The oldest two games are 640x400, by the way, not 800x600. Not sure where you got those numbers. The scrolling speed in these two is actually tied to the frame rate, so if you have some way of limiting that, that will fix the fast scrolling issue. You can actually change the resolution in TS/RA2 by editing the DDrawCompat.ini file and adding the option "native" to the end of the "SupportedResolutions" list, then editing SUN.INI / RA2.INI / RA2MD.INI and adding the line "AllowHiResModes=yes" under the [Video] header. That'll unlock the full resolutions list in the in-game settings.

Bought the collection. Started Red Alert 2. Got a black screen. Opened youtube. Got a crystal clear instruction. Keep making these great video's. Other channels have so much bloatware in their video's. You are just straight to the point and so informative. Still playing with your recommended helldivers setting! No one beat that. You got yourself a member or whatever you call it. For the game. It's a nostalgic trip. I secretly played this online using a, per per minute, telephone internet line. I remember games ended up slowing down the game so much because the computers couldn't handle it when all armies were at full strength. Looking forward to try this again.

The Sage Engine used in Generals,CNC3,KW, RA3 and RA3U and CNC 4 is always capped at 30fps due to the physics being tied to the framerate

Incredible to see, how smooth Generals and Zero Hour are running on the SD. Remembering the good old days, when a fully fledged, loud, hot and energy hungry PC with great hardware struggles to mantain constant smooth framerates... :D

It's great to finally see the full collection of Command & Conquer games on Steam. Although I will probably stick with the ones I currently have, as I didn't grew up with the series like I did with Ages of Empires, and I've already got too many games on PC as is. It also doesn't help that I'm running low on space on my Steam Deck. But I'm sure a lot of people would be happy to see these games get a proper re-release. Not to mention we also have Gate Keeper and Sim City 3000 added as well, among a few others that I've overlooked as of right now. Though I already have Sim City 3000 on GOG, and I think I'll wait until it's actually playable on Deck before I install it through Heroic Game Launcher.

The C&C Collection is a great addition for the Steam Deck,as it's portable,gives it a really handy niche..eg-you don't need a laptop or PC to play them.All in all..the Command & Conquer Collection is still a good notch-up for the Deck and I'm sure many will still get to play the original C&C titles and the later releases,through this game...Its good,as an old school C&C Player myself,these games are alot of fun,as SciFi/Action/Strategy..and so will be looking out for a deck in future.I'd say this is an Essential Game for the machine..Cool Video Steam Deck Gaming..Enjoyed👍🏻😃🎞️and some great review points on All the C&C titles in this pack.. and the tips for eliminating the black menu screens..Thanks ..Good Job👍🏻🎞️😃

Red alert 2 and Yuri revange are my childhood, I'm curious if have working online, becouse I remember I seen the online mode when I played the game from unknown sites.

I don't think the default online play actually works, no. You can connect to the servers, but I hear you can't actually get in-game. Everyone nowadays plays on CnCNet.

CncNet has been a thing for a long time. It took a fair amount of trial and error to get that client working on Linux, but I haven't tried it on a Steam Deck or with the Steam version of the game.

Awesome tutorial, - thank you very much, mate! - As I am an older gamer, RAII and Tiberian Sun are two of my most beloved games of my younger years (besides Diablo II), sitting together with my friend for hours, playing coop against the AI via LAN connected PC´s. Tiberan Sun was also responsible, that I have done a big change in my life (cancel study due to addiction to the game ;) - so start working, marry and being a father of two fantastic kids). Just one thing, I discovered: The sound of the speech samples in Generals seem to be a little distorted, do you have an idea, what could cause this? It sounds like talking over a radio, but more distorted than that, - more like "Alien" voices...

when was the last time you rebooted your deck fully? Also try switching to desktop mode and run the updates in KDE

@@SteamDeckGamingBefore installing the CnC games, it´s doing unpdate stuff, so a few reboots. It´s seems just a little distorted in Generals, in all other games the sound is perfect. But maybe it "should" be like this (radio chatter).

