There is great opportunity in mechanizing many of these processes. I am hopeful that someone who can do this will watch this video and provide that resource.
@joedee1863
@joedee1863 Год назад
Mechanising the process increases profits for individuals but what's wrong with giving jobs to many people who can't find work. Spread the joy around and help more of your countrymen to be successful farmers. When humans work together they become greater than the sum of their parts. Psalms 133:1 This is a secret most people don't understand. There are ways to increase productivity without mechanisation one of them is called method study. You can learn this in college or read books on the subject. They sometimes call it 'task optimisation'. Just growing yams in sacks rather than in the ground is one example of it. But with a little lateral thinking other good ideas can emerge.
@nnekaamahagwu6077
@nnekaamahagwu6077 Год назад
I see your angle, but Technology is there to make our lives easier, that's why we use cars so we don't have to walk. Also, anybody who has plans of scaling their farm business will need to adopt some mechanics. Even with that, farming still requires huge human input.

It's actually great to let people know this method is possible. But I have the feeling that, that's all the producer wants us to know because I see that a lot of vital details were omitted such as average pricing for sacks, the types of chemicals used for treatment, close-up view of the exact positioning of the seeds during planting, etc without which anyone would make great mistakes. However, I don't know if the producer wishes to keep those as trade secrets that we have to pay to get, which is ok, if he can give us a link to reach him and pay to get same. Nonetheless, the video is still great at least as an eye opener. Thanks.

I observed you depends solely on rainfall what of if the rain fails to come how do you mitigate it? It's better to consider an irrigation system may water sprinkler or something similar it's very important. I appreciate your efforts.

Rainfall can't be trusted, though. But for this project to be profitability, we can't introduce irrigation system

If you have this large space... Why yam in sacks instead of heaps? This sack is advicible in where land is scarce.... You are just increasing production cost

Planting yam in sack is super okay sir. The advantages of planting yam in sack are, 1. It's easy to manage, better yield, pest and disease control, environmental benefit and so on.
@florenceofoma5646

And easy harvesting with minimal damage to the yams.

12,000 heaps for the yam will take a lots of hecteres more than the space sacks will occupy. Compare what space a sack will occupy and the space the heaps on the ground will cover.

Why wait for the rain when drip irrigation can provide water the same as rain? A little bit of brainstorm will help my african brothers thrive. With drip irrigation, we don't need season to produce yam. We can produce all year round. We can even go further as producing sequently on a monthly basis. Yam takes around 7 months to get ready for harvest. We can put them by row on bags sequently and the harvest can be followed sequentky as well. In this case we utilise the area of production to its full capacity and produce more in a year round.

@monekekosisochukwu6269 3 месяца назад
I don't think it's a matter of brainstorm, but a matter of cost. Sometimes these lands are just gotten for the planting season, sinking a borehole in a land that's not yours may be a waste and sometimes when the land is yours, sinking a borehole can be costly, so we can still be planting till we can afford drip irrigation

I have some questions. 1. Won't the yams planted in the sacks require sticks for support? 2. How long would it take to harvest?
@ChidavAgriculturalHub
@ChidavAgriculturalHub Год назад
They do require stakes. And it takes about 9 months to maturity . ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TbDvQCOKUsY.html Check out the link to see how we staked

Particularly for yams, how nutritious is your crop since it seem you did not grow them in the earth?
@ChidavAgriculturalHub
@ChidavAgriculturalHub Год назад
The medium of growth does not affect the constituent of yam tubers. They're just as nutritious as they would be.
@iberusodiq2891

So nutritious, I have been practicing this this system for about 4years with a small quantity of sack in my compound and presently I have about 50bags. I actually started and playing without any procedure. I plants water yam and main yam.

If the rain is not consistent, how often will you water and what quantity of water per bag?
@ChidavAgriculturalHub
@ChidavAgriculturalHub 2 года назад
If the rain is not consistent, the yam would have to irrigated once in 3 days. Just get the soil moist with about 1-2 litres of water per sack.

Not at all. The cemented floor won't have any effect on the growth. They're growing in sacks not the floor

U can as well plant vegetables in the sacks if not yet season to plant. This system is actually meant for Urban farming.. where u don’t necessarily need to plant directly on the ground Incase u have a floored compound or environment.

Yams are perennial herbaceous vines cultivated for the consumption of their starchy tubers in many temperate and tropical regions, especially in West Africa.
