Common GOLD & ITEM farming MISTAKES in ESO 💰 (How To Farm Gold Efficiently)

When it comes to farming items and gold on ESO, players often overlook things and end up farming for their wares in a manner that is significantly less efficient than it needs to be.
A lot of activities in ESO reward you with items that you can use for yourself or sell for gold. The thing is, sometimes you are better off purchasing items for gold instead of actively farming for them! And if you are looking to make gold from selling the items that you are farming for, you may find that there are actually more reliable ways to make gold.
Furthermore, did you know that motifs that come from certain daily reward coffers have cooldowns? This means that once you receive a motif from a daily reward coffer (in certain zones), you will not have the chance to loot another one for quite some time! These cooldowns are ACCOUNT WIDE, so swapping toons will not save you from them!
If you prefer to obtain your gold from flipping items, it's possible that you may not be as efficient as you could be!

It was a 600 crown gem exclusive so I’m not sure if it will come back unfortunately :/ Those usually do not return, but given the new rework to the crown gem system what with endeavours and all that, maybe the devs will bring back old crown gem exclusive mounts some day!

In one of the more recent updates (past couple years) there was some voiced NPC dialogue where the character said "saltrice" and pronounced it "salt rice". It was mind blowing for me. All this time I'd been saying it in my head like "saltreese". In fact, I still do even after knowing the correct pronunciation. It's too hard to change it 😄

I would also like to add that being a master crafter is very lucrative as well. Make sure you are constantly on cooldown for trait researching. I often respond to crafting requests in Zone chat and am often rewarded with fat stacks for very little investment (5pc craftable set for 150k). Don't underestimate the laziness of some people. They would rather just throw money at their problems than do it themselves.

I actually did farm harrowstorms for the new motif. The first day I got 1, the second day I got 4 of them!!! Since then, my RNG has sucked, but it is possible to get multiple pages in a day! I'll admit, I'm oldish so I can't remember if I was just camped there the whole time or if I left and did other things and came back. I do know I threw a lot of pies and mudballs. That's fucking actually enlightning. Thank you, I thought it's a some kind of myth, but never realised that I actually never get more than 1 same motif per day on account. Except year event obviously. But I bet they actually have a some kind of cooldown on good stuff. For instanse I get 3 dusts in a day. But for all entire of event I didn't have any more. Same with good motifs, I get them first days, but after a few days opening on 11 characters - they just stopped droping. And I basically have random shit for a week.

I always thought it was a myth as well! It wasn’t until the Markarth patch when I realized that it may just be true, then I did a bunch of research and became enlightened haha And yeah it wouldn’t surprise me if there were a whole bunch of other cooldowns on items and whatnot that the eso community has not yet discovered 😮

Thanks for the common sense advice. I always learn something from your videos. I think the key is to find a gold making method that you enjoy (or at least dislike the least). Then, instead of doing painful grinding for rare items for days, weeks, months (or years), with no guaranteed success, take the gold you made and buy them item(s).

Yes, absolutely haha! You will find that you can even rack up a decent amount of gold passively, like by selling motifs that you get when you do a vDLC pledge, or when you convert your AP to gold, which I would much rather do over farming a lot of things in this game lol

Buy your merchant and banker. Just do dungeons, dailys and quest. It will collect over time time just don't spend any of it lol Also pub dungeons, delves, events, group dungeons, wb. Just go crazy. You see the location go to it not away from it.

Cool video. The motid farmi definitely helped me. I am looking for ashlander gloves to drop to be able to do a master writ, it's only 2 coffers a day, but I did not know you can ony receive one motif every 20h. I will take this in consideration. I farm gold mostly selling raw materials. I enjoy farming, going around Daggerfall, Khenari's Roost and gathering all I can while I listen to some music, or do some side quests. I have made a total of 1,5M or so. I know this is not much but for a casual player it feels like a good amount. Was able to buy my Autumm's Gate house and I have never had a problem with money in the game. I tried to flip sometimes but I felt like I was losing my time. I only did it once where I gained +30k buying stuff in the zone chat and selling it in my guild sotre, but I am more efficient farming. I use to flip in other MMOs where the auction house is global and you do not need to talk to a large amount to NPCs to find the best deal. Good video!

