. It's too bad that great preachers like John Macarthur, David Jeremiah, and Greg Laurie subscribe to Premillennial Dispensationalism.

It’s so funny reading all the comments from angry people. They dismiss all the beauty of all the correlations Jeff made between the Old Testament and the New Testament as well as all the Old Testament prophecies Jesus fulfilled. It was so beautiful! Praise God!!! I was raised as a pre-tribber but never understood it or accepted it. I’m so glad to have the opportunity now to learn all the other interpretations of eschatology. All I know is that in the end... it will all pan out! Praise God!

The funny thing is if you read the bible you don't need all these newer theologies, Darby chopped up the word and created his own interpretation, Premillennial has been from the beginning without dispensational and pretrib thought, Post millennial has also come about in 1650 and turns the gospel on its head Partial preterism is gross error easily refuted

@@victorcritelli5790 May I humbly suggest that you not base your understanding on English translations alone. We all hold presuppositions as we approach eschatology and the larger context must be always in view. Do you read the Scriptures with awareness of the literary genre? Do you have an optimistic Gospel? Is Christ's death and resurrection sufficient to save or will God need to bring further judgement? Will the Church ultimately be defeated by the world, requiring her escape? Do we give necessary weight to the OT allusions of judgement and redemption when reading the NT? Hermeneutics is serious business and requires both art and science.

In addition to going away from the clear understanding Many who are in this camp will lean heavily on the deep study of poetry or other forms of writing their education and how smart they are, In addition, much of what they say is the same reasoning as the catholic church uses I find this curious too Because the word say this many times in many ways about this 26 For [a]you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many [b]noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the [c]base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,

@Curtis Hazen What is yours then, and we will see. That is, pre-, post, or amillenialism? That is the subject I was speaking of, which I'm not sure is actually taken up by Jeff in this sermon. He takes a preterist view. Does he also take a premillienail view? They may not be the same thing. #-millenial refers to the 1000-year reign of Christ. When does it begin? Is it in the Now or the future? Which position do you hold? I do not know which position Jeff holds as I've never heard him say. I have heard James White say on one of his radio shows (Apologia or RFG, not sure) that he is an amillennialist. One could be amillennialist and preterist if the belief if that the Olivet Discours has already occurred and we are now in the church age, and the 1000 year reign of Christ is figurative. I think, unless I'm mistaken, one could also hold a preterist position and premillennial or postmillenial position. Please feel free to delve into the issue and get back before comments are closed. But with evidence, not flippant answers. Im interested to hear the argument for "100% locked" since for 2000 years a lock has evaded all the giants of the faith.

I agree most of the Olivet Discourse is about the destruction of Jerusalem in the first century... however, I also see parts of this referring also to the time when Christ physically returns to raise the dead, judge the world in righteousness, and usher in the eternal state. That, and there are many times that the Bible uses a prophecy to point to one thing close in time to the time the prophet is speaking, but also at the same time referring to another event - often Christs' first or second coming - in the same breath. We see this frequently in prophecies the NT says are fulfilled in Christ's first coming, and yet were also fulfilled in an event much earlier in time. While I agree that dispensationalism and many forms of challism, or premillenialism, can be misleading - the other extreme, where one reacts to it - can be misleading as well. Jesus IS coming back: today, tomorrow, 2000 years from now, we don't know when, and he will physically and will defeat death.

@@markdoherty754 He mentioned it briefly in the video, 1 Corinthians 15. This chapter talks about the resurrection. It says Christ must reign until all of His enemies have been made a footstool. Death is the final enemy, which is conquered by the resurrection. So, the question you're probably asking is, when or how does his reign conclude? Will the world enter some type of "golden age" where all the nations of the earth become Theocratic Christian? Post-millenialists, like Jeff, believe so. I'm not so sure; although the only scriptural objection I have is more of a big picture symbolic one, rather than any specific passage. This progression to a "golden age" is just not what I see happening through the last 2000 years of history. What I see is a repeating cycle of nations rising and falling, from which God preserves a remnant faithful to himself. The patterns described in the Biblical prophecies seem to emerge again and again. The beasts (empires), the whore of Babylon (the unfaithful), the anti-Christ; they've all come and gone many times. My logical conclusion is the cycle will repeat until it happens on a global level, rather than national. I hold more to an A-millenial view. The only thing Posties and A-Mils really disagree on is the condition of the world when Christ returns. Regardless, when He does, that's a wrap; resurrection, new heaven, new earth and an eternity face to face with Him.

