14:15 Are they playing chicken? 25:45 That poor dude, bold as brass and still he got taken down :( 27:05 Is this really a proportional response? :p Two old planes fire at you, gets shot down and you follow up with a full scale attack on all fronts. What do you do if a co-worker steals you lunch? Blow up the office? :D
I miss the days of Fleet Command. While I appreciate the increased scope of this game over Fleet Command, I miss being able to see the action with detailed models. Seeing the aircraft moving around of the carrier deck was fucking amazing at the time...and yet over 20 years later we still can't get something that detailed...that's sad. *sigh* I'm still about to buy this though. I've been waiting for something like this.
I yeah can see why that has some appeal, although to me personally I like the abstraction of Command and using my imagination. I some ways my most memorable moments in gaming were on interfaces like this. Anyway, you might want to take a look at some of the following titles, most of which I have not (yet) hosted my channel, but still: - Cold Waters - War on the Sea
Could you make a series of walkthrough of the tutorials already existing on the game? Althow they are tutorials, some of them, seem to be a little complicated Thanks :)
Thanks for the feedback. Command is really annoying in that sense, since it does not have an in-game audio setting (!) and I turned the windows audio controll already down to 4%. Even than I had to re-record my "Let's try". I have decided to run without audio and music ond command for the future (not that the audio is that impressive).
@@SeriousStrategyGamer I sure appreciate all the time and thought you put into your streams. It's certainly a labor of love. Thanks for letting me know about the lack of in-game audio settings. Honestly, that's pretty funny. I've always seen the CMNO and CMO series as a "work in progress" ever since they took over from the Harpoon series.
8:16 SuperCobras are part of the Marine Corps and have been used before to pick off Iranian patrolvessels. They have their uses :) New to the channel, the game looks awesom but too complicated for (plus I don't have the time). But fun to watch.
Hey SSG question for you. I purchased CMO via Matrix/Slitherine. So when I start the game and go to Steam Workshop nothing shows up. So if you go to Steam is there an add on that loads all the scenarios that show up at the start of your vid? Or from Steam download each and every mod from the community. I thought maybe this scenario was part of the community pack but I don't see it listed. Anyhow any help you can provide is appreciated! Thx
Hmm, this is a little difficult for me to answer, I do have the steam one, and there the workshop integration does work. Black Tiger is part of the community pack AFAIK, so if you download that you should have it (although you might have to manually select it and it might not show up under Steam items in the game, but more generically under scenarios). Lastly, I noted that even with the steam version the game can take up to 10 second to actually load the steam libriary, so do give it some time after clicking on the steam items tab.
Technically you can also use ground elements in Command, but the modelling is not on par with the naval aspects. The closest match I know for land combat would be Armored Brigade (Cold War) and Command Ops 2 (WW2 theme).
So, this scenario played out completely different than it was supposed to. The Iran F14s who opened up on the hornets were NOT supposed to do that, they have "Investigate targets inside of weapons range" turned on in their mission setup. As this scenario was made before those options were introduced. If you just open up the scenario editor and edit the mission those F14s are on and unselect that box the scenario will run as normal. There's not really supposed to be any shooting in this scenario at least not like this, it's a very story driven scenario, the briefing and description should have alluded to the fact that the F14s engaging were a bug. I'm surprised you did not notice after reading everything that perhaps the F14s wandering out of their CAP and opening up on a group of hornets within the first few minutes wasn't supposed to happen. You were reacting to and playing the scenario the complete opposite of the way it was meant to be played and carried out due to this bug. I know it's been some years now but this is actually a really good set of scenarios, again if you ever want to use it this scenario and see how cool it is and how it's actually supposed to play out you just have to edit that one Iranian flight of F14s to not investigate contacts outside of their prosecution zone. It was fun watching you talk about striking air bases and potential targets among other things for the entirety of the rest of the video when you were basically playing out and reacting to the rest of the scenario incorrectly due to a bug haha. This scenario is supposed to play out with you following and only controlling one single unit really who doesn't get into any fights
Yeah well honestly that is what I expected when going into the scenario. The ROE did not seem to indicate an immediate escalation... But I got to follow what's happening in game and if they do open up then unless I get specific directions otherwise, I am going to assume they are fair game.
Well that depends on your budget and preferences ;) It is probably the most detailed hard-core air/naval simulation "game" that is around and therefore quite up my alley. On the other hand it really is not that visually appealing and still suffers some quirks...
@@isactucker3788 no worries. Feel free to brwose some of my videos for some gamplay. I would suggest the Black Tiger III and IV scenarios for a relatively comprehensive view of how the game feels.
Love the time you devout to this. But PLEASE turn off the ANNOYING MUSIC! Have no idea why RU-vid gamers need to have the game music BLARING! TURN IT OFF. So we can hear your commentary. Thank You.
@@SeriousStrategyGamer Hey SSG, I apologize for how I worded this comment above. I was having a "music headache" :) Appreciate your time & effort put into your vids and really enjoy your talking through the scenarios. Thx!
@@civsully1740 Actually some people enjoy game music, I don't think you can satisfy everybody whatever you choose, that's the curse of making youtube videos.
As a long time Command gamer I would say it's a fun game, but by no means would I call this game realistic. Too many fundamental mechanics, like submarine warfare and the air combat model are unrealistic. The game needs to fix its fundamentals before flooding the game with gimmicky features that go beyond the scope of this level of simulation, like their aircraft damage model.
Appreciated. I would say it is comparatively realistic in relation to other games, which tend to care a lot less about various systems. That said, I agree it has weaknesses. To me the most glaring one is the abolute reliablity of radar.
@@SeriousStrategyGamer Yeah it's probably the most realistic game out there in this genre but that's mostly due to the dearth of operational-simulation games. Agreed about the radar. It's a bit jarring, especially for the mechanically steered ones.
I think it's about time the US stops showing all it's cards. We need to go back to keeping certain weapons systems and ranges classified to make adversaries unable to account for certain weapon systems and change the calculus of war.
Well, of course many systems are classified, espacially electronics. The game mostly takes "best guesses" at the limited unclassified soruces to build up the databases.
True.If the game fails, it is undetectable. The amount of parameters to control makes it a job rather than a game.It simulates reality, but in it the task is carried out by several people.
