WotC really needs to start setting MSRP again, it's insane that sellers can commit highway robbery like this and get away with it because "it's wotc's fault, the poor, poor sellers _have_ to make the product that expensive to make any profit at all!"

@@ToxicAtom The lack of MSRP is specifically so you do this. WotC gets to shift the blame from themselves to sellers. But this price was sold through distributors at a much higher price than normal. The commander decks for instance were sold to stores for 60 dollars, which is absurd

@@raonairlots of people want to build a sliver deck from the precon, and the land is extremely useful in it. Stores expect a price hike so do so anyway

I'd consider it overrated, if it's not a budget option for the sliver manabase it's not really useful at all. Spending six mana to make a sliver is pretty uninspiring. Why not purchase a nice Cavern of Souls instead for seven dollars cheaper? Does much the same thing and you can use it in any deck instead of just in a sliver deck.

No the real question is should I buy commander masters or pay my rent and buy a printer at Costco and print all of magic for less then a set of decks and a set booster box.

I was thinking the same. Or, they are indeed bringing slivers back in a set. But secret lair is more likely imo.

Most of us (including LRR official and LRRMTG) are on Kind.social (also run by a LRR fan, with lots of LRR fans on it)

A lot of what drives down prices is not players who buy a few packs, or maybe a box or two. It's sellers who buy cases specifically to sell either at their physical storefront or on sites like TCGplayer.

@@raonair Possibly, although that hasn't stopped things before. I think the prices will go down significantly for a few months, then steadily climb higher than they were before this set (except in outstanding cases like P3K reprints.)

depends on what you mean by "in charge of magic", because that sounds like the qualities of Maro and Gavin, except they are aren't in charge of the finances of the game.

I make literally the lowest amout possible from disability do to a major back injury and I play just fine. Buy singles, buy over time, and dont build high power decks unless you are slowly building it. I have multiple $500^ decks and have 0 issue playing friends or at locals.

Except there are products for players who want to play cheaply. It's super backwards and bizarre when people attribute irrational emotions to companies like this.

​@@mikephillips1043 per the SGA, that's $1,350/month - do you just not have bills to pay, nor have to buy food? Because I know if I made the absolute minimum as you claim, I wouldn't be "bragging" about having multiple $500 decks and shaming others who don't.

@@highfivefromryan buddy I wish it was that much social security calculates based on how much you paid in over your working life and I became fully disabled at 25. But just to do math for you if you spent $20 a month on cards (which people pay in 2 fast food trips) in 2yrs thats a $500 deck. I dont waste money on fast food/coffee/pizza, I dont buy packs, I dont buy random cards I expect to ever leave my deck, if a card does leave my deck I sell it to pay for the other cards, and I dont have 21 commander decks like an asshole I have a couple to rotate and if that gets boring I can build over a year or sell my old cards for new. It's called being a responsible adult. You dont need the new meta card everytime a set is released and if the shit is too expensive play fucking budget...

People act like masters sets are for the average magic player.