The only way the premill position can be proven is if you change the nature of how context works. You have to redefine the methodology of how to properly read contextually as well as redefining words such as “age”, “generation”, “this”, “you”, ect. It takes a great deal of textual gymnastics to arrive there.

I have been following Jeff Durbin and his street encounters and now have been marvelled to hear him preaching over Matthew 24 over the series of videos. Because of his love and respect for the work of God i would love you to pass on this message to him so that he might step further into his knowledge regarding the spiritual misconceptions. 1. Satan - The word Satan (Hebrew: יֵצֶר הַרַע‎ yēṣer haraʿ) as it states in Wikipedia is the inclination of mans’ heart desire to do evil things in opposition to the will of God. I will point out three bible clear illustrations. Job - In the book of Job, his friends went before God and driven by jealousy asked God to put Job in test to then deny God. Proof of this is found at the of the book when God decides to punish the three friends and not "satan". If it was the religious “satan", why would God want to punish Job’s friends? It is clear that they were jealous in opposition to God’s blessing upon Job’s life. Apostle Peter - In Matthew 16:23, Jesus rebukes the apostle Peter for trying to oppose (satan) the will/work of God on the cross. Clearly Peter could not have been possessed by a supposed spiritual entity (so called Satan) and then later on being given the keys to the Kingdom of heaven. Jesus makes it very clear as well when He says "for you mind not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.”, meaning that Peter did not comprehend the plans of God as he tries to oppose Jesus’ crucifixion. Jesus’ temptation - Here is another very easy and clear passage where Jesus is being tempted by his fleshly desires, like we are tempted and fail but he instead subdued his flesh and being God did not use his power to satisfy his body. Had Jesus (being God) had turned the stones in bread and had failed in any of the other temptations his body presented to him, he would not have been fully man and therefore would not have been righteous on the cross to remove our sins. Paul in the book of Romans 7 and 8 explains clearer then water what Jesus was going through and we all humans go through and fail in life, that is the fight of our flesh against the spirit of God that lives within us. 2. Hell (in its 3 variations)- Sheol (/ˈʃiːoʊl/ SHEE-ohl, /-əl/; Hebrew: שְׁאוֹל‎ Šəʾōl) in Hebrew only means the “place of darkness” where the dead go, throughout the bible this word is used to describe grave and nothing else. Then the word is translated into Greek Hades (/ˈheɪdiːz/; Greek: ᾍδης Hádēs; Ἅιδης Háidēs) which has the same conotation of being a place where the dead go/rest. Now the work Gehenna (/ɡɪˈhɛnə/, /ɡəˈhɛnə/[1]) or Gehinnom (literally translated as "Valley of Hinnom”) was a place at the outskirts of Jerusalem where the Kings would make their sacrifices killing their children (Jeremiah 7:31) and later their enemies of war. There is no hell such as religion created, being the phisical place where the sinner would go to, we only need to understand which of the three words are being used on the text and apply its meaning to the text. In the book of revelation where it says about the “Lake of Fire” read and understand that the words lake of fire is another figure of speech and not a literal place and it simply means what the text says: The second death (Revelation 20:14 "the spiritual death") the one that Jesus conquered on the cross of which has no power of God’s people the church, the bride, the new Jerusalem, etc. The sinners and the non-believers will be going to eternal shame which is also the lake of fire, our spirits will return to God and their spirits will die and will not dwell in the presence of God. The 20 centure idea of hell is the creation of religion to slave peaple into their doctrines creating fear and captivity, which is “satan” the opposite desire of God for our lives. I would love to have an open conversation with brother Jeff Durbin. Above anything else, I would like to say that I appreciate the work God is doing though Jeff bringing understanding of the word of God and freeing God’s people from religion.

