Now if they only fix broken things we wil enjoy it so far i found in red alert retalitation in soviet campaign brother in arms mission on hard is impossible since your troops have reduced move speed it is impossible to run from dogs with your spy and in C&C GDI covert op Hell fury was impossible to finish normal way as well since chinok with troops never arrive where it should be i had to block their base with sandbags and slowly kill them while getting nuked constantly. MP is bad as well we really need fog of war.

@@arckanum332 You can pay for character boosts. The money hungry micro transactions for cosmetics is bad as well. All cosmetics should drop from completion of a quest or downing a boss. Looking at someone's items should tell the story of where they've been, not how much money they've spent. The best looking cosmetics should be from the hardest in game encounters, not the hardest hit on your bank account. I digress, character boost = pay to win. Paying for cosmetics = ruin game content. I haven't touched or even looked at WoW in years, perhaps Blizzard has turned over a new leaf and started being a reputable game company again? I doubt it.

This was the RTS I grew up on. I still remember my dad running cables from our desktop to his work laptop so we could play against each other...and him cursing up a storm after he spent time building a huge army only for me to slip a single Tanya into his base and destroy the whole thing.

@JBishop29 yea man totally agree i used to play ps1 with tvs back to back with a link cable it was epic! I play remastered on My laptop from steam its awesome but i can beat the computer on hard pretty easy, i haven’t played against anyone online for a long time

Command and Conquer is one of my favorite series of all time. I happened to get into it by "accident," too. For my birthday, my mother took me to Best Buy and said I could pick out a PC game as a present. I couldn't decide on what game to get as nothing stood out for me. Finally it was time to go as I wasted too much time with my indecision. I ended up choosing C&C simply because the box art looked cool and the description was interesting. I never played a game like it before. Man, that was soooo lucky!!!

I'm a C&C as well but my first game in the franchise was RA2+Yuri's Revenge. this was back in 2005 when I got my first PC from my parents. I really would love to see a remastered version of RA2 and Tiberian Sun. everything about RA2 is perfect but to play the game with updated graphics in 4K would be even better. Tiberian Sun needs the controls of RA2 though. for example the waypoint system. this is fixed in the C&C Reloaded mod. I hope that mod gets an update as well because I would like to finish the Tiberian Sun + Firestorm campaigns with better controls. I like the futuristic, apocalyptic and alien aspect of Tiberian Sun/Firestorm but overall RA2/Yuri's Revenge is much better as a game with better controls, graphics and design. the colours and detail just pop in RA2. plus the missions are mostly with the MCV. Tiberian Sun is a pain in the ass with all the non-MCV missions and there are lots of them.

Generals was the only C&C game I ever really liked. I liked it ALOH!!!! Red Alert 2 was pretty decent as well. The others were... eh! They caught my attention for a day or two. That's it. I played Generals from time to time up until 2015 as a matter of fact.

Age of Empires 2 has a very active, decently sized community still, if you're interested in checking it out. Matches are pretty easy to find, both on Steam and other places.

Was nice to get a review by someone who didn't play the original TBH, because I get a much more honest feel of what the game plays like without the nostalgia lens put on. I just watched the Digital Foundry review, which was completely raving about how incredibly amazing it was. This review felt a bit more nuanced, which is what I was trying to come across. While I loved the originals and grew up with them, I don't want to buy a game for nostalgia's sake. I need it to be good on its own, and this review hits on a a few concerns I had about the general mechanics which seem to be shrouded by many people with the nostalgia lens on.

The mechanics are identical to the original (outside of a few QoL things like unit queuing). When it comes to anything AI related they couldn’t fix it because of balance issues, so the pathfinding is still janky and stuff like that. The game is open source and has full mod integration so literally everything you can think of can be modded so don’t let the 1995 jank deter you.

My favourite part of this is, it's recordable and can finally add to my collection... Been wanting to do that for the Tiberium series. Glad it's finally possible with better graphics. Hope they do the same with Tiberium Sun... That needs a lot of changes to the animation like laser turrets need to pop out of the ground like samsite does in Dawn... The structure animation in Sun have been dumb down.

That would have been a lot of extra work. Not so much on making the AI better, but a lot of the single playerr missions were built around the capabilites of the AI. Changing the AI means redsigning the missions, which means months of testing, and at that point they could just remake the game instead of remastering it.

I second waiting a remaster. Dune is one of my favorite universes. I've played the games, read the books and watched the movies. Dune 2000 is an all time favorite.

Bought it immediately when it was available for pre-order. Was even ready to download Origin...until I saw the part where it required Origin the same way as uPlay was removed. Hoping that people bought enough to make the guys who delivered it to make remasters of Tiberian Sun + Firestorm along with Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge.

You don't need an Origin account to play this. I'm playing it on Steam and there's no separate login required.

7:13 Games "Like AOE and Starcraft are much easier to go back to than Tiberium Sun or Red Alert" I would have to disagree with you. Back in the day I could never get into AOE or Starcraft, but could easily get into C&C

The pathfinding and lack of auto attacking are the only issues of these games (which are basically old school mechanics).I really think though they deserve more than 20 bucks due to all of that content!

Red Alert is NOT the prequel to Tiberium Dawn. It may seem like it, but they totally different universes.

According to both lore and Word of God(Westwood), it is... Continuity just branches off to either Red Alert 2 or Tiberian Dawn, interpretations as to how may vary...

*3:00* I don't think switching between tabs is that difficult, maybe in some new beginners in the RTS Genre, it would be, since they might not know how to use hotkeys, like me, when I first started playing RTS Games, but for me, it's worth it to have different tabs, to know the difference between of the units.

Sadly, this should've been released many years ago. They just didn't do enough with the game to justify purchasing it. Now you can find indie RTS games with more advanced mechanics at equal pricing.

do take note that command and conquer tiberium dawn was the 3rd game in the RTS genre after warcraft 1 & dune 2. Comparing C&C gameplay to starcraft 1 and AoE 2 is just a bad comparison both games came out 3 & 4 years after C&C.

I agree with most of the points, but isn't the argument that it's easier to get into other old RTS games than C&C / RA flawed? Considering that you mention that you did play those games back in the day and skipped RA?

My only critisim of your review is the opinion that it is easier to go back to Age of Empires or Starcraft because they play better. That is only true because you played the originals and are very familar with them. I am the opposite of you. I played C&C growing up and only played Age of Empires games a couple of times and never played Starcraft. I find C&C and Red Alert much easier to go back to than Age of Empires or Starcraft, and for the same reason as you. For me, they play better.

I agree completely. The game looks and sounds awesome but it's terribly clunky. I don't think I'll come back to play after beating the campaigns unless there is a major AI update.

Tiberium Sun and Tiberium Dawn are different, trust me it's way, way easier to go back to TS then TD. But I like that you did not go to the default "this is the best remaster ever", the sad fact is that the switch between graphics and listening to the community limited this game from being AoE 2 DE levels of greatness and it makes me sad. PS. Don't ever take the Tiberian Sun name in vain! or I will retract my like.

It’s funny that you say EA destroyed C&C (which they didn’t to an extent) and yet Generals is the most popular C&C game which is an EA game. C&C3 and C&C3: Kane’s Wrath were also very popular.

The AI is definitely the worst part about this remaster. AI in skirmishes is also very poor which bums me out because I wanted to play that mainly because I don't like online pvp.

hold down "Q" then click to attack and click to move, tank units will attack while moving, at least it works in RA but maybe not tib dawn

Unit pathing is the reason why i wont buy this. Same thing happened in age of empires remaster. Amazing game but having unit get stuck on a rock walking is too annoying.
