Watching people in the comments justify this rework/nerf with "oh but it was in the meta and was braindead and yall are just whining" feels so weird because Commander is one of the few support towers in the game and was vital to the core balance of TDS. Like of course the community is going to be shaky about it, anyone would be iffy about a major nerf to a 'meta' tower.
"made the meta stale" like bro do people forget about farm??? Its basically required for any multiplayer game. And no, gold cowboy isnt reasonable because of how expensive it is and loses value from competition in multiplayer.

If they were gonna buff its damage… they should’ve made it just constantly shoot like any other tower? So you can justify the damage buff, because realistically before I could’ve placed tons of them and spammed call to arms for more dps?

@@dansmith6300 That doesn't mean it's not an offensive support. You know, those APCs can help with crowds. Also, electro shocker isn't the greatest offensive support either. That doesn't mean he just isn't one. Let's take (pre-buff) militant for another example. He wasn't a good DPS tower. That didn't mean he just wasn't one because of it.
So basically, at max level, the firerate buff is decreased to 50% (fair), the range is decreased from 20 to 14 (that seems a bit too much, but alright), and now you have to wait 3 1/3 seconds before using another commander ability (why?). In general, the firerate buff at max level is actually 37.5%, as the 50% buff will only be active 75% of the time with proper chaining. In my opinion, they should revert the range nerf, and repurpose the caravan ability for a tower. Because making commander’s buffs go from 55% to 37.5% is already enough of a nerf, and I think we’re all perfectly happy to trade the caravan ability in for a range buff.
They're heavily nerfing support towers to not make the game be literally "ALWAYS bring commander and dj, it takes soo much brains to do that!", DJ probably will be getting a huge nerf soon aswell
Commander was supposed to be a support tower. They decided to nerf its support, but make commander more of an offensive tower than before. They should nerf its offensive capabilities and buff its supporting capabilities. *To do this:* increase the range, buff LVL 4 standard buff, decrease damage, decrease firerate, decrease the ATTACK RANGE (basically the range of the tower’s attacks, not the buff), nerf second ability but also making it cheaper, delete lead detection, and finally delete hidden detection.
It is literally the point of the change. It is the most dominant support tower by far being the meta defining tower for so long. Shifting its supporting capabilities to offense isn't a bad change. I'm still not quite satisfied with the still quite bad offensive capabilities but I think it is an overall good change
There is literally 0 offense before this change anyway and nerfing the already super mediocre offense rn is NOT the way to improve on it. Never become a balancer plz

Nah thats even dumber. The consumable update was already stupid and if theyre balancing to FORCE players to use them thats a horrible decision. Theyre literally actively ruining the game.@@sus_noob428
1:48 20/30 Shots. And yea it is intentional. I didnt mention this in my review video (which is going to be uploaded btw) but if thats the case. He will continue shooting even if the buff wears off so he has limited rounds before he stops firing which makes him a offensive and support tower. Like i said in the previous comments. He is useful against the flying and lead enemies
the latter is better, id say making it stronger is better then just making it cheaper because you can only have 3 at a time and commander is not really something i see people get early on so better apcs would be much better
250 from a singular commander at max plus gunners which is about 220 more dps and the 125 from missle but its gonna hit 3 enemies at least most of tbe the time so 375 plus 220 and 250 so about 840 dps per commander if you have everything active at once which is crazy but is only for like 10 seconds but also the dps its giving to towers so its abt 1k-2k
Is it still possible to chain comms with the commander nerf , plus butchering commmander with a nerf like this ruins a lot of speedrun strats etc ,seeing as its more expensive and the buff is nerfed to the ground
the upgrades cost seems too large for all the nerfs commander received, making chaining harder is probably the largest disadvantage it got, like, not everyone even knows how to chain, it literally targets more experienced players, let us at least have 4 commanders lol the ability also kinda sucks as for something that costs 3k and requires you to put 15k for the upgrade in order to use it
Chain is impossible now. The actual firerate duration is 8 seconds instead of the usual 10, and the cooldown is 40 instead of 30. Basically, they nerfed the chain in 2 ways requiring you to use 5 commander to chain.
@vanillajellyfish so mercenary, dj, farm, and possibly g cowboy get nerfed? They are all op on paper and unfair, but aside from g cowboy and merc, the game will become near impossible for the majority of the modes.
So lemme get this strait. They nerfed the most vital part of the meta for some extra damage that is useless past wave 30 (and yes I’m talking about the tanks, don’t get me started with the lead detection and tower dmg)