God speaks with Satan in Job. Christ speaks to Satan in the wilderness. Satan is an actual being.
@edujesus3866
@edujesus3866 3 года назад
@@robertknight3354 my brother. God did not speak to an actual spirit being. Read Job 1:6 you will see that the sons of God presented before him. You must understand that the Jewish people from that time did not believe in "satan" as you do. Look at the bible and you'll see that God made things happen according to his will and not an evil spiritual being as religion preaches. The bible does not make any reference to satan as a being, instead it makes it very clear that "satan" is everything that opposes God will. Jesus speaks to his flesh, like you and I often do when we find ourselves questioning whether we should or should not do something. When you are hungry and go to a supermarket you go talking to yourself thinking: "what should I get". Or when you did something you know you shouldnt have, then you say: "i shouldnt have done that". Jesus like us was tempted by his flesh but did what we cannot do, subdued it. "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15" I know it's not easy to have lived most of our lives with the conception given by religion about a word (satan) and now facing a different reality. Brother examine the word God and he might open your eyes to see the truth I speak. The religious satan is a man-made creature to cause people to fear and run into their temples. Bless you brother.

In order to accept Jeff's interpretation of this Scripture, you also have to believe that Revelation was written before the destruction of the second temple. Going against every mainstream scholar who clearly states that Revelation was written sometime between 90-95 AD. John clearly writes in Revelation 14 about Jesus coming on the clouds with angels to gather believers. John is writing as if it's a future event that has not happened, if he is writing anytime after 70 AD there is no way the preterist view holds up.....

Jesus is specifically talking to the 1st Century and the connotations of the scriptures imply that Matthew is consistent with his understanding and translation. @J.F.331 3 года назад
Jeff is a Partial Preterist, meaning he believes most of the end times prophecies were fulfilled in the 1st century, specifically at the time of the destruction of Jerusalem and her temple in AD 70. This is a legitimate claim because “end times” doesn’t explicitly mean end of human history but in context is referring to the end of the age, specifically the end of the Old Covenant and the Jewish Economy. Jeff also believes in Postmillennialism (as opposed to to the popular view today which is Dispensational Premillennialism). This view teaches that through history the Gospel will succeed in every facet of life, or in other words is an eschatology of victory and Christ reigns supreme and is the victor over the nations of the world by the succession of the Great Commission. In the Postmill and Partial Preterist view of eschatology, there is no future of doom and gloom (although this can occur in some nations for a time, but not permanently) but seeing the world as a whole in the span of time being discipled and under the authority of Christ and His Gospel. I too adhere to this position.

The prophecy of Jesus coming in the clouds in Matthew 24 is either a literal meaning or symbolic. Many people are looking up expecting to see 2nd coming Jesus to come from the sky on a cloud (or in a cloud or behind the cloud) not sure. But if it has a parabolic meaning, then those thinking it's a literal cloud will miss His 2nd coming. And vice versa would obviously be true too. Well we can understand which it is by looking at a prophecy in Daniel 7 about the 1st coming of Jesus. In Daniel 7:13-14, Daniel saw the son of man coming on the clouds of heaven. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power [kingdom]. Then who is it that came 2000 years ago and was given these 3 things? Yes, it was Jesus. He said he was given authority (Matthew 28:18-20). He was given glory (John 17:10, 22, 24). And He was given a kingdom (Luke 22:29-30). So we can see that Jesus fulfilled the prophecy in Daniel 7:13-14. But the prophecy given to Daniel as a vision, saw him coming with the clouds of heaven. Then, did Jesus fulfill this by coming down in a LITERAL cloud in the sky? Of course not. He came from heaven IN THE FLESH. No wonder the Jews found it hard to believe that Jesus was the one who was to come. Even now, they are still waiting for his 1st coming looking up at the sky. Then what should we understand when Jesus told his disciples that his 2nd coming will be in the same way? Yes, he is to come born in the flesh again. He will restore the truth in the last days. The dark ages and the reign of the little horn [Roman Papacy] has passed. Now the 2nd coming Christ has come when the Fig Tree [Israel] came back to life in 1948 as prophesied in Matthew 24:32-35 and Jeremiah 30:1-9. All peoples are coming out of Babylon [ALL the false apostate churches of today] and are streaming to Mount Zion as prophesied in Micah 4:1-2 to learn the ways of the Lord. That's why in Revelation 12:17 and revelation 14:12 describe the saints as those who obey God's commandments. The truth of the new covenant has been restored by the 2nd coming Christ in these last days. We are given life giving water [rain] from the true one who came in a cloud. Praise God.

