didn't work for me, i tried deleting the data file to reboot the game, and created the option.ini file you shared, but i still get the same technical error message
WOW. Honestly, I love you man. I have tried EVERYTHING to get this to work and your solution was the only one that worked! (I think it was the windows 8 option that did it) but either way, thank you so much!!! For those who are wondering, I did this on a fresh install from origin and followed the steps. It worked for me, I didn't do anything extra, just followed the instructions step by step
Yes! the game works now. thank you! after trying so many instructions, this one is the best! works in my pc. windows 10 2004 version, installed July 2020
Thank God I found your video 😘 I have tried all possible solutions online but nothing came nearer than yours. After I followed your guides, the game works for both CNCGen & CNCGen ZH.. Love U So Much 😘
it worked. not completly without problems, but i can play the games apart from the challenges, but i never really liked them all that much. Thanks for the help
Thanks! I GOT C&C ZH to run on my Win10 Laptop, but couldn't GET C&C Generals to run! Still wanted 'Adminsitrator' permission even tho I am running IN Administrator mode LOL! I thought it MIGHT have been at 1st, due to my Acer laptop not having an integral optical drive, but I have an USB2 external plaugged in! BUT it works with ZH so ext DVD drive is not the issue!
Thanks a lot bro as i can see many of us have tried numerous methods but nothing had worked except for this method, thank you so much. Just follow his steps one by one and the game will work.
hey lawthekid, got a wee issue here, i followed your steps and i got an error msg saying that i need direct x 8 or higher... ( i'm on dx 11 right now )
Hmm thats i dont know... when i first install the game i have the 'options' file already, do you havee facebook or anything so i can send u the screenshoot of the thing? thats if u wan :'v
ENG: So , what you do? You change the file "Options" or something? ESP: Así que , ¿qué fue lo que hiciste? Cambiaste el archivo "Options" ¿O qué? ¿Lo eliminaste y lo cambiaste? ¿Qué cambiaste? (Sorry if i'm disturbing you...bc i really need fix this.) (Perdón sí te estoy molestando...es por qué realmente quiero arreglar esto.)
FIX HERE Video above doesnt work. What work: Delete the dbghelp.dll. In your C&C Zero Hour and generals. Thats it. MUCH THX to PATRICK LEE who figured it out...somehow.
It did not work on my laptop or it is applicable only in pc? before, I can run the game but after I applied the setting and just followed the video and it must have higher version of Direct X, how can I fix it?
Try this. 1 After installation do not run the game. 2 Go to C:Program Files (x86)/ EA Games 3 Open Generals and delete the dbghelp.dll file 4 Open Zero Hour and deleted the dbghelp.dll file 5 Make any changes necessary for your version/copy of the game 6 Run the game and hopefully it should work Works ok for Windows 10 not sure about Windows 7 If you have already installed it than uninstall first than try this fix.
I've been doing everything I can. My game worked until the EA launcher came out. No matter what I try it gives me "This game requires administrative privileges." Why......
Hey, in my File Explorer, under Documents, I don't have a Command and Conquer Generals folder. The game did not ever make one (perhaps because it has not launched successfully?) I can find the Command and Conquer Generals folder under my hard drive > Program Files (x64)>EA Games, but there is nothing in My Documents about it. Any idea what I should do?

Thanks for the video. I followed every step and still get the message: please login with administrator privileges and try again. Is there a work around? Thanks.
tryied this and it still says directx 8.1 or higher, im using a newish gaming laptop with AMD grafic card did all you said still wont launch, but i use origin
When I run the game, it puts the game sideways and its almost impossible to play, I did this and it became the right resolution but its still sideways. If you know how fix pls reply.
Right ok. So this comment is gonna be placed on several generals "fix" videos as it is a baffling mystery. My laptop spec in short summary. Intel core i7 8th gen 8750H CPU, Gtx1060 6GB GPU, 16GB ram, Windows 10 pro (version 1903 AFAIK). So I have the directx error shown on so many Generals "fix" videos. Every way to "fix" it hast worked. Here is what I have tried. 1). The simple "delete the dgbhelp.dll files from both generals and zero hour folders, Still get directx error. 2). Tried the simple "change the resolution" fix on the options/ini file, still get directx error 3). Tried to wrap the dll using DGvoodoo2 dll wrapper (this was a suggestion made by a forum post which got the poster's generals to work) and paste it into the generals directory, then copy 4 dll files from the dgvoodoo x86 folder into the main generals directory, and rename d3d8.dll file to d3d8x.dll. still get the directx error. 4). suggested to me by "Generals legionnaire", double checked that the generals data and generals zero hour data files (which appear by default, and are supposed to do so, in your documents folder) aren't accidentally being placed in microsoft one drive. (I checked, and my one drive wasn't even set up). Also to check in the registry editor that the reg's for the game contain the right information. All was as it should. Still get directx error. 5). Downloaded and installed the official microsoft directx redistribution files, which will replace any missing old directx data which is supposed to be present on directx 12 which might not be. Still get the directx error 6). Probably the most baffling, and one I was CERTAIN, HAD to work. Tried the brilliant "Gen patcher" created by "generals legionnaire". This is a great custom made program which goes through all your generals/generalsZH directory files and corrects every potential issue which is known to cause this directx error, fixes resolution issue and much more. STILL get the directx error .... Just to add. The Generals version I am using is the Origin ultimate collection one. But I have tried it from Oldgamesdownload.com just to be sure it wasn't my version at fault. Also, before trying each step I first uninstalled and reinstalled a fresh, unchanged install of the game, to eliminate any chance of contamination and/or changes contradicting changes. I have also tried all the "fixes" mentioned above together at the same time. STILL get the directx error. I really don't know how it can still not be working. Is there anything more at all I can try? Anyone on youtube or anywhere else found another way to get the game to work? Or, having replayed all the C&C games again, bar Generals, am I just going to have to accept the fact this one isn't ever gonna work for me, and just cut my losses and give up? PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey plz My general ZH was a Mod. it is just that it is zoomed out and more comfortable. Now it worked good just the world builder didn't work. when I had an window 8 and even with my window 10 it worked. Now I have downloaded the original for world builder and now both (general ZH with and without mods) aren't working. So I just deleted it and took it again with a USB with the game from my brother's computer and now it don't work anymore. I have the technical difficulties. I had that issue before and i forgot how i fixed it plz help the ini file didn't work
Does this work for CC Generals cracked by TheXsision? When I try to open both games (Generals and Generals Zero Hour), it doesn't launch. I open up the task manager and see no signs of the game running... There's supposed to be a game.dat in the task manager, right? Welp, in my computer, game.dat is not visible upon launching the game...
