Thank you for watching another video, your support means the world to me! Hope this video was helpful if you're sourcing for a BMW M340i, or to know more about the platform of its common problems if you already own one. If you own a BMW M340i (xDrive), do you think I've missed anything? Comment down below and let's talk!
Another major issue with early production g20s is the evaporator drain tube is mis aligned with the AC drain line. So what happens is the water from the AC drips into the car, soaking the carpet around the center console. I’m having this problem and the repair is $3k+
Haven’t heard of this yet, but I haven’t done much research on this specific topic and I do take your word for it. Can’t imagine diy removing everything to get to the evaporator on european cars… that must suck. Hopefully you might still have several months of warranty left for it to be taken care of?
@@TandeGarage the car has been out of warranty for nearly a year now. This is a defect right from the factory. BMW dealer wants 5300usd to repair it as it requires removing the dash
Evaporators are typically “hidden” under/inside the dash, so I’m not surprised it requires disassembling the entire dash to access the faulty part. That’s why I can understand the hefty bill on the repair 🤦♂️ That’s why I have been sourcing a trusted local indy shop and building a good relationship with them. It will pay off eventually. Going to the dealership for service is usually a ripoff 🥲
And that’s exactly what happened to mine. If you have warranty still (assuming extended warranty if you took it upon purchasing), try to push for service to replace the oil pump for you. From my understanding is that when it’s measuring oil, the oil pump is outputting oil pressure out of tolerance for oil measurement (as if you stepped on gas), so the oil measurement stops. Of course this is only the theory and your service advisor may say it’s bs and turn you away. But try pushing for the oil pump replacement. The FB group that I’m in, a lot of folks got their oil pump replaced under warranty, even if it’s tuned for a small fraction of them. After that oil pump replacement, I’ve been able to measure oil every single time. Good luck friend!
What should a passenger princess do when these problems happen? Do I stand still? do I pull out the Milwaukees? Do I scratch the tint to shift the attention to another problem? or do I ask if he'd still love me if I was a tarantula? please help, I want to be prepared just in case
Only if! It doesn’t concern operator/passengers safety regard. Even if they send out a statement, it will only be a TSB not a recall, unfortunately. Being said, that will be up to the dealership’s discretion to fixing it if it’s brought up.
Supposedly, yes! Unfortunately, there’s no way to confirm 100% that you have the updated pump or not, other than pulling it out and check for part number (which will be completely pointless really…) If you can check oil level right after a drive, every single time; that’s one of the clear indications your oil pump is in good standard! ✌️
Haven’t done much studies about the VQ’s so can’t comment on it too much. Oil pump is an issue that can be solved by replacing the unit. I genuinely have no clue about oil consumption. Oil consumption on the other hand, I may switch to a slightly thicker oil (0w30 maybe), and see if it’s going to improve. It’s indeed weird.