The most basic thing that I like about the Amillenial teaching though is that it is empowering ,and like Jeff said, makes us think about the future in a different way. "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.
@NNaadah
@NNaadah 3 года назад
To answer your question; let's start here. Very few people people understand when "the great tribulation" actually was. It started the Friday before the crucifixion and ended the night of passover when Jesus was confronted with the angel of death. (Remember Exodus - angel of death kills the first born. I.E. "first born" from the dead; son of God was the sacrifice.) Jesus says the tribulation is "cut short" or no flesh would be saved. When was "flesh saved"? That had to do with the atonement. "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun is darkened and the moon does not give her light". What happened on the day of the crucifixion? (The sun was darkened.) So the "tribulation" had to have occurred right before the crucifixion. Note the book of Daniel says the "great tribulation" is a week long. So.... what happens when Jesus dies? He said to the thief. "Today you will be with me in paradise." As soon as Jesus died; where did his soul and human spirit go? (The answer to that is in the book of Revelation - I.E. the "lamb as were slain" opens the scroll. Who's with the lamb (who suddenly appear in heaven)? A "great multitude that no man can number." What does the passage say about them? They "came out of great tribulation". So who is "Jerusalem" and "all the peoples of the earth" who see Christ "coming in the clouds of glory". (I'll give you a hint. In that passage; He's not "coming to earth"; He's "coming in the clouds of heaven". (He's going to the Father.) So who are "the tribes of the earth" who all see this happen? (They also see a vast multitude ascend to heaven.) These are all those in sheol who've just witnessed the redeemed ascend to heaven. Remember there was an earthquake at the crucifixion and "the graves were opened" and "many bodies" ..." walked around in the Holy City". (Hint - that's the New Jerusalem in heaven.) Now in Matthew 24; Jesus does talk about the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD; but He ALSO talks about the end of the cosmos. "Heaven and earth will pass away; (heaven and earth have not passed away yet) but my words will not". But of that hour (meaning the hour heaven and earth pass away); knows no man, .... but the Father only." Now look at the prophecy in Joel. It's not "the sun is darkened and the moon does not give its light". It's "the sun is turned black as sackcloth of hair and the moon blood read". The "sun darkened and moon gives no light" is the crucifixion. The "sun black as sackcloth of hair and moon blood red" is Judgement Day. The judgement that took place for the sake of the elect, was a foreshadow of the final judgement. When you understand the nature of the atonement; you'll understand that the language concerning tribulation, darkening sun etc; is not talking about the destruction of Jerusalem; it's talking about the atonement. The people weeping (over the Son) is what's happening in the spiritual realm at the point Christ dies. Those that are left behind in Sheol (which constitutes all the people who died before the cross) are the ones mourning. Also, those who die subsequently who find themselves in hades mourn too because they know they will face judgement; because believers "live and reign with Christ" upon their death. That's one major point the post millennialists miss. (The pre-mills miss it on the other side of the coin.) But there is the answer to your question.

Well there are some good points to back the preterist view, but trying to change the angels to messengers and saying that it’s christians is a real stretch? Not one bible translation translates it as messengers. And they have many educated scholars who actually know the greek language to help translate when making our modern bible versions. I’ve never heard one solid explanation of when Jesus actually sent out His ANGELS in a 70 AD coming? This explanation of this is a real stretch..So when the Angels told the disciples that Jesus was going to come back in the “same way”that they watched Him go, which was visibly in the clouds, did they mean what they said? He didn’t ascend spiritually..It was physically and they watched Him go physically and will return in the same way..So if you don’t buy into the messenger interpretation, which is a stretch of the text, then how else do you explain away the Angels gathering the elect. And when does the Actual resurrection take place? And is the no more DEATH and pain and sorrow figurative also if He came back spiritually already? I think if God wants us to take things literally He makes it very easy to understand. We try and complicate things instead of just trusting His promises that when He returns there actually will be a resurrection and no more death.. I think Paul is very clear here concerning the resurrection not only of Jesus, but of us he wasn’t a spiritual resurrection. It’s a physical resurrection like Jesus said, a spirit does not have flesh and bone like I do. Luke 24:39..we will have the same type of body when we are resurrected like Jesus has. 1 Corinthians 15:13-15 13. If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised.