Dungeon keep 1 works great download FX mod runs at 90fps and used 5w of power been playing it all week even the music works

Does this collection still require us to be online all the time in order to play it? The way EA typically has their games locked into online only, or can we actually play this collection offline?

No EA app. Full offline support.

That depends on the game. C&C4 always had that requirement, and I don't think that changed, but I think it's the only game that does that.

Been trying to get rid of this black box for quite some time. I have the collections through EA. I'm unable to add in the Command Line Argument. It does not appear on steam. I have seen a command line in the EA launcher, but it states the code is incorrect due to symbols. Any advice?!

Remastered Collection and Ultimate Collection are two different things. But TUC is a bundle, mot a single game entry on Steam. Just find the store page for any game in the collection and scroll down and you'll find a link to the bundle.

Arent rts kinda painful on a deck controller? Even some turn-based games are somewhat uncomfortable to me personally. P.S. might be a “skill issue” though as i am not too good at rts on mouse-keyboard.

For most of these, starting from Tiberian Sun, you can change the resolution manually in the game's config file to get better screen fill, but I heard that on Generals, setting it to a different ratio than 4:3 makes the camera positions mess up in the 3D cutscenes.

Generals should have a video running in the background, which currently isn't working for some reason. The click to get menu is a default function that was there from the original launch as well. This was done so you could see the video playing. DLC was back then a "expansion pack", so actually the DLC did exist just not in the form you know of. They were on CD usually. The black window issue I personally don't have, runs right out of the box. I however do have a major lag issue for some reason right at the start of any battle I start up. If this occurs, press escape and wait for a minute or 2, continue the game and it should run fine. No idea why it does this though. It never did that with any other launcher or the CD version. Could be a STEAM related issue.

PC RTS games have to get with the times and have *Full controller* support. *Handheld* gaming PCs are increasing in popularity and many PC gamers don't care about the whole "KB/M elitism" Controller support from Xbox360 C&C and Lortr is a good baseline example.

@@Nyerguds I'm talking about PC RTS games in general. 30 years of PC RTS games and they still can't really provide controller support? FPS genre managed that over 20 years ago and is very much a standard feature for PC FPS games. btw, C&C TW, KW and RA3 had full controller support on the Xbox360 version.

@@Nyerguds "Controllers were designed for FPS" This was NOT the argument made when FPS games from PC made their way to consoles over 20 years ago. The arguments were the very opposite. There is NO good reason at all why PC RTS genre is the only major PC genre left that doesn't have full controller support. Frankly the PC RTS genre has been shrinking over the years and it's biggest most famous tile - Star Craft 2, is over 10 years old and not growing the genre. The few RTS games coming out from indies is not going to grow the genre. It needs to expand to also attract big console demographics and handheld gaming PCs that are looking to become a major way people are preferring to play in a few years. OR let PC RTS games continue to shrink because of some silly "KB/M' "Elitism"

I've literally read interviews with the designers of Dune II where they said the user interface was inspired by the way the mouse was used in Apple's early Windows-like GUI. The whole gameplay control is literally designed around mouse usage. Touch controls are in fact a lot closer to that than controllers will ever be.

There is always the possibility to play with a bluetooth mouse (and a travel keyboard), especially when connecting the Steam Deck to a TV or video googles, like the XREAL Air or similar.

Those first 2 ports are so bad lmao. I've played many bad PC ports over the years. Played old games that were more graphically intense than modern AAA games at maximum settings. PC gaming, amiright But with C&C, that is absolutely uncalled for. I've played a 2D pixel game that dropped down to 40fps erry other 3 seconds in a hub where I was AFK. But that was still better than whatever EA just released. These ports are worse than DARKSIDERS 2! And DS2 is among the worst ports of all games on Steam

@@cqllel5186Why? Either you choose to experience the originals, or you get the remaster. And this collection existed on EA's platform before the remasters were even made, so it doesn't make much sense to suddenly go and include them in this just because they bring it to Steam.
