Because mono Blue commanders have a tendency to play very do-nothing, controlly games. Which doesn't often serve well as entertainment.

final life total was 174 with a trigger on the stack to double but the game ended before the trigger resolved

Otherwise it would have been 348 Life at the end of the game, I think that's the highest life total we've seen in Commander Vs

Jeremy played a life gain deck that got around 200 in a turn; can't remember the final amount- and Wes Wise played a voltron-commander deck that also ran celestial mantle, but he didn't count the triggers for double strike and so his displayed life total was much different than his real one. But yeah, pretty high.

Back in Season 1, when Stephen got John's rebel deck, he technically could have gotten infinite life, but stopped at 27k. I believe that is the highest we've seen.

Justin's life total is actually 174 at the end. The first trigger resolves before Jeremy dies but the game is over before the second trigger resolves

Ryan Price Give him flying or first strike. Some double strike. There are options. I've won turn 5-6 with him plenty. But he is unreliable and it isn't a sure thing most of the time. I still think he is underrated by most people. Not my favorite though. Btw, the promo is nice!

Wish they would have left Zetalpa out of this battle, it’s too powerful in the elder dinosaur matchup. There are very few answers to it in the other mono colors played.

I mean, that's just because they didn't use the blue dino. A blue deck could have easily countered or bounced it or turn it into a land or keep it tapped or any kind of shenanigans. Both Ghalta and Etali are better commander on their own imo. Just the fact that no one else was playing blue or white (which has the most exile effects) just really worked in Justin's favor.

GOAD does work 1v1, any creature that is out when you cast it cannot attack you. If there are no other legal targets they still cannot attack you next combat. It would have given Jeremy an extra turn. I'm sure he still woulda lost but it does work 1v1.

It doesn't work like that. Goad doesn't say that the creature cannot attack you, it says the creature must attack and IF ABLE it must attack a player other than you. So if you are the only player left it is not able to attack any other one and thus must attack you.

Anyway I'm going to throw this out there since I actually got a response on something. I have been asking in the youtube video's and on Star City and the players personal twitter accounts how a player would go about submitting a deck to possibly be played in a future episode but haven't gotten a response on how one could go about doing that.Thanks either way you guys put out the best commander content by far keep up the good work.

That's just the way the theme went (There's only so much you can do against Indestructible with mono colored decks). Of course they needed to show case the Ixalan version of E(lder) D(inosaur) H(ighlander), (although Stephen should have built a blue deck with Nezahal, Tetzimoc is GARBAGE as a commander). Now, we never have to see it again. And good riddance. XD

Right, and find a way to deal with an indestructible, flying commander? Tell me how many ways Suarez was going to be able to exile/return to hand that monster while trying to buy enough time to do so? At least if someone had run a mono blue deck there would have been plenty of ways to deal with it (still no guarantee there either), but also be able to deal with 2 other players at the table. Everything is easy to solve when you're thinking in a vacuum.
