Common HDMI Cable Faults 

I spent a couple of hours trying to troubleshoot why the TiVo wasn’t showing up on my brand new Samsung. I kept getting a “no signal” error message. I thought it was the settings so I spent all that time trying different settings. Nothing. Watched your video. Two minutes later (and using a different HDMI cable), problem fixed. THANK YOU!

Thank you for the infos ! This video helped me to solve my problem, below the description for those still seeking if it can work for them. Got a new tv 4k (TCL50 p8 m) with all the tralala to lure me in and the screen while working was tilting and showing a message about the hdmi port (the name of the port, hdr and the resolution every now and then) while using ps4 or pc. The same hdmi cable worked just fine with the same devices but on older tvs and it was making me crazy. i switched the pc signal to 720p in my case and it solved the problem, now i must find a better cable :)

I know this video was put out years ago but hopefully you may be able to help? I’m having really bad pixelation issues during cut scenes on games on my Xbox one x I’ve also plugged in my sons one S using the same HDMI cable. Normal viewing on Netflix and watching RU-vid is fine really good picture. I’ve changed pictures settings and Xbox settings and still having the same issue! My TV is a Samsung Q60r. HDMI cable I’m using is a good high speed Philips with gold connectors. Do you think it may be the cable? I’ve tried swapping the HDMI cable from my Nintendo switch and the picture keeps coming on and off but works fine on the switch. Please help.

Can a cable work and then not work after because i having a issue were when I turn my tv it’s dose not Shoe my dvr box it just shows a greyish black screen but when I go though the impute and back to hdmi it works

so my hdmi cable on my ps4, causing audio skipping every couple mins for a second at a time. its not my tv as my xbox doesnt have audio skip. but im curious if there is any other reasons..

Speaking of hdmi problems...what’s going on with my audio while watching tv with video normal and audio normal, then all of a sudden, the audio becomes very distorted but picture is fine. I’ve found that by reaching behind the tv(Panasonic) and pulling out the hdmi cable gently then putting it back in, the distorted audio returns to normal. Other times I just turn the power off on my universal remote and turning it back on. I use a Zvox sound bar speaker instead of the internal tv speakers. After years of dealing with this issue usually a few times a night, I just can’t narrow the problem down. I’ve used different hdmi cables, have had several different dvr/cable boxes and have tried all 3 hdmi ports on my tv. Nothing has changed. What’s causing this problem?

Thank you sir. I've been having problems with my Ps4 pro not delivering HDR to my LG TV. I was quite sure it was Sony's fault. After I saw your video, I swapped out my HDMI cable with my Xbox One S and it solved the problem. Now, the only problem now is, how do I determine a good hdmi cable from a cheap one? I can't determine quality by price because, they sell HDMI cables for over $100, and I know that's just a scam.

I have the Xbox One S. And the cable that come with it is a High Speed cable. Now... i bought a new tv that has HDR and 4K. But im getting what i think is called Color Gradient when i play games like RDR 2 often seen in the sky or with sunsets and so on. I have talked with Samsung about this and they think its the cable. Now... my question is... can it be the cable ? ( I know that the One S cant sent Native 4k, that it upscale the 1080 to 4k, )

I haven't been able to find any of the hdmi wall plate inserts that actually work with 4K UHD. Does anyone know where I can find 4K UHD compatible wall inserts so that I can actually have in wall hidden wires?

Hi Vince have a quick question for you have a walker 42" inch flat screen it is saorview, connected to dvd and has no satellite connected the one big problem with it is once I start it screen display is good but when I go into menu or going through source to av it is fading like something is draining it or changing channel it drains as it puts the display screen back up television is 9 years old never gave any trouble no flicker on screen just pure energy drainage when screen goes black any advice yours sincerely Declan O Shaughnessy 👍👍

Apparently an hdmi to hdmi converter type cables can damage port or console, i bought one for optical out in ps4 slim as both the console and tv lacks optical out and soundbar i bought has optical in, first it had display errors and now game crashes and most times system crashes white light issues, thankfully ps4 is still under warranty, be aware of buying any converters for the consoles, i will still buy another 5v hdmi to hdmi converter but the next one will have its own power supply adapter unlike the usb one i bought in, pretty sure its the hdmi converter caused hdmi port and other issue in the ps4 console

I have a 2019 vizio 4k hdr tv connected to directv and on the 4k channels it says that my tv resolution is no higher than 1080p and I have to watch the 4k channels in 1080p could this be a cable problem . I have tried everything else but the cable which directv installed .

my hdmi cable was gradually degrading, causing bigger amounts of input lag which made gaming so incredibly impossible to play over time until I bought an amazon basics cable and 4K gaming and HDR has been as instant as I expected it to be... could it be because I had an out of date cable in that was only accepting 30hz 4K?

It doesn’t depend on the age of the cable, the conductors inside, the plating on the connector or the price but it does depend on the rates spec of the cable e.g. HDMI 1.0

Hi I bought a new monitor and new Xbox. Got all my settings adjusted. Bought 2 different hdmi cables and my resolution looks like 480p but I have 1080p selected. Could this be to do with hdmi cables? There’s no wear on them. My Xbox has no problems as I got it sent to repair shop they said it’s fine and graphics were perfect for them.

Can a hdmi cable cause stutter, lag on game menu's? Im having main problem with dota 2. Slow loading screens, on start up slow starting. During pick phase ( Where i chose what hero i pick) Ive black screen and i can't do anything and i need to shut down the game and start it again. And now on start up my game and steam is shutting down. Right now i'm backing up a couple of games and ill try to reinstall steam to see if that works.

I think my electrician used a 1080 p cable but my TV is 4K and I am getting slightly blue dots on my screen. My problem with replacing the Cable is that it runs through the wall and floor and is therefore very hard to replace. So what would you recommend to me to fix this issue? Could I cut the hdmi head off and replace it, I’m just not sure what to do and it is very worrying as I just got my setup completed and I invested a lot into it all. So it would be depressing if the problem is just one small cable that I can’t fix

I seem to be the only one in the world with this problem when I play games Gears of War bring the most noticeable my buttons don’t always respond but when I test the controller all the buttons pop up when I press them every single time. So I’m wondering if maybe it’s my hdmi cable or my Ethernet cable maybe even my power cable? But I don’t want to waste money and it end up being none of those. Ik this video is old but I Recently went to a relatives house for Christmas and hooked up my ps4 to the TV then I went home and hooked it up to my TV it's normally hooked up to now the screen is glitching and still shows the ps4 games and home screen

It didn't help there is a problem with my HDMI cable it is a 4k for the ps4 slim and it was working. Then it shut off and now it won't work anymore. The pins are still in contact. There are no obvious reasons it won't work.

I can see my laptop on my TV but I'm not able to get any TV stations...I see hdmi1, hdmi2 some settings page but no TV. Could you help, or anyone help. I haven't looked at TV for over 4 years now.
