Very informative learning a lot about these compressors trying to troubleshoot my own thanks for the info

Yes I geek out watching HVAC/R videos and MIT And other state universities professors who post their classes and experiments online about laboratory chemistry especially that involve vacuum / thermal dynamics / fluid dynamics/ lubricants / metallurgy. Ect

sorry, i forgot to mention that on the scan tool it shows .8 mili amp from ecu to the solenoid,sorry about that, this pid was the one that convinced me that i have a none responding solenoid or a bad compressor.

sorry Tom took me too long to provide the vin,had to go back to the shop to check my scan tool. IFM5K8AR4HGB82988. thanks

Tom,your tester is between the compressor and the computer,so i assume without disconnecting the harness from the ecu to the compressor it is still safe to manually control the compressor,please advise. thanks.

You disconnect the harness from the compressor and the tester is in between in series. It could read the signal coming from the ECU And you can override and manually feed your own signal to control the compressor . Also reading the windings of the compressor control valve .

Also i have a explorer 2017 that when you turn on the A/C the clutch will engage but that compressor will not work and the high side and low side pressure stay at the room temp which was about 70 degrees to about 70 psi,i checked the duty cycle to the solenoid and i see a command on the scope an on off duty cycle, i checked the data that ecu is looking at like evap temp which was 20 degrees centigrade and high pressure transducer out put voltage which was about 1.4v and they seem ok and when i looked at the solenoid control command and saw the duty cycle i replaced the compressor which did not fix any thing tomorrow i am going to put the old compressor back in the truck and order your tester ,i wish i had that tool already ,but the damage is done.now i am wondering what am i missing here,is the duty cycle that i see on the scope is a default signal or what,if i remember correctly it was about 50 percent off and on and it did not change when i played with the blower fan motor, the thing is that i was replacing the alternator and in order to do do that had to remove the A/C compressor and i know the system was working before, so now it is on me to fix this,and let me tell you that when i put the alternator and compressor back and evacuated and recharged the system i overcharged it about a pound, i thought it had rear A/C and it did not it took me about 5 minutes to realize that after i started the truck and saw 200 psi on high side and 50 psi on low side,then i discharged the refrigerant and lowered it from 2.36 pound to 1.36 and it did not work after that, and advice would be greatly appreciated. very sorry for the long email.

I might have missed it but what tool are you using thanks
@coldfinger459sub0
@coldfinger459sub0 Год назад
This is the generic version of the four seasons, variable displacement, reader, and actuator tool. If you buy the white label no name on the box you save about $40-$70 . It’s the exact same tool you’re just not paying for the name.

Also is this process for charging the ac system on a variable ac compressor thanks
@coldfinger459sub0
@coldfinger459sub0 Год назад
The same as an old AC compressor. I saw your weight only.. if you’ve seen my videos, you see it only takes about 30 seconds to completely charge the AC system without ever starting the engine. All ac are like this

Tom Happy New Year, I there another way the active and very the solenoid without using the tool? I have a few com0laints on the 2008 Toyota Yaris model

I have never had to diagnose Aris yet with a problem. If you have a universal pulse with modulator generator . Like one for testing fuel injectors You can feed a signal to the valve duty cycle, 30%, 50% 80% And you will see the pressures change on your gauge as you do this . I’m not sure what the factory manual says for testing Ohm reading but usually there’s somewhere around 11 ohms plus a minus a little bit read the manual specifications but it’s Toyota. They probably don’t give a spec maybe. . But sometimes they can pass the resistance test and after they’re an operation and they get hot from operation from a little while then the windings can open up or short . So sometimes a static test doesn’t show a problem. The thermal expanding of the copper windings will make the problem appear later.

Another thought, can you take the new valve and attach to the harness to see if the new one works? Before installing it?Possible?
