Its about time!! To see genuine and honest garage helping us people who don't have a clue and it doesn't cost for advice. Well done West Yorkshire Engine's.
Very helpful...Des ur a legend...from watching ur video's I had the confidence to do a basic service on my new (2nd hand) D40...I overfilled the oil cas I didn't take into account what was left after draining! But now know what I need to do....all thanks to these vid's. Good job. Jon M South Africa
Tip and Trick for others about the same seal. what can also be done is this and its also successful, I cut the flat side out of a thin 2 litter plastic milk container just a bit larger then the seal and longer (4") so as to be tab (handle). Place the o-ring in position and lube up (I generally don't use rtv on o-rings especially around oil/coolant galleries but its your choice) RTV the housings as per usual and the plastic tab, place plastic tab over the sharp edge and the oil suction hole install the housing, seal should glide over the hole with no chance of cutting when close to home say with a mm or 2 pull the plastic out making sure all the plastic tab comes away intact. I use this method Not saying its right or wrong but it works for me.
Hey love the vids. im from the u.s. and we didnt get the tubro charged motors in our frontiers and pathfinders...i have a 05 pathfinder that i swapped out the motor because old owner didnt have oil in it(multiple rod knock) and it has the vq40de. Was wondering if you have ever worked on the that motor?
Fixing big engines air start 10 tonne fly wheel generator units,' o rings are very important to right fitting .I make my own at times with kit of all sizes and do your's rubber grease, silicone grease, and selant to hold them in .My nissan t31 is a very good suv .Very good your channel has helped everyone. Thanks .
I’ve just bought a 2007 Navara, with a cracked head. I sourced & good second hand one (yes it was checked) & fitted it. Bought a timing chain upgrade only to find its already been done 😞! Anyway I watch a few of your vids to do the job & they were a great help. Thanks heaps & you’ve gained another subscriber! Cheers from Aus 🇦🇺👍
great tips mate and very helpful not many would give free advice like that , i actualy cut an o-ring just like that, but i did notice it was a tight fit etc so i removed it just to check and learnt the same things. i did the same using rtv as i was worried it would not perfectly seal and a dab of super glue so the o- rings dont fall out when assembling, horrible design really , maybe im too much of a perfectionist or stress monkey, hard to tell somedays.
Thnx on the tip, just got an 2006 x-trail where the former owner did a chain replacement and the engine warning light is on, and a strange noize when running. It cuts out when it tries running on idle but it runs when i disconnect the cam sensor. Tearing it down tomorrow to check if he realy did replace the parts and if the timing is correct. And also checking the upper tensoner cos i heard that on cheap kits it can fail
A little update, this time mi own mistake. I did not check the oil nozzle spraying the upper chain with oil. This have been blocked and the uper chain now need to change again. Im gonna change the oilpump and clean the pickup tube and gasket at the same time. By that operation i know everything is ok.When your having thins out CHECK THE OIL SQUIRTER. (you shoud make a video on that?)
Hi Des, Very informative, If you suspect a Misassembled Timing chain upgrade what sort of noises would I get? and would a Oil Pressure Test show any thing? Regards Fred.
Hi, Is it required to drain sump complexly if you suspect your mech has made a 'boo boo' Re, lower seal? And how does one broch the possibility he has? I'm been told it most likably is Injectors!
@@gegwen7440 There isn't a singe manufacturer that recommends RTV in oil systems, None, the seal is designed to work without the rtv, the original procedure is to remove the sump, assemble the chain cover with pump then the sump goes in.
Hi sir! I have a nissan hard body MP300.And there's a noisy knocking sound in the engine every time that I accelerated it,It sounds like a fuel knock or something. What seems to be the problem of that knocking noise? Thank you and god bless.
Boss please i need your help . there's a noise in my engine and the oil light is also off. and I can see the oil is also pumping correctly . please what might it be?
Please but the car is also moving and pulling good. only the noise of the engine I could hear. I've serviced the injectors and also changed fuel solenoid and a lot, but still noisy
Handy info how ever you said his mechanic done it wrong yet dident point out anything they had actually done wrong? As seals where not split or cut and in place so what was the issue they done
Are you actually telling people to turn the engine over with the starter motor instead of by hand!!!! Those tensioners will either have a spring inside them or be ratcheted so therell be no issue in turning by hand, how you think your car manages when it first starts with no oil pressure???? Youre saying use the starter i assume because it will give oil pressure to the tensioners? How will it when the oil pumps not even on the engine?
RTV aside I'm not sure how you'd install the dowels once the cover is in place. They look to be blind holes and a press fit into the lower timing chain cover. Better to just grease the O-rings in the grooves and not try to come straight in line with the dowels when the o-ring is over the edge of the oil pan.
