There is a 1 in 658,008 that I'll draw all pieces of Exodia in the opening hand and win a game, if a tournament has 8 games for me to win, there is a 1 in 3.5143854e+46 chance of wining the tournament by drawing Exodia in every game. Chances of me winning a tournament without Exodia? zero. 1 in 3.5143854e+46 chance is still better than zero.

sauce987654321 Not understanding the best way to play to counter your opponent's strategy tends to become a non-issue when they're using cards from 2005. Also, information in YuGiOh really isn't that valuable to begin with. Most of the YGOpro videos you see where outdated/bad decks "meme on" people are showing maybe 10 duels out of 300, so you're only going to see the stronger plays and worse opponents they found on that journey. Both the deck and the pilot are equally important factors in a duel, so if the players are of equal skill level, then the better deck will, statistically speaking, win out.

For the MTG or Hearthstone players, just note that when he said the bigger monster always wins, its because stats work differently. Each monster cards has two stats: Atk and Def, and which stat you use is determined by which mode the card is in. For this example let's just use the Atk stat. If a monster with 500 attacks another one that has 1000, the one with 500 dies. 1000 will remain 1000, it will not decrease. There is no health, either a monster is dead or alive. So monsters with lower stats are basically worthless. In games like Magic or Hearthstone the weaker cards has a smaller cost to summon and you can summon as many as you wish long as you have both resources and cards to do it with, whereas in Yu-gi-oh you can only summon one monster a turn outside of special effects like spell cards. hoping that explained it better

@suddenllybah
@suddenllybah 5 лет назад
Not only that, but because you can only attack directly with effects that allow you, or after killing all of your opposing monsters, therefore summoning a whole bunch of monsters doesn't let you attack with a whole bunch of monsters that your opponent can't block, because your monsters have to be able to get over all of the monsters your opponent controls For example, in M:tG you can get someone done to 10 life using 1 or 2 creature until they manage to put a better one onto the battlefield. A way to beat then them down to 0 or less could be to summon a bunch of monsters such that the total power (damage a creature can deal per combat most generally) of creatures you control is enough to kill your opponent, even if a few of those creatures get blocked. (You send over 13 1/1 goblin tokens, while your opponent can only block 2 of them due to having two untapped creatures out (and those battles cause you to lose the tokens for no benefit for the combat itself), they still take 11 damage, and lose However, in Yu-Gi-Oh! getting an opponent down to 4000 and having them get a 2500 beater on the board might seem like the same situation, but summoning 5 1000 attack monsters will not actually win you the game, as you have to get over that 2500 in order to be able to turn 5000 total atk into 4000 damage to your opponent.
@kyotanaka920

@@itsthekid9815 Don't be like that. Yugioh's a very complicated card game compared to Hearthstone and Magic. Although they ought to know that the game is not 1:1 copy of another, there is some rules in Yugioh that would seem bizarre to the other TCG players. For example, sending a bunch of weak monsters to attack strong monsters is not an obvious thing to find if you come from other backgrounds unless they actually witness what happens to begin with, which is a rare sight in this game in the first place. Best way to find questions like that is to ask, so don't be a bleeding asshole just because they have no background knowledge of a game they hadn't touch themselves
@itsthekid9815
@itsthekid9815 5 лет назад
@@kyotanaka920 it's actually not that complicated. If you are coming from another game it maybe weird but it's very easy to understand. Pokemon is the most simple game as it's pretty straight forward. While yugioh and magic do have layers and they both have way to may sub rules to the actual rules it doesn't take away from anything I said. It doesn't matter how complicated something is you have a rule book accessible to you at all times. It takes 5 seconds to look at the ruling you want. Only people who are bad at other games would negelate the material the have access to and think it works for all games. I'm not going to touch hearthstone because that game is a joke when it comes to the rules.
@suddenllybah
@suddenllybah 5 лет назад
Kyo I don't know about hearthstone, (I think it is mostly a game where you can't make choices during your opponent's turn, so board states get less complex) but I think Yu-Gi-Oh! and M:tG are roughly the same complexity. Just … M:tG actually has errata for everything when they update terminology, and somewhat better card text writing, at least comparing English releases. Still, it's not really a meaningful thing, complexity. Yu-Gi-Oh! just has way weirder public and private information rules. (For example, activate a searcher that can't hit anything in your deck is forbidden in Yu-Gi-Oh!, despite the opposing player and anyone observing not being able to check, and it being possible to misremember your decklist.) While M:tG just lets you try and fail to find a particular card even if it is there.) focodoco "It doesn't matter how complicated something is you have a rule book accessible to you at all times. It takes 5 seconds to look at the ruling you want." Eh, weird rulings can make learning from one card or another not make sense, and the Yu-Gi-Oh card database is not very good for FAQs about cards. On reflection, players from any system that think that separate win condition cards that don't really contribute to your main plan, and actively don't work If you attempt to use them in any other way. (Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't have that much graveyard recurring to hand that you can use on anything, compared to M:tG, (which has plenty of creatures that return dead creatures to hand as a stapled on effect) and Hearthstone probably has some as well.
@logan_wolf
@logan_wolf 4 года назад
9:42 As someone who plays both Yugioh and Magic very casually, I gotta say, there's a better way to explain this to MtG players. Monsters in Yugioh attack individually, and damage is NOT residual, as it is in many other card games. So smaller monsters can't take out larger ones, because they attack individually, and the larger monster won't "remember the damage," so to speak, between one battle and another.

