Hello. Chris Konkle here. Just to give you a heads up. If you click on any of the links in my video descriptions or on my website, you will be led to Amazon. I am an associate and will receive a commission on any purchases you make. My goal is to make it easy. For people who do not know what real contractors use for tools, personal protective equipment, equipment, services or any other procured items. Also, easy for experienced trades people by having all the items neatly organized and grouped together for quick and easy purchasing. There are millions of different products available out there. I only promote those that I have either personally used or have fully researched and believe they will deliver value to you.
It takes a lot of time and money from myself to bring you all the free content. Our message is to master construction and be an industry leader. Then you can train other workers to be quality trades people that value organization and leadership and use problem solving to ensure project success. This message promotes good ethics and practices in both business and work.

What kind of snips u recommend? I gotta cut 40 holes for a switch that was overlooked in 40 of the same type of room. In a 6 inch wide, existing metal stud. Thdirs a hole already but it's to high. So I can get in there but it's pretty tight and taking longer then I'd like. Sawzall is out of the question because of nearby data wire. Need a better option. Good Snip brand? And do the left/ right/ straight cutting type of snips really help?
@ConstructionKronies
@ConstructionKronies 5 лет назад
Yes you want the Red (right) cutters go with Wiss Snips. It's good to know what gauge of Steel the 6" studs are. If its 25 gauge your laughing but if its heavy gauge you may need a grinder. Let me know if you have anymore questions!
@wootexclusive8499
@wootexclusive8499 5 лет назад
@@ConstructionKronies i got no idea of the guage. I would think it's somthing kind of standard, not real thick/ not real thin. But deffenitly giving me some trouble because of the lacation. I'm gonna grab some new snips and pack a grinder. thanks bro.
@ConstructionKronies
@ConstructionKronies 5 лет назад
@@wootexclusive8499 so welcome. If its standard your good, the Wiss snips have been the standard cutters since I started 25 years ago and are still rockin. Grinder is always a good thing to have just in case. Let me know how it goes!

I've heard of people gluing the drywall to the wood studs, however, I've never glued any drywall to the studs and living in Houston, it floods all the time. Ive6 ripped out sheetrock in I don't even know how many houses and I've never seen any house that had the Sheetrock glued-in. I figured it must be a Yankee thing. However this just might confirm my suspicions. because you are even further north than those weird Yankee people.lmfbo

I'm giving this video my 5E rating. (EEEEE) Excellent video! Enthusiastic approach. Etremely informative. Educational. Easy to follow. FYI my 5E rating is better than a five-star rating. This is for two reasons 1 it comes for me. It's my rating, so automatically it is a better rating. 😜 And the second reason that it is better is because it's not just certain number of stars that represent absolutely nothing.each one of these E's is also describing a characteristic. 🤔

For the caulking I always get confused acoustic rated and fire rated. Is the fire sealant acoustic rated also. Or do you have to use different sealants ?- that is fire rated and acoustic rated. That mean u need like 3 different sealants- 1 acoustic rated, 2 fire rated and 3 acoustic with fire rated. If u get what I mean. 😂
@ConstructionKronies
@ConstructionKronies 5 лет назад
So from my experience and to my knowledge we only use acoustic/waterproof (the black chemtron) or fire rated (red hilti, or grey) not both and they are applied in different areas. The black goes under metal track, between the poly vapour barrier and substrate (wood or steel) and at joints/corners, bottoms. The fire rated stuff goes at the top of the walls and around any penetrations. Sometimes an extra rating is applied and they fire rate the bottom but it goes under the board 1/2" or 25mm between the floor and the black always goes under the bottom track. Man I could talk about it more let me know if you have anymore questions my man!! Thanks for coming by!
@ArchitectRussell
@ArchitectRussell 5 лет назад
Construction Kronies so is the fire rated sealant acoustic? Because if u have a situation where u want the wall fire rated and soundproof u would just use the fire rated one?
@ConstructionKronies
@ConstructionKronies 5 лет назад
Yes the fire caulking has smoke and acoustic suppressant properties. Each type of caulking has its own place and you wouldn't reverse them. The fire rated stuff is for penetrations or to final seal walls at substrate transitions. The acoustic water repellent goes with the vapor barrier and underneath walls. Cheers Mate!

Hey man, just wondering if you’ve heard anything on Aldritt tower. Things have been very quiet, and so has the site itself. I didn’t realize that the architect, Brad Kennedy sadly passed away, would that affect whether or not it’s built do you think?
@ConstructionKronies
@ConstructionKronies 5 лет назад
No I don't believe it will stop it. It may have something to do with why it's been in pre construction for so long. I was thinking too that since the province has been in conflict over the pipeline business is down and the change of government. It's going to take time to bounce back from that. It's still said they will be starting soon. Thanks for checking in!!

Hey Chris, Thanks for the great videos! With your help I put up my first 24' tall wall. It turned out awesome! Question: On the last building the framer used steel bracket clips #BC600. Those walls are now are all covered by drywall so I can't see how they were used. Would you explain when to use these clips and how to install them? THANKS!!!
@ConstructionKronies
@ConstructionKronies 2 года назад
Awesome stuff my man!! Yes those clips are shot onto the structure with a Hilti direct fastening tool. You can get clips that have deflection as well.

Thanks for your time. I live in houston tx... I was wondering if you can help me out on a question. I wanted to know where can a person who wants to work in your industry go to apply? Like a labor hall? Or how? Would it be ok to just show up to a worksite and ask for information? Thanks
@ConstructionKronies
@ConstructionKronies 4 года назад
Most definitely you can go to a construction site and go to the site office to ask for the subcontractor's information or even if the general themselves is looking. I do do that sometimes but mostly I just call every company in the yellowpages until I get something. Cold calling like that is perfectly normal. Just make sure they are a good company with a safety program and you will be alright! I would be glad to help you out anytime!

What kind of fasteners do you typically use to attach the tracks and the drywall?
@ConstructionKronies
@ConstructionKronies 4 года назад
We use the hilti pins mostly to attach the tracks. There are 2 types, 1 for concrete and 1 for attaching to steel. We also use 1/4" pin bolts to attach tracks to concrete, just need to use a hammer drill and if the steel track is 16 to 14 gauge you need to predrill the holes with a step bit. Drywall is attached with the 1-1/4" regular drywall screws for light gauge steel and self drillers for heavy gauge. For 2 layers switch to the 2" screws!
