There are a lot of concepts in ESO that are not clearly explained from playing the game alone - and the wonderful world of ESO trading is no exception. As a result, many of us may make mistakes when it comes to trading our wares in ESO. As a beginner who is just trying to get a grasp of the fundamentals of trading in ESO, it can be difficult to know how to determine the price for certain items, and when to sell them, or if the items in question are even valuable at all!
This video aims to shed some light on a handful of some of the most common trading mistakes that I see - with a specific focus on mistakes made by beginner or novice traders. Although, of course, us veteran players are more than guilty of making trading mistakes from time to time as well - but that is a topic for another video!

Hello Arttea. I really like your style of delivery, theatrics included. Hearing you pronounce Bugloss four different ways in about a minute was great. The way you swear, even, is natural and well placed for emphasis. I also note that you poke fun at yourself sometimes which I am guessing takes a lot of confidence to do.

@@velkanzi That sounds like a neat idea! I do plan on launching a Patreon soon where I think I will post more personal content, especially content that discusses my video creating process, for those interested - so I can definitely talk in more detail about that there! But just as a quick rundown, the mic that I use is very sensitive - it is ideal for ASMR (which has actually been very annoying since it will pick up every little thing, making it so that I have to do a lot of editing to cut out random background noises, or breaths and mouth noises -ew, I know haha- that I make). Because my mic is so sensitive, I really have to nail my positioning of it. I take several practice-takes before I go ahead and record an entire video and play them over to check the sound quality until I find that sweetspot. Then I record. The issue with this video is that I was recording in a room that has more echo than my usual recording room (since I was away from my apartment at the time) and I was inconsistent with the placement of my microphone.

I don't get the people complaining about your "theatrics" when every other eso content creator feels like some boring old crusty professor lecturing you to death for an hour. At least there's some personality in your vids and you don't ham it up so I don't see the problem.

Informative and fun as always! Never change. I had flashbacks to complaining to a friend about how hard it was to find some square rune or other on a guild trader for a decent price and them saying, "You know you can buy it from the vendor, right? Right?" Yeah, that was me, and I remembered that lesson very firmly. Now if I have a stack of vendor something to get rid of I make a point of listing it for _under_ vendor cost so someone has a decent reason to trot to my trader rather than a vendor. You make a good point about upgrading good items to purples -- I tend to be lazy about doing it because I don't mind if a flipper buys it and improves it and makes some more margin off it, I just want it out of my bags, but that extra step would be a good habit to get into.

I only found your channel yesterday and I really love the theatrical/fun themes to all your videos. Haha thank you! I know what you mean - when I first started playing ESO and had to consult guides myself, I was very easily bored with how the information was presented to me. Thank you very informative video!! 🤣 I do one thing you said not to and that's flip plants and as it happens pieces from Clockwork. I started by selling off my extras from builds so I wouldn't have to store them I now buy for 2 players on request and sell slightly higher.. what am I buying? DLC zone plants, because neither player has those zones or DLC's.. 🤣🤣 at the beginning of the free Plus week, I emailed both and told them to go stock up! But that I'd also be happy to buy what they want later.

One mistake I see pretty often is underpricing luxury furnishings. Waiting a few months and flipping a luxury furnisher item for 2 or 3 times the original price is common, but every time I go through my pile of flips, I find at least one or two items that are priced only slightly more than the original price. Sometimes they're listed for less than the original price. It's wild because that price tag is only a google search away. There are several websites that list all the furniture in the game, where to find it, and how much it costs if it can be bought for gold.

I've been scared to make the wrong moves. I found my first painting and thanks to you I haven't just sold it. I'm also hoarding maps at Moon Sugar. If you are using TTC and master merchant an thingk you see a deal, make sure to check the ratio of listings to sales. If there 1000 listed over a 30 day period and 20 sold, there is a good chance that is not gonna sell for you.

One mistake I made was giving a bunch of valuable crafting mats to guildies, not knowing that they were worth a ton of gold. Like mundane runes, culanda liquor, etc

I enjoyed this video and found it funny. Serious question: I can upgrade some items to gold before I sell them, but I don't have enough gold mats to upgrade them all. I'm not confident to do this in case a gold item doesn't sell. Do you recommend buying the mats to upgrade items to gold or limit upgrades to the amount I get from refinement?

I'm curious. I'm recently new to selling things in ESO. I've been selling some of the new housing stuff dropped from the new DLC and posting "WTS for X amount" in the zone chat. Is this something that is wise to do in the long term? Like once the addon TTC starts getting the info it needs would it just be better to continue to doing WTS zone chat or list it on the guild trader once the info has been obtained? Also another question that just came to mind: If you put something on the guild trader, what's the general time frame you would want to keep it on the listing before taking it off and changing the pricing?

Cabaret, comedy or theatre nothing is off limits. The only thing that matters when making a harmless joke is getting a laugh out of it and it was funny. If people attach political meaning some harmless fun, well that's on them. Your content is fantastic I'm not a huge trader in ESO.. I'm one of those end gamers that trades a ton when I'm low on funds then don't trade for weeks but if there's a new Arttea video I get myself a coffe and its time for a break from work : p

I definitely was taken advantage of as a newer player and trader myself (I sold a lot of my valuable items to zone chat WTB spammers for a fraction of their actual value because I didn't know any better!) so I try to do what I can to ensure that others don't experience situations like that one. @@Arttea well they were only Dremora motif 63s, Guild traders ( as you suggested ) I found out I could have made more than I did.. it's a suckerpunch when people feel the need to screw over new players for their own greed of virtual money. I was told they were only worth a couple hundred gold, as opposed to 5-10k.. I had a whole set.

I have received quite a lot of comments that were similar to your own in a short span of time - was my video by any chance shared on a discord server or some other private community that you are aware of? I am trying to figure out why I have been bombarded with a lot of messages that are insinuating that I am all of these horrible alt-right things after I made one self-deprecating joke that happened to reference a politician tripping :/

One thing I would add, is listing jewelry for sale. With few exceptions, you're better off to decon them for mats. Just as you mentioned to check items for their style before vendoring them because deconing the item might yield an expensive style token, the same holds true with jewelry. The mats are worth more gold than the sales price you'll get from selling rings and necklaces. Again, Mother's Sorrow and a few other sets are the exception. But, those exceptions are very few. On PC/NA (currently) Purple grains sell for about 7k. You'll usually get a grain when you decon a piece of jewelry - not always, but enough. Buying purple rings selling for 5k or less and melting them for mats makes coin. The same holds true for blue and green jewelry.

Ah yeah, the prices for items vary greatly across different servers because our player economies are vastly different, but the general idea will still apply (ex: certain maps will sell for more than others, albeit, not for as much as they would on PC NA) Haha thank you! I've always been very self conscious of my voice so it is very reassuring whenever someone let's me know that they don't mind it!

A mistake I happend to do a few times is being not patient enough - bought sth for underprice just to find it dirt cheap on the next trader! (not for flipping of course)