To clarify the point to MtG and Hearthstone players: look at the numbers at the bottom of monster cards. See that number for "Defense"? That is not the creature's health, like it is in MtG or Hearthstone. That's the monster's ability to resist attacks, and only when the monster is in defense mode. There IS no health, as far as the monsters themselves are concerned. It is either on the board, or it isn't. Destroying cards in battle comes down exclusively to an attacking monster having a higher attack than the attack or defense (depending on the mode) of the monster on the receiving end. Unless you have a stronger monster or some removal, the opponent's monster is staying on the board. No amount of trash mobs are going to clear a Blue Eyes White Dragon or whatever in a straight up fight. Meaning those five pieces of Exodia stuffed into a deck not built for them are just using up space in the deck that could alternatively be used to facilitate the deck's _actual_ win condition.
@Carzeyday

@Bluecho4
@Bluecho4 5 лет назад
@@farley576 No, I was not splitting hairs when I said "Yugioh monsters don't have health, they have Defense". Because there is a significant difference between Yugioh's Defense points and the Health/Toughness of games like Hearthstone and MtG. The former cannot be depleted piecemeal, by being attacked by multiple enemy monsters. Either a single enemy has enough Attack points to overcome the monster's Defense (or Attack, if the monster is in Attack position), or it doesn't. This is more than an academic quibble, because it alters how games in Yugioh are played, in comparison to MtG or Hearthstone. There can be no throwing of weak monsters at a stronger one, in the hopes of "wearing it down"; your monsters either can or cannot beat a big threat, and your deck construction will reflect this. As for "that's a pretty common thing for people to get confused"...yes. Yes it is. That's why I made the comment in the first place, in order to clear up confusion.

The best part about the Abridged (and in general Abridged series) is that a good chunk of the humor is that it's actually true; not a parody or exaggeration. I played Magic the Gathering mid 90s. Post college late 2000 I got a gaming buddy and I kinda showed him MtG and he showed me YGO. He said MtG was complicated, but the cards so simple. For me YGO was so simple, but the cards are so complicated. I could get how it's not an exaggeration that the show was just long speeches explaining the cards since there is so much text on everything explaining situations and conditions. -- So to quote the Abridged "doesn't anyone know the rules to this game?" No, no they don't.

Tommy Lyczko it's complicated now but 20 years ago when it came out it was easy to learn and play. When the biggest cards you had to read were man eater bug, hanhan, and a very few other effect monsters and you didn't have to worry about a ban or limited card list that has hundreds of cards that you spent your money on. I grew up in the age where every one ran a dark hole, monster reborn, and some op cards. Now you can't use pot of greed wtf. They need to let you use what you got and dnt give that but a lot of people dnt have money for those cards. Because its b.s. I guarantee that if they weren't banned everyone would have them. Yugioh has become a joke with links rules. Only allowed 1 extra deck monster on the field. That destroys a huge portion of decks inked you run links, can link easily and quickly, or run a deck that's not a extra card deck. That's y I'd like to start my own tournament. Cuz to be honest the tourney champions now are wimps. Back in the day it took skill. Now all you have to do is look up on RU-vid and copy a deck that can win and follow instructions. What happened to building a deck of cards you liked.