I find it interesting that those who oppose Jeff on this issue issue do so on the basis of feelings and tradition, this could very well be the reason the church in America is in the state that it is in. Jeff is simply allowing scripture to interpret scripture, and allowing context to guide his exegesis, it seems that that has become unacceptable to those in the church today. It may be time for a second reformation in which we separate from the dispensational/amillennialism/ marcionism that is so prevalent in our day.
@CamJamROC
@CamJamROC 4 года назад
I think pastor James is amillennial from what I understand... that exhortation would be a bit inconsistent with Apologia’s standards for eldership, especially since there are many harmonies between postmill and amill (happy to be corrected if in error on that point). But otherwise, your exhortation is very well taken. This sermon edified me and clarified a lot of my own misunderstandings. The Word of God is self-attesting, and the teachings of Dispensationalism and Marcionism are indeed dangerous, critically so. Luke 24:44-47 ESV [44] Then he said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." [45] Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, [46] and said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, [47] and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

But there are a large number of people who disagree with Jeff for intellectual reasons, ones not born of feelings or traditions. I'm no expert on eschatology, but books like John MacArthur's "Because the Time is Near," and Robert Thomas's "Revelation: An Exegetical Commentary," as well as works from men like Richard L. Mayhue and Nathan Busenitz make any form of preterism seem a very suspect way of viewing the scriptures.
@CamJamROC
@CamJamROC 4 года назад
Well, I think Evangellyfish’s point, as well as the point of Apologia’s eldership on occasion, and other postmillennial or amillennial proponents, is that those very intellectual reasons you mentioned are rooted in deep-seated traditions, planted early on in their thinking about how to interpret the Bible, some from childhood in a surely Christian, albeit dispensational home, for example. John MacArthur, a formidable reformed thinker, has deep roots in dispensational thought, and that surely qualifies (if subconsciously, for lack of better term) his intellectual/exegetical endeavors. I’m unfamiliar with the other writers you mentioned, so I couldn’t comment on them. Evangellyfish’s broad statement “feelings and traditions” is just that, broad, in that not every proponent of a premillennial position holds to it because of pure, anti-intellectual feelings, or explicit traditions that they are blatantly seeking to defend against the exhortation of post/amills. Some have seen the light of reformed exegetical thinking, but still aren’t quite able to escape the deep-rooted exegetical traditions that had been engrained in their thinking during upbringing, and those are undoubtedly hard things to break from, until one can recognize their own traditions and examine them. Again, a difficult process for sure. As stated, I’m happy to be corrected on any points. I want to emulate the noble-mindedness of the Bereans as best I can here.

@@CamJamROC I agree that traditions exist, and the sad fact is that despite how neutral we all try to be, we all have them, at least to a degree. But in examining Thomas's work, I have never seen a more careful and thorough examination of the book of Revelation in Greek. Durbin is a very convincing speaker, and he is correct in so many ways, and I agree with him in so many areas, and I really appreciate the way that he looks at the scriptures in the contexts in which they were written, but whether it is tradition, or the intellectual nature of Thomas's work, I just don't buy the preterist approach. I'll copy again one of Thomas's retorts to a preterist in his day: In questioning Kenneth L. Gentry and his preterism, Dr. Robert L. Thomas, in an article entitled: "Theonomy and the Dating of Revelation," he asked: "How is it that the “cloud-coming” of A.D. 70 involves no personal coming of Christ (Matt 24:30; 26:64; Rev 1:7; 2:5, 16, 25; 3:3, 11, 20; 16:15; 22:7, 12, 20), but the “cloud-coming” at the end of history does (Acts 1:11; 1 Thess 4:13 ff.)? Where did Christ distinguish between two such comings, and where did He say that He would personally appear at one and not at the other? The answer to both questions is “nowhere.” This is of course just one example, but preterism (at least in all of my reading) creates more questions than it does answers.

