Great video thanks for sharing Would an option be to fit a separate 3 bar pressure reducing valve to serve the whole house after the Megaflow cold block valve? As a side not would a 22mm non return valve fitted on the hot out at the top of the cylinder stop back pressure problems? Cheers
Yep, a pressure reducing valve on the mains is often the solution, it’s not perfect because when using cold water you are robbing pressure from the 3bar rather than the higher pressure but it is often the solution
Doesn’t hurt, it’s no more dangerous than turning off a tap, it will put a little strain on shower/tap component as the pipe work cools down it may cause a vacuum..but you still need the pressure reducing valve or the higher pressure can cause issues in mixing as the cold dominates
Is there anyway you can definitively test for this back pressure? I have an unvented hw cylinder and 8bar mains cold. The hw cylinder drips after the water heater has been on until hw is drawn off. But also the tundish drips after around 4 hours of no water usage. Combi valve, t&p valve and expansion vessel all replaced, no difference.
You cold put a lever valve on the outlet, top of cylinder and see it you get back feed, but you can also see if it's pipes in wrong… you could install a reducing valve on the mains incoming to the house before any tees see if that stops it
hi mate, thanks fir the video.. If i wanted to run liquid in reverse, going in from the top and out through the bottom , woukd it be possible? or is there one way valves within the ready made system?
@@GHancock what if i was to insert a longer bit of pipe inside to hold the check valve open? I'm doing a project of my own.. bought a second hand Stelflow invented RM cylinder off gumtree fir £50 in the hope i can have it running backwards.. or if not backwards at least get the outflow from lower in the cylinder as im not going to be filling the tank right up, so there won't be any pressure to push it out the top. Is there any other way you think i could get an outflow from nearer the bottom?
If you using as a none pressurised cYlinder you will not need the reducing valve or any relief, as it’s open vented. Remember hot water natural rises before using using it backwards. I’m not sure what your using it for.
@@GHancock like you mentioned, it will not be pressurised l, im going to be processing biodiesel.. so looking to add the oil to the top, heat it, then add chemicals, the using a pump, pump the chemicals and oil out the bottom then back into the top, mixing the oil and chemicals .. so wanting to make sure i can create the paths of the fluid going in reverse
Yep this will work, without all the safety features it’s just a container with a coil, if you look on our Instagram photos and scroll down there is a photo of the inside one if it helps, good luck
So should all hot and cold tap and shower supplies be taken from the balancing valve near the tank or just for the shower? Can i take any taps direct off the cold mains before the balancing valve
Only colds that mix… three tap whole tap/ bath shower mixer/showers. Blending valves. The rest better taking off the higher pressure so they don’t take any pressure away from you blending colds and hot pressure