I know what you mean. Ironically, the main thing making YuGiOh unfun these days is that everyone playing it has access to all the cards. There are plenty of actual fun and unique strategies out there, but since they can't compete with the cream of the crop, everyone just discards them. I'm actually working on a discord bot at the moment to experiment with creating an environment where players will have a more limited card pool to see if that livens up the game a bit. Let me know if you're interested. Just throw a PM to Dexxus#9044 - I might lose track of a RU-vid reply, given how much they've fucked up the notification system.

Yeah I get when like, 90% of Meta was the same decks, but they are almost exactly the same. Even varying the last 5 or cards for strategic tech plays has faded out, at most you see like one or two oddball cards it seems. In my opinion, Link summoning just changed the game to much. @OnEiNsAnEmOtHeRfUcKa 5 лет назад
Yeah. I'd argue power creep has always been a bit of a runaway train in this game since the late GX era, and started reaching breaking point in late Zexal, but its definitely picked up waaay more than usual in the last 4 years or so. Late pendulums onwards just went from cycling down a hill to off a cliff, and it doesn't help that Master Rule 4 has made things into literally a different game. Handtraps are terrible, but the sad part is they're the lesser evil at this point. Medication to address the symptoms rather than the illness for a disease that never should have gotten this far. And I get what you mean - decks are so homogenous these days, at least on the competitive end of the spectrum. 2 main decks with 4 outliers, each of which has either one or two variants, each of which might vary by about 5-10 cards depending on player preference. And all of them run pretty much the same extra deck. It's depressing, almost.

Hey Dzeff, I was wondering if you could do a video on activation timings at some point? There are many times I get confused when trying to activate a card but I "miss the timing." I understand that there are steps such as declaring battle, the battle step, damage step, etc. but it's hard to know when a card can/should be activated unless it explicitly states it must be activated during whatever step. Really appreciate your vids man, they help out intermediate players like myself who border the casual/competitive sides of this game

@Evnyofdeath
@Evnyofdeath 5 лет назад
Missing the Timing doesn't have anything to do with phases of the turn. It has to do with the wording of effects. If you compare cards you'll notice there are four different wordings for the activation triggers of effects. "If X do Y "If X you can Y" "When X do Y" "When X you can Y" The first three cannot Miss Timing, but the fourth can. If the effect is an "If" it simply can't miss timing, because all you have to do is confirm that what it says needs to happen has happened. If however an effect says "When" you need to then check if it's optional or mandatory. If it's optional it will say "you can" if it's mandatory it won't. An optional "When" effect MUST have whatever it's trigger is happen immediately before it attempts to activate. A good example is Dupe Frog. It's effect says that "When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, you can add 1 Frog monster from your Deck to your hand, other than Dupe Frog or Frog the Jam." Lets use an example of using Dupe Frog as material for the Link Summon of Mistar Boy. You send Dupe and another monster form field to grave to summon Mistar Boy. You attempt to activate Dupe Frog's effect and it doesn't work. You check it's effect wording and it's "When X you can Y" in this case X is being sent to grave from field, and Y is adding a Frog to hand. What was the very last thing to happen when you attempted to activate the effect? Mistar Boy was summoned. Which means you missed the timing on Dupe Frog's effect.