Yeah. Which was u know actually essential for certain modes like polluted. Cause u know I have beaten polluted without DJ but whenever someone forgets commander we always lose. There was no need for this update other than the fact that the devs didn’t have the control to rip of consumables from tdx
Honestly if they nerf the firerate buff and increase the dang cooldown the range nerf is already highly unnecessary. This is a support tower and it needs to be effective at doing so. This would also increase its dps capabilities as well. The nerf is fine i just dont agree with the range and the caravan is obviously too expensive to spawn.
Increase commander dps is useless, commander got nerf is not a bad thing since it is one of the best tower in the game. But i hate the placement limit and range nerf, it not needed, or atleast make commander have 6 placement limit and im.happy with that.
I find it pointless to increase the commander’s max damage because it’ll only attack when the call to arms ability is activated. And the placement limit… I’m not even gonna say anything about it.
Everything else about the command nerf is fine except for the fact the range was nerfed as fuck and you can no longer chain which makes commander way more useless
I dont really mind the nerf on commander to be honest, but i genuinely hope they rebalance stuff around this nerfed commander, i dont see hardcore been very possible with no special tower now because of this sadly
I feel like the APC ability kinda falls under the same issue the mercenary base’s damage buff has. The only reason it’s there is because no one would use the spawns without it. It just kinda feels unnecessary in a way. Then again, APC spam go crazy.
@@PosterityIslesNews I don’t mean to say the Mercenary base is bad, I just mean that it feels like the buff was added to encourage using it over something like commander in harder modes. My problem is that the combination feels out of place on the Mercenary base. Also be honest no one would use a APC tower over the current military base. (I revised this like 10 times lol)
The thing that im mad about is that, why would you change 14 skins with custom cars and not Atleast change the plushie skin? , its a 40+ euro/dollar commander skin (i have the plushie skin and they didnt even try to give it custom cars) i feal scammed
very good update it is balance change still op tho because 3 lv 4 is 50% more dps but the same time they nerf lv2 which is resonable the range nerf is really werid i don t think they should nerf it that heavily for the range other hand they should nerf lv4 because it still very op on support term
1:50 be thankful it is because, if it isnt intentional then he wont continue providing support with his gun before his ammo runs out so be thankful at least u got a tower who will shoot after the buff is being used
The damage is still not worth the hefty price of 15k plus why does he only fire when using the ability? Why doesn't he fire infinitely like most other towers? Commander is a support tower not dps
At least he is useful in detecting enemies. You will need him fully when dealing with Lead, Flying, and Hidden since he is the 2nd tower with all the detectors in this reworked update after Engineer
@@alexandrumoloiu716 it may be little. At least he is worth it. Even a maxed Commander can hurt a Enemy so add a little taste of supporting firepower from commander for a easy win

Egg you are wrong actually you can still chain them because coa lasts longer and the coa stacks on top op the passive making it so the coa at max gives 50% boost which is only 5% less than before so you are wrong egg. Sorry

This nerf is weird. I think they should just revert the range nerf and let commander himself shoot enemies all the time and not just during Call Of Arms and I think it will be fine.

Update is ass. The devs literally replaced a core tower in dps cause they didn’t have the self control to not add consumables. Commander did not need to be nerfed. Maybe they should have I don’t know not have added a game breaking feature cause tdx did.
Is it just me or is this tower range nerf actually huge Consider this since you need a max dj to make its range decent since the original range is 14 (very bad) This tower feels like B+ now
