Indeed! The Royal Marines are to some extent the successors of the cavalry regiments of the 1800s, who had fancy uniforms and very exuberant moustaches and sideburns.
He was actually, there was this soldier with a large moustache in WWII .It’s somewhere in Wikipedia. Edit: Guy was Captain in the Paras during WWII. Guy’s name was James Cleminson.

I served in a cavalry regiment for 10yrs, applied for the Army pilot course, passed grading and loaded onto course, passed fixed wing, rotary basic and advanced rotary. I have no degree. Maybe you are confusing the RAF requirements with Army pilots.
When the marines are getting out of the wildcat the heli is hovering low in mid air and couldn’t the enemy just get a RPG or heavy machine gun and then blow it to bits and that helicopter would be full of marines and the pilots.