@The One With The Memes It isnt that Konami cant make text, its that people dont read cards in a lawyer's fashion. They seem to blunder the usage by using a casualized version syntax of whatever language is on the card rather than by the PSCT that is on the card. You cant do that with Yugioh, it is the PSCT an any officially recognized rulings a player must follow. PSCT is Problem Solving Card Text and is an article on the official Konami site. So I just want to comment for those who have played MTG having played quite a bit of both games, though YGO only really in the video games. I think the idea that MTG players, at least in that comment, are trying to get across is that you don't have to devote your deck entirely to a given strategy. Just play the 5 cards, if your draw them you get a free win and if you don't then you just need something to do with the bricks. This can work, but isnt often a viable strategy, in MTG and when it does it is quite powerful. Basically you run your usual Plan A and often Plan B but also include a Sub Plan A, something you are not trying to do but can use if you draw into it simply as a matter of course. This usually includes splashing for some 2-3 card combo or some powerful engine piece or haymaker. The idea is that you sacrifice some amount of consistency for a greater amount of power. Two things I can see that are problematic for this approach in YGO, though you still sometimes see this applied. The first is that YGO has 40 cards as opposed to 60. 5 cards would be a lot for a 60 card deck but doable if the pay off is really "I win the game". 5 out 40 though is a whole different story. you would need a 35 card deck that was so consistent and powerful that it could afford to run 1/8 of its deck as blanks and not care as well as actually be weak enough and inconsistent enough to care about Exodia. Basically the idea is that once you reach that level of consistency and power, why not just go all in on your plan A? do you even need a plan B? if you do you probably run it out of your board. why bother running this alternate wincon at all? The second is that MTG is all about attacking from many angles so adding an additional angle that is really powerful has huge upsides that out weigh much of the risk. YGO is mostly just variations on combo decks. They want one focused line of attack and as many ways to protect what they are doing and disrupt what you are doing. What this comes down to is that a brick in MTG is far less harmful than a brick is in YGO. In YGO you want every card to do at least something. In MTG you want your cards to either always do something or do something so powerful that it makes up for when it does nothing. The reasons for this are many and complex but a simplified explanation would be something like this. MTG is a longer game, with larger deck size, more variance(as in randomness) in general, and more cards drawn on average. In MTG bricks are only truly potentially game ending when your in top deck mode. In YGO every brick could be a death sentence. All these factors and more make simply adding Exodia to a deck, even a deck that can discard or make use of bricks, far more costly in YGO than MTG and generally not a good idea.

10:19 Dzeef did forget to mention that there are cards you can play that boost the attack of one monster you control by the attack of another, but usually, the monster who’s giving the attack points cannot attack that turn, and the boost in power only lasts that turn. Just saying it now, for all those Hearthstone and MTG players who are curious. 11:15 Dzeef is correct here. As of the time I’m posting this comment, the pieces of Exodia are limited to one copy per deck in the TCG. Exodia is simply named “the Forbidden One” more so from his lore than his actual ability to be played. Also, the consistency of an Exodia FTK can easily be explained with math. I’ll be going over the best case scenario, meaning the use of a 40 card deck, and I’m just considering getting all 5 pieces in hand to start the duel, just to make the math easier. Drawing one piece as the first card in hand is a 1/40 chance, then another piece as card 2 is a 1/39 chance, and these chances keep going, up to and including 1/36 for the 5th card. These processes are independent of each other, given that only one copy of each piece can be used in a deck, so the chances multiply. 1/(40*39*38*37*36) =1/78,960,960 Or 1.2664486*10^-7. You are over 260 times more likely to be struck by lightning than getting an Exodia FTK. Considering consistent championship winning strategies need a higher probability than 1 in 2, you are most likely not gonna even win qualifiers trying to use Exodia’s win condition.

I think another reason MTG players might think exodia is more viable as an "oops I win" thing to toss in a random deck is they have much more viable total control decks that can just sit around and just try to stop your opponent from doing anything, and realistically just go through their entire deck. I'm under the impression that's not really a thing in yugioh? Like before the latest MTG rotation a bunch of people were pretty upset that Teferi, a powerful control tool, incidentally had the ability to put itself 3-from-the top of your own deck, which sounds like an incredibly useless/slow ability until you understand that people were able to build control decks whose entire win condition was to prevent you from doing anything, and then infinitely shuffle Teferi back in while they literally just wait for your deck to run out of cards. Before that those decks might run Approach of the Second Sun as their win condition, which is just "7 mana: gain 7 life, put this 7 from the top, the second time you cast this in a game you win". Another egregiously slow win condition that basically amounts to "all I need to do is prevent you from doing anything for long enough and I'll win". See also lantern control in Modern. HS is more weird to me because exodia is basically the exact shape of a *ton* of hearthstone combo decks: try to draw your entire deck to assemble some 5-7 card combo and OTK. And yet I don't think I've ever seen a regular HS deck just "slot in" that kind of combo as an alternative win condition? I think the closest thing I can think of is priest decks which played some divine-spirit+inner-fire combo as a way to "oops i win", but those cards are individually much higher impact than exodia pieces and you could dupe them with shadow visions enough to use combo pieces proactively without completely abandoning the combo plan. Unlike exodia where if you play one piece to survive you've abandoned the plan altogether, and now just have 4 more terrible cards in your deck. Anyway, big fan of your stuff, as a non yugioh player who just finds meta/mechanics discussion of games interesting!
@luminous3558
@luminous3558 5 лет назад
Yugioh also is very pressure/tempo dependent. Exodia has 2 builds a all-in combo build with just draw cards and a stall build. The combo build instantly gets run over turn 2 100% of the time and the stall build just wont be able to stall long enough before an opponent has enough negates to just push through. The combo build is the only remotely viable exodia deck in modern ygo because it atleast has a possibility of winning on the first turn, but its also just as vulnerable to handtraps as normal combo decks.
@AnoopVargheese
@AnoopVargheese 5 лет назад
Dzeef, that's the wrong explanation for why Exodia is bad to an MTG player. You can't say the cards are bad in combat, because from the rules text on the cards itself, you can see that you're never supposed to summon the exodia pieces if you want to use the alternate win condition. I don't understand who these idiots are who claim to be MTG players, but it's clear they have no knowledge of deck building in any game, MTG or YuGiOh, if they think it's okay to add 5 cards to a deck that have zero synergy with the rest of the deck. As you already pointed out, the exodia pieces are just dead weight in your hand unless you manage to draw all five cards. Those dead weight spaces can be replaced by literally any other card in the game, and they'd be more useful. Heck, adding 5 Zone Eaters instead of the 5 exodias would be a better deck-building strategy. I'm an MTG player, so I know. That commenter who claimed to be an MTG player has no knowledge of either game.