Great info as always Artie! I would like to counter your Summerset farming for Mother of Pearl tho. Farming nodes for it is a pain as they are few and far between. It's much easier to do what I do - fish!! Fishing gives you a chance to get a Pyondean bottle which, in my experience, gives a better chance of getting MoP or Clam Gall. Plus you can filet the fish for a chance of a perfect roe. Not everyone likes fishing but I found doing it in Summerset the best method of accumulating those lovely mats!

Fishing in Summerset is a stellar idea, and a much better way to farm for pearls or clam gall, that’s very true. The point was more so to suggest that there are other activities that you can do that are more profitable than just waiting around at a geyser, like farming nodes (doesn’t even have to be in Summerset - it can be anywhere!), and as you have added, even fishing in Summerset!

@@Arttea absolutely, I was merely providing another way to use your time more proactively. You get at least one bottle out of every two fishing holes in my experience and you can get more than one MoP or Clam Gall in a bottle. I regularly get 2 and have had 4 at a time on several occasions. Stock up on your worms and try it for an hour....you will thank me!

One of the best ESO youtubers on the site hands down, you are going to blow up. Great content. Had a question on your settings. I use the same reshade but your game seems much brighter. Do you increase the gamma or make any changes to get it a bit brighter?

Thank you for your kind words 😁 Honestly I need to update my reshade, it is causing a few of my shaders to not function properly, so that may be it. It may also be an increased gamma as I did not make any changes to the actual preset itself. Hope that helps :)

How exactly do you make gold from farming nodes? Do you just sell the materials, or make them into cool potions, etc. and sell those?

Good question! The two most prevalent ways to earn gold from material farming would be to either: 1) As you mentioned, you can gather alchemy mats and craft potions that are in demand to then sell those for gold. The two most expensive potions at the moment are essence of spell power potions (since it is a pve mag meta) and tristat potions (great for pve tanking and pvp) 2) Sell the raw ore/wood/platinum dust/cloth/hide that you collect, or test your RNG and refine them for a chance to receive valuable gold upgrade materials that you can also sell. I get the impression that a lot of people just prefer to sell the raw, unrefined materials.

I won’t lie, I’m so antisocial I game that I don’t bother with traders. I just see ungodly inflation prices. Since I don’t pvp yesss you see dark souls too in this new armor! As for trading, tbh I don’t have the need to drop gold on acquiring armor sets. I just run around a pretty spot in game and role play that my character is gathering for her husband (my real life husbands character) to sell as a cover up for his being a thief

Sounds about right! Most of the testimonials that I've read about people finding the recipe have been about how people stumbled upon it while pvping, as opposed to finding it while deliberately farming for it :^)

One thing I look for on guild traders is when people accidentally post a stack of something that should have been a single. I've made tons of money buying up accidental stacks of motifs and recipes and then selling them off individually. You can tell they weren't meant to be posted as a stack because they asking price is generally the same as a single unit.

If I dont have a ton of gold to begin with, what would you suggest are useful things I could gather/farm to sell. Like crafting materials and such?

Yes, I would begin with farming nodes (aka farming raw materials that can be refined to create whole crafting materials). If you have your alchemy skill fully levelled, you can craft expensive potions that are in high demand, like essence of spell power and tri-stat potions. If you have your other crafting skill lines maxed out and have your refining passive fully maxed, you can chose to refine those raw materials for a chance at getting valuable gold upgrade materials, like Dreugh Wax and Tempering Alloy. If not, no worries - you can even sell those raw, unrefined materials for a decent amount! Platinum dust goes for quite a lot on PC NA - around 40k for a stack of 200!

Try selling weapon and or spell power potions, or if you like farming alchemy mats are always a good earner. Cornflower, Butt Floss, 😂, Lady's Smock, Water Hyacinth are always in demand. Also Lorkhans Tears is easy to farm and sells for 10-15k a stack on EU/PS

lol 10:17 "ST ElSWEYR GUILD" is a guild I'm in, and honestly, I didn't know where the hell the guild kiosk was at or that it was run by a brother Khajiit with a dreadlock. I don't do much socials in any of my guilds, I sell a lot in my guilds, and buy a lot from vivec guilds since that's where I chill, and get my dues in and stay out of any dramas. I literally have officers who annoy me by checking on me in another guild beside this to see if I'm doing great and that I should join the guild's Discord. Long story short, great video. I’ve been trying to get my scrying and excavation levels up good enough to get supposedly some item worth a LOT of coin (which I think is in the building where ya learn about scrying ?). I’ve been doing pretty good with digs for an item worth 1,000 coin (numerous times, mind you🙂) and if I can get on today, I plan to do some more digs. If I can just get top levels in scrying and excavation I’ll be glad.

