More punk than punk, without being classed as a punk song. A song that says more about a certain student age group and class life on both sides of the tracks- and does it with ironic lyrics, melody and energy. I was a London student of a certain University which had that class mix.
It's about Social Tourism, that was happening in England a lot... just Google Social Tourism.... than, you will fully understand the lyrics of this song.
I just love this song sooooo many years and still I love it, I love Jarvis attitude towards other band members, his easiness to enjoy music, his "dancing" skills.
I was 16 when this came out...i miss the Britpop era...Pulp,Oasis,Blur,Stone Roses, there were sum legends 💚 i listened to the whole Pulp album the other day...great 💚
I saw them live twice in the 90's. The best gigs I've ever been to. I know I'm a bit biased being a Sheffield lass, but they really were the best gigs.
She has arthritis from when she was just 16 years old... Plus it's her "fault" the song probably even exists - when Jarvis came up with the melody, she was the one, if not the only one, who tried to give it a chance and make something out of it.
Jarvis at his best! The person, he loves most is without doubt himself. Normally I dont like these kind of people. But Jarvis I cant refuse, I love him too. Perhaps, because he is perfekt in what he does.🤷♀️🙂
Really ? I’m his era and remember when he showed his bare bum on live TV to Michael Jackson in protest to his pedo profile - he was very political on many agendas - whichever way you think this songs is an iconic classic of its era
@@stardust5397 You got me wrong. I agree with you about him as musician. The ringtone of my phone is Disco 2000, which you sure remember, and which reminds me to the time of my life.
"Valentine" guy, that old goth rock dude playing guitar on the background. what was his name? I dont know anything about brit rock but I know that dude. He was in joolsh holland or something like that. it was the best love song ever, like 10 years ago or something. "valentine"