In Yugioh, deck consistency is vital for winning. Most decks comprise of a 40 card main deck (the deck into which you draw), a 0-15 card extra deck (fusion, synchro, xyz, and link monsters set aside from the main deck for special summoning), and a 0-15 card side deck (cards not used in the current duel but cards used to swap into in between duels in best of 3 match-ups). 5 cards is 12.5% of the standard 40-card main deck, which is a large percentage of a deck's power, especially considering the fact players are generally allowed 3 copies of each card in their deck with the exception of semi-limited (2 copies per), limited (1 copy per), and forbidden (0 copies per). Setting 5 slots aside for a random assortment of cards that might win you the duel if you have all 5 in hand takes up valuable space that is better invested in other cards that actively support and enhance the core strategy and win condition of whatever deck you happen to be using, especially when each of those 5 cards are do-nothing cards without all 5 being present at once. People might think, 'Well, just toss the 5 in on top of whatever 40 you use'. Going above 40 cards in a standard deck generally isn't a good idea either even for decks that use self-milling effects such as Lightsworn decks. Competitive players themselves rarely use more than 43 cards in their main decks. When you go above 40, you risk bloating your deck with unnecessary filler that will likely decrease your chances of achieving victory through the win condition of your deck. Overall, Exodia is a gimmick that does not support any win condition including its own. Decks have to be built around it in order to win and even those don't perform well. Thousands of attempts have been made to make Exodia a consistent strategy and the ones that came close to achieving the desired consistency while simultaneously failing at doing so were weakened by waves of bans that specifically targeted drawing effects. Most players have accepted the fact that if their decks aren't good enough to win without Exodia then their decks aren't good at all.

I Like your videos. I haven't owned cards since probably like 2006 or 07 so i find it interesting to learn about all of the changes made to the game. It's a bit overwhelming and I don't think I'd invest the time and money necessary to start playing again, but I do like all the information that your channel offers!

One other massive thing to remind MTG/Hearthstone players is that there is no ramping mana resource in yugioh. In mtg/hearthstone, you need to put some small things into your deck so that you have *something* to play in the early game. In yugioh, otoh, you might drop your entire hand on the first turn.