Just sell crowns boys. If not that, then become an imperial (if you want 1% more gold gain) then run the vile manse for consistent gold. With the necessary things you could make around 100-500 gold per group and around 2k to 3k per run (Mini bosses will add to your bag but aren’t necessary). Be sure to fill your bag up, to sell that. Your bag sale will vary depending on your inventory space. My bag is max, and depending on my items I sell at somewhere to 12k to 14k gold. You can easily make 100k a day at least from this, if your consistent. Writs are also cool, and even more beneficial if you have multiple characters.

I get it that eso isn’t exactly a game that gives you millions of subscribers but if some content creators such as Hack the Minotaur can have like 100k with his style then it’s a crime that you’re not close to that. Your style reminds me of the channel ZNA Productions aka Eli Ostrowski, he has a pretty good sense of humor and is a pretty good teacher. He doesn’t make videos on games, but I see a similarity.

Harvest its the best way, its guarantee and if u give ur champion points ture and if u use sets like adept rider cowards gear and wild hunt mythic ring it ll be amazing way I almost earn 600k gold per hour just from harvesting and always have a chance to drop for aetherial dust I got 8 dust drop at total its 350k at least and extra money (pc eu server I playin) so I never buyed eso+ but I have almost all dlc's and almost just harvesting I did for money little advice from me :) and video is great I m turkish so if my english is bad, apoligize :D

Boys, just play the events and get the special motifs hold them for a year or 2 and sell them for just below average, I made 300k in a day or so by selling my Opal staffs and helms. I also bagged myself a sentry dagger and axe which sold for about 140k This is from my personal experience which I play a lot of pvp etc so I’m trash when it comes to farming Pve things for golds.

I would be interested to know how you flip items in guild traders, I tried to however am not on pc, but rather console, seems to complex to figure out which things are underpriced, as average price is not always accurate. Also to successfully flip you need a high transit trader from a trading guild plus the right price, which is not easy to correctly set although some tools do provide some guidance. Prefer to fish and hope to get perfect roe, or just farm crafting mats, which always end up selling, without needed to investigate much. Antiquities system is also a great one time use to get a lot of money, plus house furniture and treasure to sell to NPC. Trading guild also a bit unreliable as sometimes things sell fast other times, it takes a long time, or even worse never gets sold, then you lose the listing fee.

The gold I make usualy comes from rngs or by selling pvp mottifs now and then and from scry treasures, the thing is I don t rush to make gold, as I don t care to have that motiff or house today, lol, when the time comes, I ll buy them, and besides, there are way better things to do in this game than farming motiffs or gold for days. I mean don t go robot, it s bad for your brain

I have got 2 purple dwarven lamp plans when farming. as soon as I get one I dump it to the banker straight away and don't learn it and keep farming. Seems to work for me and seems to stop the cool down not sure if it's the same for everyone I use this method when looking for anything

sometimes i wish ZOS had things like recent searches and ttc since it isn't there for consoles. The recent search thing is only for whatever you put in last so can only look 1 item up quickly. Aware TTC is outside of them but they created a system that created a need for it. Kind of like the buff timers and markers and stuff were added in much later. Also things like the lorebook maps and stuff would be nice but with Zos they would charge since they already have a knack for doing that.

Ah, the recent search thing only works for one item at a time eh? That is so strange, I wonder why PC users would have access to several past search results while console players only have access to 1, that makes no sense to me :/ And I agree! Some more quality of life changes would be amazing, much like how they added multi craft!

Oh my goodness I'm so glad to hear it haha, I really wish I would have known that stuff myself, it's too bad these concepts aren't readily explained in the game. You know when you first pick up a weapon on ESO you get little tutorial tips about how to equip it and use it? A little tutorial pop up bubble about cooldowns would be amazing. Would have spared me from spending a lot of time running around doing nothing :^)
