Commencal Bikes has been at it in the last couple seasons updating most there range with there new virtual pivot system. I am still excited to check out the new Meta especially the Meta SX but for today we have the Tempo. I'll continue my effort by throwing this bike down some of the nastiest terrain around as well as rallying up and slapping as many corners as I can on the way down. This bike was on loan from Bailey and built up from a frame, but if I had the option that Öhlins edition in the metallic green is what I'd go for.

Did you try Rocky Mountain Instinct 2024 ? Can you say some alternatives to this frame? Last time i was riding almost 90min and love it, then i start searching alternatives, but i cannot find anything what are so "Fit Out of the box" and suit to my predispositions. I try Ns Bike Define, Giant Trance, Calibre Bossnut, Dartmoor Bluebird but the RM Instinct was top.

I have not yet. My favorite alternatives (in the 120-130 range) are probably the Evil Following for full 29er and the Santa Cruz Nomad for mixed wheel. As far as "Fit out of the box" it's hard to beat those current sale prices on the Commencal's especially if you're looking for an alloy bike.

Planning on getting this but the ohlins edition I wonder if that fork would help the stiffness up front

That is the way I would go. I think the Ohlin’s 36 would make all the difference, and the deal on Commencal’s site is insane!

Comparison to transition smuggler ?
@NICADV
@NICADV 17 дней назад
They have rather different approaches and maybe geared toward different riders. The Smuggler is a bigger bike both wheelbase and significantly longer reach. The frame also outperforms the fork as far as stiffness and makes for a bit unbalanced feel. The Smuggler's suspension climbs with the best of them but then sacrifices traction on the descents. As far as the Tempo the suspension stays more active both descending and climbing. I tend to prefer that, as it has predictable traction even under heavy braking. Lastly, I would say they are both on great sales but for the money Commencal kills it! I would go Ohlin's edition all day with the 36.

How would you compare this to the ibis ripley af?
@NICADV
@NICADV 2 дня назад
Both bikes have the same head angle but that's about where things end. The body position on the Ripley feels more like a traditional xc bike. The Tempo with its taller head tube, steeper seattube and longer rear center allow for a bit more performance on technical descents and climbs. The super low top tube is also great for moving around on the bike. Commencal's suspension is more active and ground hugging while the DW of the Ripley offers a firmer platform when hammering on the pedals. They are both great trail bikes but it's going to depend on your terrain and style.

@@NICADVat 5’11” would you say the Large was the right fit for you? I’m 5’10” with a 33” inseam. Thinking Medium as the 470 reach feels long.

@@SeanHuckleberryAdventurePease I could definitely ride the medium. I prefer the 470-475 reach but it’s your preference.