@Lawrence Stanley That’s interesting. Thank you for the quote from Robert Thomas’s work. I’ll definitely look into his writings about this issue. I’m no expert on all the complex facets of eschatology either. There’s a lot more learning I can do from all the positions. I actually haven’t read it yet, but GK Beale of Westminster Seminary (Philly) has a commentary on Revelation, and he’s an amillennialist, or “inaugurated millennialist” as he prefers. From what I’ve read in his other works, he is deeply concerned with surveying alternative conceptions about the topics he addresses, and he carefully examines the writings of other thinkers that don’t share his position, with really helpful and thorough citations and notes. He may or may not handle Thomas’s conception in this way in his Revelation commentary. I would check him out as well, and his other works on eschatology if he has any. Really thorough and helpful reformed scholar. Again, thanks for the cordial conversation. Grace and peace!

Rev. Isn't something that can be taught. Most of it God has hidden it's meaning having no definitive interpretation to be accepted or understood by people. If I were to tell you the seven churches, which each have a "trial" to overcome, is talking about God establishing seven different types of "levels of spiritual knowledge" that people are born with and everyone who has ever lived belongs to one of those "churches" you would scoff. The body is the temple, church, synagogue of the holy spirit. The word church is being used that way. 'Let the spirit say to all the churches, those that overcome will not be hurt at sll by the "second" death'. The messages are being told to souls who have already experience the FIRST death, death of the body. Each church represents a level of spiritual understanding predetermined by God and your level depends on the church in Rev. you belong to. I'm not saying that the church makes someone better than someone else, just different. BTW, I'll assume you've never heard this before and I'll also assume you think I'm off my rocker. Lawrence Stanley, Cloud coming refers to the coming of the SON OF MAN to judge the nation of the Jews. Christ in very clear language that some of his disciples will not taste death until he comes and he said all the things (events) he predicted in the Olivet Discourse will happen before the passing of his contemporaries. In other words his coming (in judgment) will happen in the first century. In the OT when God comes on the cloud to render judgment it did not involve his personal coming but rather the coming of the powerful armies punishing the object of God's wrath, thus obeying the will of God even though they are not believers of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The personal coming of Christ in Acts 1:11 is not "cloud coming". It says just like his ascending to heaven where he was hidden by the cloud at one point of his ascension, he will come down from heaven and he will appear at one point of his descent from the clouds which hid his descent. Nowhere does it says he rides or stand on a cloud when he descend from heaven. According to Peter in Acts 3:21 Christ will remain heaven until the Restoration of all things that is, when death. the last enemy has been defeated and made a footstool of his feet. Thus, his personal coming will be at the end of time when the resurrection takes place. Acts 3:21 , “whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time.” 1 Cor. 15:25-26 “For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be abolished is death.” Whereas Christ "coming on clouds" (coming in judgment) in 70 AD does not involve the resurrection of the dead. That is the main difference between the two comings. In 70 AD Christ came in judgment involves the destruction of the Jewish nation through the action of the roman armies (the "People of the Prince" of Daniel 9:26) and the Abomination of Desolation. (The fearsome one who causes destruction).

@Dan Doris With all do respect you are the one adding your presuppositions to the text by alluding to the idea that the great tribulation will be the “worse” the Jews will ever endure. Yes, that’s true (sort of) but don’t forget about the overall context. Which Jews does Jesus have in mind? Rabbinic Jews 2,000 years later or Jews who were still under the Mosaic Covenant practicing the temple rituals and ceremonies while the temple was still standing? When Jesus makes this statement “a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will” there’s no mention at all of it being the “worse” (as you so clearly added) that the Jewish people will experience, that’s not even the point that Jesus is getting at. No Jesus is saying that the type of great tribulation that would occur will never happen again because the one that happened in the 1st century (AD 67-70) ended the Old Covenant and destroyed the temple and THAT will never happen again. Jesus when making that statement is making reference to Daniel 12:1 and Ezekiel 5:7-17.

