I just sold this bike as it was a bit much for me in southern Utah, what 120-130mm trail bike would you recommend? I’m getting decision paralysis. Following, Trail 429, Izzo, Smuggler, Rascal. All on the list. Help! 😂
Interesting you mention Evil Following as that’s what I have and am looking to add the next step up. Something more capable in the rock gardens and drops but still reasonably light and pedal-able because 90% of riding will be on less aggressive local trails but want the capability for when I travel. How would you compare this then to the Evil Offering or Fuel EX?
@@kevinclark9176 I think they’re very comparable bikes. The Evil and Trek climb a bit more efficiently and I tend to prefer the more stretched climbing position of those bikes. The bikes all descend at a similar level, but EX and Offering have that poppy feeling you’re probably used to with the Following.
I'll be interested to hear your report on it once you get to test it out. Pleased with the 150mm Lyrik Ultimate I installed on my 5010. Granted I never had a Pike on mine, so I have no frame of reference if it is much better.
Been loving mine! I only have 2 park days and a shuttle day on it but it jumps amazing, eats tech when it needs to, and holds traction without feeling glued to the ground! Can’t wait to get this thing between the tape. Trek has absolutely nailed there last few bikes. Can’t wait to get on the ebike version!
@@philrob4468 yes, but both bikes would be a good addition. The patrol wasn’t bad, the spire was just better. It will depend on what you want the bigger bike for.
@@NICADV u actually rode it the other day … lots of mount benson laps and some Cumberland … live in Nanaimo… the smuggler can feel like it’s not enough bike on benson sometimes
@@philrob4468 that makes sense, I do like the Spire for techy climbs and if it’s more about what holds its line the best then I’d probably go Spire. The Patrol is a bit more maneuverable but the low bb can be an issue, I’m thinking that first move on hitman you could definitely bash a chainring.
@@kevinclark9176 it kinda depends on what you’re looking for, but I would probably go with the new EX. It’s a bit better climber and has a lot of usable adjustment including the option to run it mullet
@@Orphansmash a lot of them, if you watch @jordanchaplinmtb video from the ride you can hear him call out roll or drop and gap. 😅it works most the time
@@Skifishbum91 so far rebound is the same as I had it before 4 high and 5 low. High speed compression is also the same currently at 4 but I’ve been playing with that more. I did close the low speed compression from 8 to 6. All these settings are from fully closed/full clockwise.
Thanks for the review. I wish they would start making it easier to search for EMTB's with a removable battery. Kinda a big deal for some. Thank You for a great review!