One thing that occurred to me with Exodia though is that if you have a deck with Quintet Magician + Magicalized Fusion, and possibly also Exodia Necross, you could probably make a more versatile Exodia or Spellcaster-focused deck, since getting your Exodia parts into the Graveyard could just let you use them to get out Exodia Necross, or use them with Magicalized Fusion to bring out Quintet Magician and wipe your opponent's entire field and then hit them with a 4500 point Direct Attack from Quintet Magican (and Quintet Magician also has protection as it can't be tributed [so Kaijus won't get rid of it] and it's immune to card effects so about the only way to get rid of it is via battle, and with Quintet Magician having 4500 ATK & DEF, the odds of being able to get anything onto the field strong enough to beat over Quintet Magician is unlikely, particularly if you were able to use Quintet Magician's field-clearing ability by using 5 Spellcasters with different names [and the 5 pieces of Exodia together would meet this exact criteria] as fusion material and Magicalized Fusion lets you conduct a Fusion using monsters on your field and in your graveyard). That kind of deck could be one where you could either manage to get all 5 Exodia pieces into your hand in order to claim that instant win, bring out Exodia Necross if your opponent manages to force you to send all Exodia pieces to the graveyard, or if all of the pieces and some other Spellcasters are already in your Graveyard, just use Magicalized Fusion to instead bring out the massive beatstick that is Quintet Magician. And then just fill out the rest of your monster card slots with Gravekeepers since some Gravekeepers (like Spiritualist) are good at bringing other Gravekeepers out from your deck or onto the field. Granted, I'm not a competitive player, so maybe there are reasons why that idea wouldn't work that I'm not aware of, but it seemed like a good idea for a deck since you would have 3 different tactics you could utilize (Exodia's Instant Win effect, Exodia Necross, or Quintet Magician).

Well, let's see. If Magic Cylinder is like the new pot of greed, that must mean that Forbidden Chalice has to be the new Yata-Garasu because the card is green. This is because Shrek is also green, and his teachings are most notably found in the Pokemon TCG Official Rule Book. By looking through this book, we can see the word 'Card' which implies that the Krabby Patty secret formula is on Mustafar. However, since there are 28 letters in antidisestablishmentarianism, we first need to analyze the 9/11 terrorist attacks. After doing simple calculations, I've discovered that to get to Mustafar to obtain the Krabby Patty secret formula we will need 394,334,134.3 lbs of chicken tetrazzini. So in conclusion, I have no fucking idea.

One thing to consider when talking about looking up information about these misunderstandings, is that for casual players looking up a combo, ban list, or ruling can be a lot harder since they are not as familiar with the information and it can be confusing for them. Especially in regards to the timeline of when things happened
@spikehammer3112
@spikehammer3112 5 лет назад
@Orga777 It is really not 1 second though. A casual player may search "is exodia banned" or worse "is exodia forbidden" neither one brings up the ban list. Also look at the ban list. It is kinda overwhelming if you are not used to it.

I played around with a Heart of the Underdog deck online. I tried being clever by using normal tuners and pendulums, but even then it was very inconsistent. The main issue I ran into was, well, people can just MST it as soon as I play it. In fact, as soon as they see I play it and am also using normal monsters, they will likely assume that I am using a normal monsters only strategy and know that if they take out Underdog that I'm pretty much screwed. It might be more effective if you were able to play pendulum, XYZ, or synchos that give backrow protection, though.

I used to run Exodia in my chaos emperor dragon deck back in the day. The day before the ban list screwed me and i dropped the game XD. Was super fun while it lasted. I heard rumors of people playing the exodia pieces when full power zoodiac was a thing. The +7 blacksheep combo was hard for an opponent to deal with and it gave the possibility (however remote that possibility may be.) To instantly win by draw that 5th piece at any time. I've also heard of people playing heart of the underdog with exodia in decks like igknights and metalfoes. More so with igknights because 90% of the deck is normal monsters anyway, and even if you don't instant win you still have half ass decent plays you can make.

If you have a 35 card deck then adding 5 pieces to it is only good if you're going to be playing (40-n)^5 [1-5] duels with that deck. Then you're statistically likely to win exactly once by drawing exodia in your opening hand. Of course, this is such a small chance that you'd have to duel continuously with the same deck for years to win this way even once.

For anyone who has a Hearthstone or MtG mindset, know that in those games, you get a lot of draw effects and a lot of turns. In Yugioh, the average amount of cards you'll draw without any draw engine (Yugioh draw engine is very limiting) is 8 cards, including your opening hand of 5. That's about three turns of drawing. In Hearthstone, you can continuously delay your opponent's damage until you can assemble the Antonidas combo, but every monster in Yugioh have Charge. Also, you can't win with Exodia on the field, they must be in hand. Summoning them is a bad option, so if you draw them, you bricked.

Nurse burn with life equalizer could also give you otk's. You can use the other gift cards to give your op life points, use some search and draw cards that give your oponent lifepoints or take yours, then use life equalizer, summon nurse and use the last gift card. I'm not very knowledgable on most cards in the game but I'm sure it's quite possible to do this
