You've never met Corey before but he's not only a top guy but a great pilot too! In this flight we knock out the 100NM VFR day cross country requirement for his commercial license, and I ask him a few questions along the way.

Great video! I honestly think it wouldn’t make that much of a difference if the videos were 1080p. Unless people specifically request 4K, I wouldn’t bother.

3 hour IFR oral that’s nuts mine was around 2 (which is typical) and 1.5 in the air. Going to start commercial soon but working on a seaplane rating.

For me oral exam was about 2.5 hrs, with a short bathroom break, and flight was also 2.7

@@nathanmcguire932 the 172 I fly is non-WAAS, so we had to fly a bit out to get an ILS since I couldn’t shoot an LPV.

So that's what Venice looks like? lol Kevin had me do my first night cross country to Venice and back and all I saw was black and a few lights as I got into the pattern and came in over the Gulf! lol

What would be the advantage of getting a commercial rating before an IFR rating? I didn't know you could skip over IFR.

You could in theory start making money sooner, but remember that without in instrument rating you can't take passengers beyond 50nm or fly them at night. You're restricted to VFR obviously which causes a lot of flight planning issues if visibility or clouds are low. I'd suggest getting the instrument rating first then commercial. You have to build the 250 hours for commercial anyway, why not get your instrument rating in those hours!

I started my private license training about 3 weeks ago and am about to solo here in about a week in the DA- 20. In your opinion is this a pretty good and easy plane to get your private in.

Love the vids! Working on my ppl How do you get great cockpit audio? I record mine with Audio in cable to gopro7, but the audio only projects to one speaker when played?

Thanks mate! I don't get the audio from the GoPro. I use an external audio recorder. I feel like the sound is better. That is how I have done it since I started the channel, funnily enough with the exact same audio recorder haha.

Zero Three Delta the hours don’t count if you crash and have to reload back at the original airport mate.. So how many hours do you really have?

Thanks for your videos. Entertaining and instructive. Thank you. I do have a question though. I am currently in the process of getting my private and after my instrument. I am not necessarily interested in flying for an airlines or really get paid for that matter, but I am planning on flying for my business that I own to see clients around the nation. Is there any benefit of getting my commercial if I am not necessarily planning on getting paid to take passengers places?

Hey man. I’m glad you enjoy my videos! So, if you are flying yourself around to see clients there is not much need for a commercial certificate. If you are going to fly clients around and charge for it then you would need to get your commercial. But it sounds like you’re not going to do that.

Thanks mate! I encourage you to read this: www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/avs/offices/aam/ame/guide/app_process/general/validity/ That will clear up that the 2nd class portion is only valid for 12 months
