I sent this to my cousin about a year ago and he's VERY religious, he's a pastor at a nearby Baptist church. I was at school and the loudspeaker called me to the office for early dismissal. I thought he was going to scold me but when I walked to the office, I saw him covered in rainbows and he hugged me. The office lady was so confused and we were both laughing, best moment of my life!

I used this as my coming out to my parents around 6 years ago. I was terrified of their reaction so I just sent this to my mom and went for a walk. She called me around 20 minutes later. I went back home and was welcomed with a hug from her and dad. I couldn't expect better reaction.

I came out to my father using this song about 5 years ago. Accidentally stumbled upon this again, and it made me cry. He did come back from work, gave me a big hug and told me he just wants me to be happy. This reminded me of that. I came out to my parents using this song around seven years ago (I was 12), and while things have changed for me over the years, I am still firmly a part of the lgbtq+ community (only this time as the T and the As lol). I remember my mother (a heavily Christian woman) was very upset and abusive towards me (even more so after coming out to her) and I was unable to revisit this video and listen to this song for many years. While she still has a long way to go, and her abuse has only taken on a different shape over time, I'm finally in a good enough place to listen to this song again. Thank you Ally for giving me the confidence to come out and say I like girls when I was but a young girl myself, and while I've learned more about myself and my identity over the years, and the "gay" label doesn't quite fit me anymöre, I am still unbelievably appreciative. I live in Poland, a very homophobic country, I cannot tell my parents that I am a lesbian because I know that it will not be well received, but the songs and films that strangers come out help me a lot in accepting myself, which is not easy when from the youngest years I have been told that lgbtq + is bad, it touches me very much when the parents of children who come out of the closet in front of them only hug them and say that they love them, and I hear their parents' unpleasant comments every day and I wonder if will I ever be able to get married in Poland with my girlfriend? So far, I hear from the president that lgbtq + is an ideology Sorry for my clumsy English

I’m Polish, I don’t live in Poland, but am learning Polish and love learning about the culture. I didn’t know that it’s a homophobic country. I’m bi, and so far I’ve only told my mum and she was fine with it - first thing she said was asking if she would still have grandkids 😂 I have yet to tell my dad because I feel like he might not support me. I'm too scared to tell my other friends or my mom or my super Christian sister that I'm bi/pansexual (still not fully sure yet, maybe I'm gay too).

To be honest, I'm straight but I have a big respect to everyone especially to the LGBT community. And I believe that you don’t have to be gay to be a supporter, you just have to be yourself. When I told my parents that I was into girls I was 18. My mom responded by yelling at me, and my dad punched me, kicked me, and threw me against a wall. He actually broke one of my ribs, and I had to flee. Good thing I was going to college anyway, so I could move into my 'dorm' room a bit early.