In Matt 24, Jesus was asked what the signs would be of the destruction of the Temple, of his appearing, and of the end of the age. But Jesus did not constrain his answers to those questions. In fact, he talked about signs that would typify the entire church age, which they didn’t know about it, and signs that would precede the end of the church age, and the sign that will start the great tribulation. And Jesus talked about rewards in heaven, and he talked about the great white throne judgement. Also, Jesus didn't say that this generation would not pass away before all those things happen. The Greek grammar in the biblical manuscripts includes the Particle _an_ (which denotes the wishes of the speaker) with verbs in the Subjunctive mood (which denotes subjective possibility). In other words, Jesus actually said that he _wished_ that all these things _might_ happen in that generation, but all those things didn’t happen in that generation or even yet, which means they’re in the future.

The term in all the land or the inhabited Earth is repeated again in Mathew 24:14. The preaching” in all the inhabited Earth” truly was accomplished in Pauls day. Mathew 24:14 the answer is in the Bible. In some, but not all modern translations there is a miss translation of the Greek phrase oikoumené. (ee-ku-me-nee). This miss translation has sent many a religion down the wrong track. We must see it as the first century people saw it. Hence the words “all the inhabited earth”? in the Bible does not mean the “entire Earth” as we use it today. The context of the verse gives us the answer. The word for “all the inhabited Earth” in Greek is oikoumené. (ee-ku-me-nee) Strong’s Concordance explains its usage as “(properly: the land that is being inhabited, the land in a state of habitation), the inhabited world, that is, the Roman world, for all outside it was regarded as of no account.” HELPS Word-studies explains it this way: 3625 (oikouménē) literally means “the inhabited (land).” It was “originally used by the Greeks to denote the land inhabited by themselves, in contrast with barbarian countries; afterward, when the Greeks became subject to the Romans, ‘the entire Roman world;’ still later, for ‘the whole inhabited world’ “. So, given this information, we can accurately understand Jesus’ words and intention at Mathew 24:14 if we read it this way: and this good news of the kingdom will be preached throughout the known world (the Roman Empire) to all the Gentiles and then the end of Jerusalem will come.

That's the second coming, reflects with 1 Cor 15. This is where the physical resurrection is spoken about.

Even John Macarthur who is a dispensationalist knows that's the second coming and doesn't try to use it as pretrib rapture proof text.

@@bornagainministries3656 Correct. This is scripture to the Lords return. This was posted because of a few people who ended up deleting their comments that were arguing. They deleted once i posted this in their comments. I figured i would leave this scripture in the comments section.

The Book of Revelation is not in chronological order. The Second Coming is found in Revelation 6 with signs in the sun, moon, and stars, as are in the Olivet Discourse. Why are those at the end of the chapter hiding from the wrath of the Lamb unless the Lamb is present? Christ returns in Revelation 11:15-18 with the 7th trumpet, and the time of the judgment of the dead. See John 5:27-30 for Christ's description of the bodily resurrection, and judgment of all the dead. In 2 Timothy 4:1 Paul reveals that Christ judges both the living and the dead at His appearing. Christ returns in the "harvest" of chapter 14, which is related to the parable of the wheat and tares from Matthew chapter 13. Christ returns "as a thief" at Armageddon in Revelation 16:15-16. Christ returns in chapter 19. Christ returns when the fire comes, and with the judgment of the dead, at the end of Revelation chapter 20. Unless the Second temple is still standing, Christ was a partial-preterist in the Olivet Discourse. The first part of Luke 21:24 is about the events of 70 AD. At the end of the verse we find a reference to the times of the Gentiles. Based on Luke 21:25-28, the Second Coming of Christ occurs when the times of the Gentiles comes to fullness. Paul referred to this same time period in Romans 11:25. Paul also eludes to this time period in Acts 28:28. Luk 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. Luk 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Luk 21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Luk 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Luk 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. .

A lot of work put into your comment, but sorry still don’t get it. The verses quoted don’t seem to line up with your point.

@@lindanicholason878 Judge not or you will be judged in the same manner in which you judge others. Jeff IS NOT LYING. Lying by definition is knowing the truth but saying something else is true. Jeff believes he is telling the truth. God will not accuse him of lying so neither should you.
