Alex, it's really a shame that so many people who saw your video completely missed the point. I know how nice it is when one is complimented on appearance, but the coming out is what's important. We must all tell our stories of arrival, of of being, of our shared humanity. Kudos to you for doing this. You are a credit to your generation, and I hope you'll continue to be one. People in my generation have tried to open some doors for you guys; your job now is to pay it forward. This is one of the ways you do it.

Gay by birth proud by choice...

"Who doesn't love senior year??" Me, it was 1984, I was still closeted and I had just changed schools had no friends and was socially awkward. The conflict between the hormones and the sociological norms caused me great distress. This lasted until three years ago when I finally came out at the age of 48.

You were so fortunate and I'm very happy for you. It doesn't always turn out so well for some, there are far too many young people whose families have completely turned them away and never spoke to their kids again. So sad that some parents don't have unconditional love for their own children.

Be yourself. With your looks you should have not problems in life. Just respect yourself and do not let yourself be used. Again be yourself.

So, yeah Alexander is hot, but what really makes him attractive, I think, is his maturity and bravery. His attitude and big heart. The fact that he wants to give back and has the courage to put himself out there is what really make this young man so beautiful. Great Video. Natural, honest, real. I hope others feel inspired and encouraged to be who they are around those they love. As an older guy I can only marvel at the freedom, acceptance and support that exists for younger gay guys & gals. When I was your age it was against the law to be gay. Couples were separated and imprisoned in different jails on the suspicion of being gay. In one state the penalty for gay sex was a prison sentence of 20 years, the same for murder. We learned to keep our closet doors very closed. We survived, we got laws changed, we became more visible and vocal about equality. And now I can watch a young handsome guy begin his adult life feeling loved and supported and safe from the bad laws. Life has dealt you a good hand - I hope you play your cards with compassion for others less fortunate than yourself.

Well done! It takes a LOT of courage to even come out to close friends let alone to literally the world being you posted this on UTube. I'm a bit older then you, 51 and things were WAY different in the 80s being gay. It was almost like you had to be closeted or feared being beaten, dis-owned, alienated etc. Our struggles help pave the way for the younger generations like yourself, though the inner struggles and feelings remain the same for ALL of us Gay/LGBTQ people. WE often don't feel comfortable within our own skin and or are ashamed to be who we want to be or even afraid! BUT once we accept it, find out who we really are and become that person our life gets so much happier and brighter! :) Thanks for sharing your story with us! I can tell you one thing... pick your friends wisely and don't stress the haters because there will ALWAYS be people whom hate if you have something they don't. You have it all, kind and free spirit, pleasant demeanor, nice looks/build etc. Stay beautiful INSIDE as you are and you will always be a person whom others want to be around. Looks do fade, I was considered VG when I was young and was/am a kind person and even at 51 people still want to be around me. Its the INNER person that people will always see in the end! you're so right. Life is much better out of the closet! And it's not just something you only do once. you'll do it as you meet ppl, join clubs or gyms, at new jobs, as new family comes into the world etc... I'm so glad you have wonderful open minded parents and peers! My friends were all really cool with me when I came out in 10th grade, but my family took it really hard (very religious family) and now at 34, it's still an issue at times especially w my dad. it's always harder w dad's I think. But thank God for the progress we as the LGBT community are making! If I were in high school now, I bet I'd see even more acceptance, like it's more commonplace these days. ...Your 1st video, big success! It's always a great thing when coming out stories have a happy ending, you are a lovely example of why it's worth it to stick around for life after coming out. :) If it's not great and grand at first, push through because before you know it you'll have a happy ending too.

when I was a senior in 99-00 you didn't dare come out!! you would've got your ass kicked or killed. even not being out I was bullied almost everyday from 4th grade til I graduated. it's amazing how things have changed to where kids feel they can come out in high school now

it's interesting to watch how you young guys now go through the same thoughts and fears that I did 40 years ago. and then when you actually do it and it's over with it's like this big burden has been lifted and you get to start experiencing things without the shadow of guilt and shame and you wonder why the hell you waited so long. good luck man enjoy your life right on!

It was the apostle Paul who first said, "To thine own self be true." But when I came out, my mother said I was the lowest thing that God put on the earth! She later said that as a "Christian" woman, she should kill me in my sleep! Needless to say, I didn't sleep there for quite some time. YOU are a gorgeous young man! I'm so glad that your experiences have been so positive. Let no "Christians" enslave you and put you down for who you are because Jesus does not!

Hello Alexander. Nice story, too bad most people aren't like your folks? I couldn't help but laugh when you mom told certain family members before you got to them. I'm from Los Angeles and regardless of what people believe about large urban cities...there are still many of us who feel quite different from those around us. Gay guys here can be horrible to one another. I was raised in a very conservative family with strong Midwest values (family is originally from Kansas) along with being a fourth generation American of Mexican descent, and you get this recipe for pressure to conform. I never got to tell my folks, because they both passed away before their time. It's good you were able to let yours know. I feel it can only get better as we move forward, and others realize we are all the same. From one Alexander to another, be well and take care.

We're very fortunate these days. We could live in Russia, parts of Africa or the middle east where it's still next to impossible to be openly gay. We could easily fall backwards so be sure and get out and vote.

I had no hormonal cycles and it made me turn tender while dissolving any premature feelings of attraction I was feeling toward girls. I felt protected and cozy in a healthy way when I saw boys. I felt like a "way of being" came in and swooped me up in a cozy way that feels right but has me asking how can this be? Some advice -- grow thick skin by getting used to the word fag and queer like how others get used to the N word among friends or pure acquaintanceships. Do not take things to heart, and understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion regardless of if they agree or disagree with your condition of sexual appeal. Do not accept any theories revolving around how you are. Do not hate a religious group automatically because you think they are against you. If anything it is only a bad apple that happens to be in the group. Do not hate others for having felt like you were hated-- it makes you worse than the bullies who you may later claim bullied you for how you are. Do scientific observations, rely upon your experiences,and open up your eyes. It seems like there has been an influx of gayness and it is suspicious to me. Similar to the expansion of autism being so common now in the average household. I am 25 now, and I am not accepting the you are born this way philosophy. I am researching what makes people this way. I stopped going to church at 9 because I thought it was ignorant regarding the topic, but then I see all the things going around and that seem so evil on the media mixing the homosexual condition along with it. It seems orchestrated. Souls being sold for music and homosexuality being such a common factor of hidden rituals by the world's most prestigious leaders really makes me wonder where homosexuality came from and what it really is. Good video by the way-- to the point. I came out in like 2002. I am 25 now so I came out when I was 10. Things happened at the age of 5 that had me mature so quickly. I had a college level mentality since elementary.
