This is the best version of this song. The other version just doesn't compare. I've been listening to this joint since the album first came out and I can feel this song in my soul.
I always hated how streaming services like Tidal and Apple don’t have this version. Always thought this was better than Part 2 with Macy Gray. Thanks for uploading this
This original version was on the album at first but then Dangelo and Common had a falling out which made Common take him off and put Macy Gray on with a different beat.
This track is the straight TRUTH!!!! It was on original album but after couple years they put MACY's version on it. Always thought this was the better version ( no disrespect to Macy). Glad we are finally able to enjoy it again......Straight CLASSIC!!!!!
It's 5:54 a.m. woke up needing to hear this record. This takes me back to the year 2000. I went to prison a few months later for almost three years. Life was never the same again. R.I. P. Mom. Big up to Common once called Common Sense. God Bless.!😌👏
So vibey!!! This was always the better version!! The beat is so soulful. D’angelo vocals captures the vibe and colors the track gracefully. Perfect track ride to
This was originally going to be on "Voodoo" but D traded Quest "Chicken Grease" (which was originally going to be on LWFC) for this one. That whole run of albums the Soulquarians did was just magic captured in the studio. Absolutely incredible stuff.
Dangelo helped me bcum the man I am today.. uplifting an inspiring an encouraging thank you for this record common doing it easily as always with his poetic mind in heart. Yall blessed us
Daniel Medford he made a beat that was never released but it sounded a lot like this. Just search up “J Dilla Working on his MPC3000” and you would hear that beat
Clifford Ryan beautiful album Dilla produced a couple of songs so did Dj Premier top 5 album of all time in my eyes it’s up there with Slum Village Fantastic Vol 2 and Tribe Midnight Maurders album
Probably the best album from one of my fav MCs. Just downloaded album on Rhap and it had horrible remix w/ Macy Gray-ab brutal. D’Angelo version hits your soul
Searchin for a love, throughout the ghetto Young girls is thick, righteousness is narrow I got my third, I want the sparrow Want my peoples straight and rock sweet apparrel The mother of my child, we not together Baby it's your back, I got forever As the weather, talks to us Him rockin the Holy Spirit walks through us The blunted eyes of the youth search for a guide A thug is a lost man in disguise The rise and fall, of a nation, even when the buildings tumble I still stand tall, I walk through the valley, wit a life preserver Feelin at times, that I might just murder Yo but that aint what I was sent for I want folks to say his life it meant more Than ?any ca, any ba ca? any broad He found Geto Heaven in himself and God Geto Heaven... I like this better than Macy. Sorry, but this is the one I fell in love with. Puts me in a different place. I remember when I bought this, but I'm still finding new places inside my head whenever I hear this.
I remember playing this song on repeat when i was around 12-13. This song really became the song i play when im really stressed. It always calmed my mind and spirit. Also, common and I have the same birthday #PiscesGang
Idk whose idea and decision it was to replace this here version with part two, but they FUCKED UP. I still have LWFC original CD, but only the Macy Gray version is on Spotify 😒
